What should the WTBS do?
I think the needed repairs would make the org. completely unrecognizable. It's like a really old car that keeps going bad until you finally know that it's not worth fixing anymore.

What should the WTBS do?!?!
by LDH inwell guys sorry i haven't participated much lately, i've been really busy.
but, i do have a question that i would really appreciate all of your input on.. it is no secret that young people are leaving jws faster and faster.
it is no secret that most jws are disappointed, and hurt by lack of prophecy fulfillment.. so here's what i was thinking: i'm going to post some very personal thoughts on what *i* think they need to do in order to stop the loss of almost 50,000 disfellowshipped and probably 4x that to inactivity.

Questions for DFShipped...
by LDH inhi, dfs.. first of all, let me say it is not necessary to label yourself on this board, or anywhere on the internet for that matter.. so many of us have family members that are df'd, it really doesn't hold much water round here.
i did have some questions for you though, which of course you don't have to answer.. 1. why were you disfellowshipped?
(pls.

Hi DF,
I'm curious. You seem aware of some of the things the GB got wrong. What exactly convinces you that the WTBTS is really the only org. representing Jehovah?
Is it possible that other religions that teach "wrong" things could also be represnting Jehovah? -

Can You Believe THIS?

Xandit said:
"Many now living may yet take a stand for truth and righteousness before God's time of judgment, and they will gain salvation." Like I said somewhere else, I take them at their very specific written word. Far as I'm concerned this does not say that such ones have to be JWs. Works for me.
How about this then:"come to Jehovah's organization for salvation." (The Watchtower - November 15, 1981)
"...stay by the faithful organization. How else can one get Jehovah's favor and blessing." (The Watchtower - July 15, 1996) -

the following "dictionary" may be very discomforting to true believers of jehovah's organization.
if you ask too many questions about these things you are told " jehovah will make it all clear in time.

Foolish me. All this time I thought that phrase had something to do with sex. As in "Don't bumble your stubber".

6 of 9,
I read thru the links in order and felt very sorry for those people. While most of them walk around on eggshells worrying about beards, bars, dancing, and white shirts; there are peolple right under their noses who need real help (the single mom with kids).
You're right. It is sad.

Frenchy,
I'd like to add to your comments. Those who simply cease to be involved in the faith are not shunned.
How does this statement compare to the following Elder's manual quotes?
"Disfellowshipped and disassociated ones are shunned by
those who wish to have a good relationship with Jeho-
vah". "John counsels against speaking to or associating with a
disfellowshipped or disassociated person so as not to be "a
sharer in his wicked works." (2 John 11 )"Edited by - thinker on 30 January 2001 9:1:30

First a quoted post from W.O.L. :
Why we sometimes adjust our beliefs
When a watchman is posted on the watchtower, he must report all perceived approaching threats. Sometimes poor light or distance makes accurate reporting difficult or just plain impossible at first. However, if the watchman waits until he is CERTAIN of all the facts, it will probably be too late to sound a warning that will save lives. So an ongoing report of changing conditions is necessary. The effective watchman does not worry what people will think if he has to revise his report. He knows that lives are at stake. If he waits until the arrows are coming over the wall, lives will be lost.
So with God's true servants today. Many will ask us: "Does truth get 'truer'"? Of course not! It is just seen more clearly as "the light gets brighter" and the day draws nearer. We must report as conditions change, and too bad what people think if we have to adjust our report.A story told in very general terms can seem quite reasonable, but let's see what happens when we add a few "minor" details:
There was once a watchman who's job it was to protect the inhabitants of the castle. One day the watchman tells everyone that the pyramid in the distance was made according to God's plan. A few years later, he says it's really Satan's stone. On his daily rounds, the watchman passes by the infirmary and tells the patients suffering from appendicitis and typhoid that worms are the real cause of their problems. Years ago the watchman told of an important visitor who would be coming to the castle. When no one came, the watchman told everyone that the visitor was here, but invisible. The watchman built an addition onto the castle, so that the visitor's dead friends would have someplace to stay when they came back to life. Time and time again the watchman wakes the inhabitants with shouts of "The world is coming to an end !!!" And nothing ever happens.
Now, the king was a kind and patient man, but even he had his limits. The watchman is now a court jester. There are still those who believe every word the jester utters and this amuses the king to no end.
And they all lived happily ever after...The End

The following is from a post at W.O.L.
Identifying counterfiet christianity
Before becoming an interpreter I worked in a bank. Part of our training included how to identify counterfiet bills. This training did not focus on explaning all the features that might be found on the phony money. Instead we were taught to examine real money very carefully. To get to know the look and feel of the currency so well that when presented with counterfiet money we would easily be able to recognize that it was not legal tender. This well illustrates how foolish it is to waste time trying to familiarize ourselves with apostate literature or web-sites perhaps in some effort to better defend our faith. We will find it much more helpful to make a careful examination of the truth, getting to know its look and feel so well that any false ideas can be easily identified.
SisExcellent point.
I recall once hearing about some Brothers at Bethel discussing the pros and cons of reading opposing literature. As the story goes, Br Fred Franz was there. They asked him what he thought, and he reportedly said: "Why listen to a liar?"Mick
I agree with you sigingsis. With all the beautiful informative material that Jehovah's Organization provides how could one possibly have the time to read the rubbish of the opostates or the confused world has to offer. Give me the Truth every time.
p'ellaSigningsis, that is an excellent illustration. Shows the need to do our personal study more diligently and deeply so we know the real feel of the truth. I like the way you explained that.
Thanks for sharing that.
This seems to illustrate some common aspects of JW's: a closed mind, a lack of independent thinking, isolation from any information or ideas not sanctioned bt the WT.
It occurs to me that Jesus was born, raised, and baptised in the Jewish faith, yet His teachings were very different from the prevailing Jewish beliefs. In a word, He was an apostate! Jesus's followers were open-minded, independent thinkers. They listened openly and actively sought out information which differed from their own religious standards. If everyone back then had adopted a JW mindset, we wouldn't have a New Testament and nobody would know about a guy named "Jesus".
If Jesus appeared tomorrow, would a JW even bother to listen to Him? How many members of the GB would call him "liar"?ps. Apostle: from the Greek "to send away from"
Apostacy: from the Greek "to move away from"thinker

God Changing Chosen Peoples

he said, wouldn't it be possible that if a group <ie.
jehovahs witnesses> fell out of gods favor, what would stop him from choosing another group?

BJC,
You seem to assume that I'm a JW. I'm not, never have been. The "if" was for others benefit. I KNOW I'm a child of God and DO have a one-on-one relationship with him, no mediator needed. Thanks for your concern.
ps. Does the "2012" in your name refer to the Mayan calendar?
