An open letter to Waiting, and those she misled.
by RedhorseWoman innow, i'm sure all of you have seen waiting's statements on multiple threads that i started the introduction thread in the sex forum, with the implication that i am constantly thinking about sex and sexual innuendoes (well, this second one may be true, but i almost never think about sex...just ask my husband).. rather than reply to each of her misleading statements, i decided that it would be best to address the issue in one post, one open letter (besides, my cut and paste finger is otherwise occupied at the moment and unavailable for the repetitious task).. let me say this.....if reincarnation is true, then waiting was the evil stepsister to my cinderella (sigh).
i am such a wonderful, patient person, and waiting.....well, waiting.....she....(sniff)....makes fun of me.....(of course she's really good at it, but that is not the point).. i am stating here, once and for all, unequivocally, that i am not the perpetrator of the introduction thread in the sex forum.
waiting did it.

Struggle,
Be very careful about writing things down, if you do get some dishonest ones, it can and will be used against you. And it isn't a pretty sight.

Judicial Committee Meetings
by Pathofthorns ini saw this interesting post on h20.
most publishers are unaware how things really work many times in the back room of a kingdom hall.
sure there are lenient elders, many do try to show mercy.

Simon,
I think that is probably very true. Just takes longer for some of us to catch on.
As for John 8:7
Isn't that why the NWT set those verses apart? Because they didn't match some of the manuscripts, and they felt those verses may be spurious?

Starting a band
by TR ini've been toying with the thought of starting a band.
so far it's a one-man band, for i know few in the music world where i live.
what i want to do is purchase a mixer so i can edit my own bass, drum and guitar tracts.

I love Joe Satriani. Didn't know anyone else except for the person who introduced me to him, who ever even heard of him. I play piano. Not well. Had to sell the piano when we got married not enough room. Love to sing. Got my husband some harmonicas for Christmas. We love jazz, the blues, rock, folk, classical. Have an awsome CD collection. Everything imaginable.

Merry Christmas Everyone!
For those of you having trouble getting into the spirit of things, I have a short story. After watching one of the many "scrooge" variations on TV, I had a wonderful fantasy. In it the members of the GB are visited by the ghosts of "Witness" past, present, and future. You know the story so I'll let you fill in the details, but in the end the GB has a change of heart and accepts all the harm they've done and works hard to make the society a truly christian organization. Ah, if it were only so...
It put a smile on my face just thinking about it.
It occured to me today that almost all my posts were critical of the WTBTS. In the spirit of the season, let me say that after talking with my wife about many of those she converted; it is possible that some of those are better off as witnesses. I mean the ones who were living lives so messed up by drugs, alcohol, bad past experiences, etc.. For them, it may be necessary to be controlled in every way. I only hope they can mature and grow to the point they no longer need such a all encompassing organization.thinker

I just have to get in on the action here. It is really hard sometimes. But so far this has been a good season for me. One of my customers (I have a cleaning business) gave me a lovely card and told me I had put the true meaning of Christmas and spirit back in the season for her this year. It meant a lot. We are going over to a friends house today for Christmas dinner. I'm making the pies. I feel very lucky.
I know what you mean about saying it it is hard. But it wasn't hard saying it on the cards I sent out including the email cards. There are some really great cards at egreetings.com.
So have a wonderful day everyone!! Stay warm and appreciate whomever you spend it with.

the remnant
by larc ini gave stats under jw decline, but i forgot one.
during the last ten years, the number of the remnant has not changed, which means that as fast they die, they are being replaced with nebies.
couple possibilities:.

You go Path. I must agree. As for the secrecy, I happened to grow up in a congregation that had a real problem with this. A group of supposed "annoited ones" was started, and grew like wildfire. My father, an elder at the time, spoke up and was chastised severely for it, upshot, he had to leave the congregation. Just got too hot for him. They really were a bunch of freaks, many of them on heavy medications for real or imagined afflictions. Not to mention some of them had mixed illegal nacotics with meds before becoming witnesses. And these would be the ones to rule over me? I think not.

JW Decline
by larc ini found some interesting statistics, some of which you may know, that indicate that the wtbts is in decline.. 1. in the twenty years from 1970 to 1990, the rate of yearly increase dropped from 10% to 6%.
in the last 10 years it has dropped from 6% to about 2%.
since the world population growth is about 1.5% they are only growing at about 1/2 of 1% faster than the population.. 2. in 1999, there were 21 large countries that showed a decline.

Waiting,
Is the scripture you are looking for, Zech. 8:23?
TWMartini,
I disagree with your conclusions. I believe MOST Witnesses already have doubts. In the past, those doubts could only be faced privately during what little free time was available to them. The internet gives them a private means of exploring those doubts and discussing them with others. (as this forum shows)

Serious Question
by Prisca inas we all know the society has very strict guidelines regarding conduct between the sexes.
in the cong i grew up in, it was so small-minded that if you were single, and seen talking to a member of the opposite sex, you were presumed to be in some sort of relationship with him/her.. sex before marriage is out of the question, with heavy petting also looked down upon.
dating is a serious affair, with all onlookers expecting engagement/marriage to be the outcome.

M2u,
Relaxing and more activity, isn't that an oxymoron. I love this place too. Just one more addiction. Sigh.
