Hello Redline,
Concerning those "awkward beliefs" that you called "minutia", I suggest you go to this site: http://quotes.jehovahswitnesses.com/
It's NOT apostate, only quotes from WT literature. No comments of any kind.
I've never been a JW, and I don't understand how anyone could be after reading the quotes on this site. They are strange in ANY context!

Is this Completely Apostate
by redline ini just happened on this place a few days ago, and thought i would stop in to see what it was all about.
it claims to be a jehovah's witness forum, which it is not.. dont want to come here and point fingers, as i am sure there are some good people in here, just seems the bad have followed the good.
i guess in reality thats always the case, but hey, what else would these people do if they couldn't wage their little war on the truth.

LATEST INSTALLMENT OF APOSTATE "DOOM"...
by You Know inas the last days wind down to their dramatic conclusion, prophecies that were heretofore obscure, over time have now come more sharply into focus.
one such prophecy that bears review is the oft-quoted verse concerning the "increasing of lawlessness.
" typically the watchtower has pointed to increasing criminal lawlessness in the world as evidence of the fulfillment of that particular feature of the sign of christ's imminent arrival.

YouKnow,
The biggest apostates of all are the GB ! If the angels are going to "clean house", I suggest they start at the top.
As for us "apostates" here on the forum, we are opposers of the GB and their false teachings; making us apostates to the apostates."Never lose your ignorance - it cannot be replaced."

Issue Facing Apostates
by Mishnah inmost of the stuff posted here is negative, hateful, and blasphemous against god.
even if many of you are right in saying that the jws are wrong on many and important issues, that does not make you right.
so unless you are convinced that there is no biblical god you are facing serious trouble when you die or if the lord comes during your lifetime.

Misnah,
A number of people told Chris Columbus that if he sailed far enough in one direction he would fall right off the edge of the earth. Using your reasoning, he should have stayed home ! -

Concept of the future
by OrangeBlossom ingrowing up in the borg, planning for the future was never thought of for me or my family.
for instance, i heard things like, .
"you'll never go to school" .

What really riles me is the "true believers" who, on the one hand profess to believe all the "armageddon is right around the corner" crap; yet continue to plan for a secure retirement. My wife's parents fall into this category and they see no hipocracy in it whatsoever!

DreamMaster,
It seems to me that you both are spending time online that takes away from your relationship with each other. Wouldn't it be better to make each other's fantasies come true IN PERSON ? -

You have three minutes - talk fast!
by expatbrit inalright, i'm fed up with the shit going all one way!.
today i had my periodic phone conversation with the family back in the uk.
as usual, they veered the conversation around to "the truth".. "did you go to the meeting?

Expatbrit,
I humbly suggest this:Dear Mom & Dad,
The GB have said that they are "just imperfect men". After a lenghty study of WT literature, I must admit this is true. On my own I could never have dreamed of the strange teachings and doctrines that the GB have presented as "truth". Therefore, in my search for God I now consider the GB to be a hinderance rather than a help. As your child I will always love you and I hope and pray that you will make time to study the entire history of WT teachings so that you will see why I believe it is nothing more thatn the opinions of imperfect men.All my love,

Question for any elder/recent ex-elder
by OrangeBlossom inthe elders keep dropping by every couple of saturday's after bookstudy to check on us and try to encourage us back to meetings.
it has worked out that my husband has been gone when they visit so they keep coming back hoping to catch him sometime.
anyway, i told my hubby that we should at least go to the meetings once a week to keep them off our trail, which i went this past thursday night and wouldn't you know it the one elder approached me and mentioned that they still want to sit down with us and go over an article on meeting attendance.

OrangeBlossom,
When my wife stopped going to meetings, the elders came around "to talk". She simply told them "I don't want to talk about it" and "Theres nothing to discuss". Eventually though, she felt the need to DA.
If you try these replies it may work for awhile. However, if they want you out they will DA you without your consent. It has happened to many here. You may not even know when it happens.thinker

Larc,
When someone from this forum presents questions ands facts which an active JW cannot refute they attck the messenger because it is their only recourse. This is a common tactic used by many people, not just JWs.
You asked, "Why do they come here in the first place? It is against the rules." While the WT has come out with warnings about the internet I don't think many active JWs see these warnings as a definite prohibition (yet).
Also, "How do they handle the obvious cognitive dissonance they must have, when they can not successfully defend their faith?" It seems to me that JWs are experts at burying their own doubts. They are taught that the doubts and questions they have are not because of the conflicted messages and history of the WT, but are caused by their own "spiritual weakness".
I have been thinking about this alot lately. Logic and reason does not reach the emotional need that atracted these persons to the WTBTS in the first place and the truly heartfelt emotional stories presnted here are dismissed as "lies". How then do we get though to an active JW? -

The Rainbow as a sign to Noah
by Simon ini don't know if this has ever been brought out - i just thought of it:.
the bible tells us that it rained for forty days and forty nights.. it stopped raining and noah & co floated around for a bit.. when they landed, noah sacrificed some of the animals (weren't they in short supply?
) and god promised never to bring a deluge upon then earth again.. to back this up, there was a rainbow in the sky as a sign.. now, what causes a rainbow?

This is one of my favorites! This is what really happened: some guy sees the arc of colors in the sky, knows it's magical because it appears and disappears. The sky, he KNOWS is heaven. The arc is bent like a bow (no arrows). Must be God's weapon hanging peacefully on the wall of heaven. Presto! Story of great flood follows. The End.
Besides, we all know a genesis day is 7000 yrs. long, so the flood lasted 280,000 yrs. God also had to drown out the evil Nephalim caused by horny angels and evil earth women.
