get ready to meet your god o israel, is no doubt a meaningless phrase to those who have no fear of god.

those who in their presumptuousness imagine that there will not be a day when jehovah settles accounts with his people can only be described as faithless and apostate.

but, for those who fear god the prospect of jehovahs impending judgment both fills one with dread and awe.

The ancient nation of Israel had corrupt and wicked rulers and yet they practiced a form of true religion, which was the very thing that made them accountable to Jehovah in the first place. Apostates are particularly ignorant of Jehovah's judgments, and to that end have allowed themselves to become unwitting pawns of the Devil who seeks to dredge up and exploit wrongdoing and error as proof that we are not Jehovah's organization.

Mat7:17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
Mat7:19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Jas3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

My JW friend tells me that the CO gave a talk Sun. The topics were "those dirty priests" and "keep away from lying apostates". My friend was probably the only one there who knew WHY the CO picked these topics (Dateline).
Funny how she got the real scoop from us "lying apostates"
Oh yeah, she also heard that all apostates left the Org. because they were "sinning".
The teller at the bank yesterday gave me an extra $20. I made a special trip to take it back. Not bad for a lying, sinning apostate...

So here's the start of a COMMUNITY JOURNAL. Just put down the date and add a thought or two. No replies required, just everyone's entry for that day.

what could be more unscriptural and illogical?

For nearly 100 years the Watchtower has been teaching that Jesus and Jehovah are the same person!

Everything that goes on before then DOESN'T MATTER, as far as things that happen around you, as long as you yourself do all you can to live in accordance with the bible.
Now I KNOW it's true; the watchtower can do anything they want and it wouldn't make a bit of difference to the die-hard cult members!

Stumbling and sex

let me see if i got this right.. if a brother sees some leg or cleavage, then this will stumble him and he will commit a sex crime and it is not his fault because he was stumbled.

it was the sister's fault.

does this same logic apply to children i.e., the child was cute, so it was their fault?.

Hi Larc,
With JW's obession with everything biblical, perhaps they see the example of Eve tempting Adam as the model...??? As I recall there are other references in the bible about men being tempted by women.
Sounds like a lame excuse to me. There was a popular saying a while back: "the devil made me do it". :)

Happy snakes & simple pleasures....

the other day at work i saw two harmless brown water snakes in a pool of water.

the pool was fed by two large pipes that allow a stream to pass under a road.

the water drops a couple feet from the pipe to the pool.

Well, here's a few of my simple pleasures:
Spending time with my wife.
Walking in the woods and watching the trees grow.
Marveling at the designs of the natural world.
Looking into the night sky.
Watching thunderstorms.

Why is heaven UP ?

how is it that heaven came to be in the sky?

the hebrew word for heaven can mean "the abode of god" or "the sky, atmosphere, etc".

the bible has hundreds of references to heaven being up in the sky.. is it a carryover from pagan religions which had gods for the sun, moon, stars, etc...?

Perhaps the large number of mysterious and unknown occurances in the sky (movement of sun, moon, stars; thunder, lightning, rainbows, rain, wind,etc..) caused men to believe God resided there.
What do you think? Why is heaven UP?
