at my local kmart there is always a jw table set up.
i dont get close enough to actually see what literature is set on the table but close enough to view the free bible study sign prominently displayed in the midst of books, etc.. generally, this card table is manned by two or three young women.
Just a thought. If this example is from K-Mart does anyone know if Wal-Mart has cheaper salvation. (Buy 24 pack of Dr. Pepper get free 3-month course for salvation.) Can you get family sized salvation packages at Sam's Club? I bet the Mormon's could offer a deal there. Join the LDS and have all your relatives back to Adam baptized.

I often look up the JW literature desk at the Minneapolis/St. Paul airport when passing through or meeting someone. (I always ask for the very latest magazines and refuse anything less than the current month...I don't think they should get away with dumping old magazines.)
There is never anyone on the passenger's side at the desk when I've been there. On one occasion I caught the two middle-aged ladies underlining their Watchtowers. I thought "how conveeeeenient," count time in FS and do your Watchtower rather than waste time at home with it.
I did have some fun last January. I posted the exchange bewteen me and the two ladies on H2O. If anyone is interested I'll post it here.

ok this will be my first year participating in halloween.
i grew up a jw, so have never enjoyed it as a kid or as an adult.. so, i need some guidance!.
what do i do when the little bastards come to the door?.

You have two choices:
1. Buy lots of candy, stay home and pass the candy to the array of monsters who come to the door.
2. Buy costume, knock on other people's doors and say "trick or treat" then collect candy.
Halloween is great fun. The first year in my house I bought a load of Candy. My son went out trick or treating and came back with a load of candy. About six kids turned up at our house that was all. I think it was Easter before the two of us had finished eating the candy.
We live at the end of a cul-de-sac with about 10 houses in the road. There are no sidewalks and no street lights and I think the kids avoid the road because of the slim pickings. Last year I wore my sons mask from the previous year. I embarrassed my wife by hobbling along behind her shouting "I vant to see der chilldren, I vant to see der chilllldren"....She doesn't quite get into the spirit of it.

this is just a few thoughts that i have regarding the subject of anonimity.
yes, i am making this post after being in the chat room with several others including kent and prisca.
it seemed to me that kent posted prisca's pic mainly out of sheer mischievousness and was quite taken aback at her very real distress at having her identity exposed.
This is my opinion. I don't normally post with my real name. I started with Thirdson on the old H20 back in January 2000 but prior to that I had posted on other boards with my first name. (I post on Beliefnet as Thirdson as well. On these public boards I use a handle. Casual visitors aren't going to be able to put a real person to my handle. I don't wish my parents to know how involved I am with critical discussion of the Watchtower Society. BTW I can also be found on the exJW listing via Randy Watters board...my sister-in-law spotted me there.
However, long time visitors, or those who have read my bio would easily be able to link me to the real person assuming they knew me prior. I post a real picture and enough fairly unique facts to tie Thirdson to a former elder in the English Midlands from a large family who relocated to the USA in 1995. If JWs who knew me are visiting here then they are having doubts and are welcome to e-mail me. For those who do e-mail me I usually reply via my main e-mail account with the request not add it to mail lists or share it with other people.

i luuuuuvvvvved it!.
rented it the other night, wasn't feeling good, drank some wine - and laughed, and laughed, and laughed, and laughed.. lord, that poor girl lived through some of the same things common to all - particularily women, however.. i had no idea how good it was or i would have seen it sooner!.

It is a good movie. You should read the two books they are really, really funny. I obtained a copy of the British book from my parents before it was published in the US. I took it to read while I waited in line for 3 hours at the INS (just to get a stamp in my passport).
Anyway, there were some points I had to stop reading because I could hardly hold back the roaring laughter!
Since then the book has been published in the US and translated for a US readership. (weights are converted to pounds from stones as an example...I not sure how "getting savaged by Jeremy Paxman" can be translated or whether the context helps.)
I obtained the follow up book last year in London just to get a British edition. Using Colin Firth to play Mark D'arcy presents some problems when it comes to making the film sequel though.

some of you know me now and i just thought you might like to know how i got to know jehovahs witnesses and whats an sda bloke doing on a jw board.
well it all started in the mid 80s when i got to be friends with a jw bloke who was working bricklaying for my dad invited me to the memorial.
i said i would go but i felt i would be happier going with someone else that i knew better to go with me there as i didnt quite know what to expect there.
