  I hope Ray's personal situation gets resolved. In the meantime to all WOL refugees and long time WOL lurkers, welcome to this board. Sign-up make yourself known and join our community.   Head coverings, prayer and women

  is the wts view on women praying publically still the same as it was in the 70s?

  the article "should you cover your head during prayer" watchtower 2/15/77 page 46 and a "question from readers" 6/15/77 are the last references i have to this particular jw custom.. has anything more recent been published?.

  this is an evil idea so be warned.

  i was just thinking back and it came to me how easy it would have been to steel money from the controbution boxes in the congos i use to attend.just volontier to clean the hall at the end of every month and skim away.no one would suspect a thing because cntrobutions are annonymous.and if you where in the right position at bethel you could skim some serious cash.and if somehow you ever got caught i think the sociaty would be reluctant to prosacute in a public court cause of the negative press.anyone else have this bad thought?

  Gopher is right on the procedure. I was told by a CO several stories of stealing from the collection box done via the accounts servant. When I did the accounts I always had my assistant or another brother verify the takings on the day and sign for it. That way when the accounts were audited I had proof that the money banked was as counted. (If I worked with my assistant we could could have stolen money but then again it was a measley small amount.)

  i am too young to know what actually happened before and during 1975, but you know said this to me, and i would like some more information.. quote.

  I could have said exactly the same. I was baptized in 1975 in a swimming somewhere in Wolverhampton. I have a kid who will be going to college in four years time. As for the dying part my parents attended a funeral this week for one long time JW in an old UK congregation. My dad told me this week that a "sister" I knew (wife of the former PO of my last UK cong) has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Her husband who is in his mid-70s is also showing signs of the disease. He was raised as a JW and lived through WW2 expecting the end "any day now." "The end" for so many will be their own natural deaths. I expect my end to be the same but I don't live life in a dream anymore.

  How Long A JW ( Baptised )?

  i frequently read on this board that somebody has 'been a jw for over 25 years' and then learn that they are in fact 25 years and three days old.. i am very easily confused, in fact i actually got inside a car of similar color to my own recently and spent at least five minutes with a furrowed brow trying to force my car key into its ignition, fortunately, i realised my error before i was arrested.

  so, just to humor me, can you all post how long you were/are baptised jw's?.

  the two articles i'm going to present are going to be an indictment of fred william franz.

  i consider franz to be the second most evil man in watchtower history, next to joseph franklin rutherford, if you measure the term "evil" not only by motive and action, but by the sheer numbers of people adversely affected from it.. when people were in his presence, franz's good sense of humor, apparent modesty and geeky way of dressing made him instantly likeable: up until the instant you crossed him or one of his interpretations, according to his nephew raymond franz.

  when jesus was on earth the devil approached him quoting scripture in order to tempt and entrap him.

  it is no wonder then that the apostate angel would be behind the effort to use the scriptures against jehovahs people today in order to mislead them.

  one of the most cunning and effective uses of scripture against us by satans agents is the charge that we are false prophets.

  I haven't read all of this thread but it is funny how YK gets so much attention with his prophetic justifications. Both the Watchtower and You Know are false prophets in the Biblical or any normal sense of the words "prophet" and "false".

  Two years ago on this day we watched the year's number roll-over to '00' from countries all around the world. For a lot of us we expected that we had done our jobs correctly and couldn't imagine much of an impact on world commerce because of the date problem. You Know was making his usuual predictions about the end of the world being imminent or at least the Great Tribulation starting. Come January 2 YK was back to making excuses such as the Y2K problem not being as big a problem as he had been led to believe.

  So here we go again. YK has been around for half a decade now with his prophet's (false) hat on and still making excuses. Did he ever pay-up for the wager he lost in October?

  My favorite quote from the elder school:

  Some women work outside of the home to elevate their standard of living. This way they develop their own sense of independence, and this can be very dangerous.

  "This can be dangerous," true, sisters might find out that they are actually valuable, skilled and productive members of society and equal to if not better than the "brothers". I think this will go down well when elders start giving talks on women staying home to care for the family, going out in mid-week FS etc.

  OM Book on-line?

  a question: does anyone know if the om book (organized to accomplish our ministry) is available on line.

  i am particularly interested in the 80 questions and anything to do with elder ms qualifications.

  i lost mine several years ago when i stripped down my library to a small number of books and the cd-rom.. i'd be willing to buy a hard copy and cover the shipping costs if anyone has a spare.. thanks,.
