What's great about my accent is the simple fact that my parents and literally everyone else in my family (both sides) lives in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana. So, I have a southern twang with a touch of Yankee. It makes for some interesting looks from people. Like when I say I want a "pop". Everyone in the south calls anything carbonated "coke"...no matter if it's Sprite, Pepsi, Mt Dew, or Coke-a-Cola. It's all coke. That's just stupid to me. lol I either call the drink by its name or "pop", i.e., "I want a pop. Will you pick me up a Rockstar?" haha

What's a " re-headed step" ? Two red headed step kids?
Southern belle eh? I'm a Brit whose in love with southern accents since I discovered them on " The Walking Dead" .Yes, I have two legitimately bright-red-headed step kids. Although, I don't treat them any different than my own two. :) They're really a great fit in my family. I'm very close to my step daughter. We're a lot alike...loud, bossy, demanding, needy, and in love with the same man (she just calls him Deddy instead of Darling).
Yup. Southern Belle, here. I can guarantee that my accent is the real deal, unlike on TWD. BUT!! Where they film, Senoia, is 30 minutes from where I live. The town they're "in", Woodbury, is 15-20 minutes down Hwy 74 from my house, and they've shut down Sprewell Bluff (pronounced "Sproo-will") to film a couple seasons ago, and I go there just about every other weekend or so during the summer to swim and sun on the Flint River. I've thought about being an extra...but I just don't have that kind of time. haha There's a TWD store in Senoia, and there have been a lot of local people that have eaten with, run into, and befriend some of the cast members. Also, in the Hunger Games Mockingjay, I forget which one, "Sector 9" was filmed in an abandoned cotton mill in my hometown right behind my house. Here's the "big news" that Hollywood was in town.
If you'd like to hear what I used to do in my spare time, and hear my accent, check this out. I haven't updated in over 4 years. I should probably get to it...hahaha

Message from Designer Stubble to the former JWR members
by Designer Stubble inmessage from designer stubble to the former jwr members.
first of all i am glad to see that many of you have found your way to this great forum, facilitated by simon.
i am sure that after the dust of the jwr shutdown has settled, you will find this to be a good new home.. i would like to apologize for the sudden closure of jwr.

DS- You and Pal were my favorite admins, by far. I loved Rifter's attitude and how he was "business as usual", and in all honesty, this is exactly what I'd expect from him. He's keeping true to his form and I can't blame him for that.
Thank you for still offering us support and helping us through this transition. You're an amazing guy, and I hope you still pop in every once in a while. :) xo

Welcome y'all from JWR - any questions?
by Simon ini just wanted to take a minute to say "hi" and welcome to the site for anyone who's come here from jwr.
i can imagine the site being shut down suddenly was shocking and unsettling for many who relied on it and sometimes you don't realize how much you do rely on something until it is gone.. hopefully you'll see some of the same familiar names appearing and be able to reconnect with people you knew via this site and continue your journey together.
i don't know what the posting policies on jwr were but know it as a moderated site so can't imagine them being hugely different to the ones here.

Kingdom Hall Dedication this Saturday
by punkofnice inby invite only!.
my jw spy tells me that this is in st paul's road, peterborough.. as far as i can tell, he tells me some corporation bully boy is coming over from bethel.
so, the local jws have been tasked to clean it so it's fit for this visiting dignitary.. of course there are only a certain amount of invites available and nepotism rules.

Since when have the KH dedications been by invitation only? I thought that this was a "congregation celebration" of sorts...? I mean, they'll all be using the hall, so why can't they all attend? What kind of cigar club bs is this crap?!
As for the building used...when was buying an old church building from the Beast ok? ESPECIALLY for a KH. I wonder if there will be conspiracy theories about demons still being in the building or something. haha

It's completely different from JWR. That was the most commonly used format, and the oldest and easiest to use, too. Not much for attractiveness, but that wasn't the goal when it was created.
So far, I think I've got the hang of this place. The top menu bar is where you get around. Or, you can go to "Home" or "Topics". If you go "Home", you'll be taken back to the main forum categories. Topics are the subforum categories. Quoting...that was kind of difficult. What I do (haha like I have soooo much experience) is I copy/paste the OP's statement, type my response, then highlight their statement and press the quote button.
Hope that helps! Glad to see another familiar name. :)

Intro
by Exjwme inyou can all call me jess, i guess you can say i'm a "refugee" from jwr.
i'm going to try and keep this short for now, i'm in my early 20s, i was born in but never baptized, i've been mentally out for 7 years and fully out for about 5ish.
despite never having been baptized my fading took quite a bit of time and work.

Crushed and devastated as well. Hopefully we can have a day or two to capture some posts/contact information. Hopefully that would be enough time to PM each other with another way to stay in contact with such critical friends we have made over our recovery time. XxBe Free
Awwwe Jane! BeFree! You guys. </3 I'll miss our little place. I feel like how all the Scene kids felt last week in Atlanta when the Masquerade was tore down... :(
