When I was fully in, and before, and young, like many young people I was immortal, and lived dangerously to prove it. Dying never entered my mind. Did I doubt it could go on forever, of course not, I survived all those Motorcycle crashes didn't I ? was I working for wt, at 30cts an hour, looking for a reward? no, living was a reward enough, so yes I lived without an end so far. did I believe wt promises? it did not matter.

When you were fully in, did you believe that you would not die?
by TTWSYF ini know that it must seem silly to ask, but my brother and his family think that the big a will arrive before they die.
i tried to explain to my brother that everyone else who has ever lived in the past has died and only jesus has [physically] rose from the dead.. it is amazing that anyone could buy that line.
what crazy cult culture that could make people believe such nonsense?!.

Origin of Life
by cofty inin recent years significant progress has been made in solving the question of how life originated on our planet.. how do you think theists will respond when it finally happens?
as a former christian i know my reaction would have been something like "well that just goes to show that it takes intelligent life to make life", but for two reasons that defense doesn't work.. firstly it would prove that life is not an ethereal force that originates with god.
there is no 'ghost in the machine', no elan vital.

Ruby456: "--here let me give you some science - life is continuous chemical reaction
A chemical reaction that is contagious and has been going on for ~4 billion years, and has succeeded to transform itself into the most convoluted structures allowed by the niches it moved into. It has resisted replication since the days of Louis Pasteur. Cofty's well defined questions are really an invitation to speculate on the reaction of believers to an event that has not happened yet, an emperor straw man that *** so far has no cloths, or?
*** I was tempted to change that to "who" has no cloth, but that would be giving life, oxidisation to inert straw, previously alive. producing even more "hot air" in the process.

When synthetic organic life fires up, and comparisons can be made, then it will be time to see the reactions.

Midweek meeting video
by aboveusonlysky indid anybody see the service meeting video this week?.
australian sister was sexually abused as a child and thought of ending her life at 14 years old, sometime later jw's call on her father who accepts a study and eventually the whole family becomes witnesses, life gets much better as the sister immerses herself in pioneering etc, she still has some dark days but prayer along with going for walks and swimming has helped her cope with bad memories of child abuse, the new system (just around the corner) will completely fix everything......... i'm dumbfounded, the hypocrisy has literally rendered me speechless......comments anybody?.

We: " "hat seeds are planted in the minds of people that its' only the bad worldly people that abuse children.
and even the evil world does not report those crimes to the police (or mention it) , and when a victim converts to Wt's religion, we do not counsel, require them to go to the police either, after all, he was a family friend. Now: we are a world -wide family, so:--. same OZ production, appropriate attire at the same beach.

In a debate, argumentation,- to observers-, the gems of knowledge, of unexpected insight*** and the novel ways to present them often gets lost in the mud of mudslinging,, which is too bad. One debating technique is also, to denigrate , provoke, decimate, tire out your chosen target which is hilarious to some, but contributes nothing to enlighten the learners here.
*** was not the term "big bang" the product of an intense debate, a snide comment really? and talking of Ruby's "god outside the Universe" comment:
If a supposed creator was present during the big bang, and at that point in time was not outside the universe, he must have been of negative size. As it is, she is probably still outside the universe, cradling us in her inside. Interesting article on BBC ?: scientist are close to producing offspring from ova or even sperm alone. life at it's most basic reproduction.

It would be a real shame if a unique event, like a solar flare of a certain frequency agitated the pre-bio compounds into firing up the energy gradient use, the inheritance scenario, and-- the inability to find and replicated it (even if you have all the ingredients right) for a long time, will be interpreted as only "God did it directly" --see!

How Will Armageddon Begin?
by Cold Steel inand how long will it last?
and who will come after that, yahweh, as the old testament says or jesus, as the new testament says?
the scriptures say he'll come to the mount of olives, but surely that's a spiritual mount of olives.

regardless of what the bible says, I believed Armageddon would be triggered at the very beginning of a MAD nuclear exchange. Before any targets are hit.

The most sick statement put in JW print
by Chook inwt 1973 p568.
"did you know, for example, that mothers and fathers that stroke the genitals of their fretful babies to keep them quiet are unwittingly encouraging them to become maturbators later on?".
what sick fu... writing this article thought the the average person did this to keep kids quiet..

Jehovah's Love - or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Death
by undercover inthis idea was inspired by another post i saw (but forget who or where) referencing the mootness of delaying armageddon now that the 1914 generation is gone.
(i just skimmed over the post and thread, and didn't give it much thought until later).
wt doctrine basically says that jehovah, through his undeserved love, allows wickedness so that people can hear, and accept, the 'truth', thus being saved from the destruction of armageddon.

Jesus is supposed to have compared Armageddon to the flood. Only 12 out of the whole world survived;-- tens of thousand were building Pyramids in Egypt alone, so perhaps the present population is allowed to expand to bring the ratio of "survivors / killed babies et al" into line with the floods numbers?

C: "in fact endowing satan's followers with the gift of life giving,-- I don't get.
The wt version of the bible flood story has the fallen immaterial "sons" of god "materialize" , or create human flesh&blood to cohabit with the gorgeous, near perfect females. The newly created males were ready to pass on life. so: does that not mean God had granted to others, the angels live-creating and passing-on capacity (this strain of life was different from Adam's genetics package)? of course this is all bollocks, but fodder for the gullible, and a continuing argument in wt's options to deal with the inevitable.
