The memorial songs sucked.
by DATA-DOG ini don't know who the idiots are that write, or approve these songs, ( the creative team of lett and tomo??
) but they suck!!
there is a line in the first song ( # 147 ) that blatantly contradicts the wtbts dogma of the heavenly calling being an invitation as opposed to a sure thing.

Neither was the new covenant. How do you give a talk (or compose, sing a song) about the wine, The cup that means the new covenant without mentioning it? not in the outline! but the wine is not supposed to be fortified! no brandy, no stills in Memorial Land. -

Evolution vs Creationism.
by Labate inperhaps this has been discussed in the past, but i can't help noticing that on many posts creation vs evolution seems to equal theist vs atheist.
granted, a creationist by defination would have to believe in a creator.
on the other hand, believing in evolution doesn't automatically make one an atheist, a small point perhaps, but i think it would be more accurate to say believer vs nonbeliever.. just sayin'..

New Memorial Songs Were Very Good, IMO
by RubaDub ini guess we can agree to differ, but i personally found the new memorial songs (147, 149) to be very good, at least from a musical perspective.
.

The orchestration had some grandeur too it, admittedly, the melodies no negatives, but the "lift" was not at the scale that the old masters, Bach , Haydn provided, religiously. -

Note: immortality is not mentioned.., neither was it in the memorial talk. many just stood there voiceless. -

If God is all powerful why did it take six days
by James Mixon inif god is omnipotent (all powerful) why did he take six days (or six thousand years jw.org) to.
crete everything.
why not speak everything into existence all at once?

It took so long because he had to respect the shelf life of things like stars that need billions of years to ripen, explode and spill their guts, stuff that he needed to keep working. With god a day is like billions of years, -

Stupid memorial obsessions
by Simon inall the different congregations around the world hold it at similar local times but they all effectively are at different times relative to each other ... so why does the time matter?.
why the almost superstitious "oh, it must be after sundown".
cause it's not sundown everywhere that second.. god knew the earth was round ... right?.

And why the reversal? in the last supper the anointed abstained and the earthly class ate and drank, now it is the other way around? the anointed drink, nibble, and the OS abstain? -

2016 Memorial Done & Dusted
by steve2 inwell on this side of the planet, the southern hemisphere/ new zealand, the 2016 memorial service in local kingdom halls will be over for another year.
another great big anticlimax.
some family and relatives will have gone - but unless i ask my sister, i generally have no idea about attendance and partaker numbers.

Surprised that this year's memorial talk outline did not mention the New Covenant, given that the "cup" of wine is supposed to picture just that. Surprising too, that the kingdom covenant is alleged to be part of the last supper celebration, when in fact it crept up at least a year earlier in the text. (Math 19:28). The Luke reference places the kingdom covenant proposal well after the conclusion of the last supper. so, if you hoped for a broader understanding of the celebration, partaking, not yet, wt is tightening down, giving importance to the few at the top. wt is skewing the explicit details of the texts. why? -

Pshycos! - 2016 "Remain Loyal to Jehovah" Regional Convention Program

i think how much emphasis this puts on "loyalty" shows their is an issue.
they're trying to plug the wholes as much and quickly as possible.

Lieu: "--Be like David? Isn't he the guy who rewarded "loyal" Uriah--" Wt loves using David, because like that adulterous murderer, they want to justify their grave misdeeds, and get away with it. Parallel examples: By using his men to collaborate in procuring Bathsheba for sex for with him. David encouraged Uriah to break "god's" law on combatant's conduct by having Uriah sleep with his wife. By forcing Joab to collude in the murder of Uriah. His disloyalty to make the census, (counting, reports in wt anyone?), causing the death of 10s of thousands. ----
The David example giving carte blanche to the wt leader--ship (wreck).

They want to get rid of "anointed ones" - It's getting clear
by thedepressedsoul ini've never met a group that turns on it's members like the jw's.
sister faithful that thinks she's anointed is now bat shit crazy with mental illness.
we all have known it's true, but now you have the wt, who put it in everyone's head that you can be anointed.

tort1500. try this: In Rev 7, the 144000 come out of the 12 tribes, so like the apostles who had an earthly hope first, are the first of the :sealed anointed to do so. Therefore the 12 tribes are symbolically people on earth, worshippers. The sealing happens when a christian is killed for his faith, with the ax or other sharp instrument, Rev.20. wt is wrong, but if there is no talking snake, does it matter? -

Friday 6-12, Jesus was loyal to the supposed "Jehovah's organisation" still in force in his day, but that did not stop him from exposing the errors of the establishment in no uncertain terms and actions. That is the kind of loyalty I can live with. and
It reminds me of the rallying talks in the Nazi propaganda in 1945. Does wt think their demise is that close?
