Did the Brother giving the Memorial talk mention Nisan 14 ???
by RubaDub inin our congregation, the brother mentioned nisan 14 a dozen times.. i thought, with the fact the jewish calendar has nisan 14 in april this year (april 22 i believe) that the nisan 14 thing would be hushed up.. was it mentioned where you attended?.

if Jesus was the second Adam (and the bible is right) he should have been allowed to outlive "our oldest ancestor" by 70 years, and live to past the "one day" thousand years, to prove that he really deserved that title "last Adam".also:
Adam's story has him prompted to eat the fruit by a naked, perfect female that had prepared a meal. ( if you balk at the dish, you might be deprived of other goodies for the next 970 years!). not a choice that Jesus ever was subjected to as far as we know, or?

Stupid memorial obsessions
by Simon inall the different congregations around the world hold it at similar local times but they all effectively are at different times relative to each other ... so why does the time matter?.
why the almost superstitious "oh, it must be after sundown".
cause it's not sundown everywhere that second.. god knew the earth was round ... right?.

How about some fish and veges . The original last supper story had actually roast lamb (an awful taste if you do not know what you are doing) and bitter herbs and Gravy.
I got caught in misinterpreting the memorial tradition, thought the eclipse was during memorial night time, no, it was in the darkness preceding the memorial night, in my location at least. No partaking under a red glowing moon.

The memorial songs sucked.
by DATA-DOG ini don't know who the idiots are that write, or approve these songs, ( the creative team of lett and tomo??
) but they suck!!
there is a line in the first song ( # 147 ) that blatantly contradicts the wtbts dogma of the heavenly calling being an invitation as opposed to a sure thing.

Neither was the new covenant. How do you give a talk (or compose, sing a song) about the wine, The cup that means the new covenant without mentioning it? not in the outline! but the wine is not supposed to be fortified! no brandy, no stills in Memorial Land. -

Evolution vs Creationism.
by Labate inperhaps this has been discussed in the past, but i can't help noticing that on many posts creation vs evolution seems to equal theist vs atheist.
granted, a creationist by defination would have to believe in a creator.
on the other hand, believing in evolution doesn't automatically make one an atheist, a small point perhaps, but i think it would be more accurate to say believer vs nonbeliever.. just sayin'..

New Memorial Songs Were Very Good, IMO
by RubaDub ini guess we can agree to differ, but i personally found the new memorial songs (147, 149) to be very good, at least from a musical perspective.

The orchestration had some grandeur too it, admittedly, the melodies no negatives, but the "lift" was not at the scale that the old masters, Bach , Haydn provided, religiously. -

Note: immortality is not mentioned.., neither was it in the memorial talk. many just stood there voiceless. -

If God is all powerful why did it take six days
by James Mixon inif god is omnipotent (all powerful) why did he take six days (or six thousand years jw.org) to.
crete everything.
why not speak everything into existence all at once?

It took so long because he had to respect the shelf life of things like stars that need billions of years to ripen, explode and spill their guts, stuff that he needed to keep working. With god a day is like billions of years, -

And why the reversal? in the last supper the anointed abstained and the earthly class ate and drank, now it is the other way around? the anointed drink, nibble, and the OS abstain? -

2016 Memorial Done & Dusted
by steve2 inwell on this side of the planet, the southern hemisphere/ new zealand, the 2016 memorial service in local kingdom halls will be over for another year.
another great big anticlimax.
some family and relatives will have gone - but unless i ask my sister, i generally have no idea about attendance and partaker numbers.

Surprised that this year's memorial talk outline did not mention the New Covenant, given that the "cup" of wine is supposed to picture just that. Surprising too, that the kingdom covenant is alleged to be part of the last supper celebration, when in fact it crept up at least a year earlier in the text. (Math 19:28). The Luke reference places the kingdom covenant proposal well after the conclusion of the last supper. so, if you hoped for a broader understanding of the celebration, partaking, not yet, wt is tightening down, giving importance to the few at the top. wt is skewing the explicit details of the texts. why?
