Well, first of all, my mom still talks to me. I love her very much, and I know that she loves me so much, too. Maybe because my dad is not a JW, we have family dinner together on the weekends. In fact she insisted on that.
Regarding other JWs, I have a business that deals with children. Today I learned that all my JWs' children would like to stay with me. The children are not baptized JWs yet, and as long as the parents ( devouted JWs ) and I don't have direct communication too much esp. on "spiritual matter", they think it is o.k. Now, I told them and my mom that the WTS changed their policy regarding DA ones. They still think it is o.k. as long as I'm not an active apostate. Well, I know that's kinda .... you know what I mean. But these kids needs a lot of help as well. I cannot just abandon them. I want to help these kids. Forget the parents. Some of these kids were coming out of serious depression. They are now beginning to gain some self-esteem and confidence. I really hated when I thought I had to let them go. I've already contacted by others (non-JWs) for my time. But I think I'll save it for these JW kids.
Pat, call your son or send him another email that you have a change of heart or that you would like to hear from him what he thinks of this matter. He is your son. I can tell that you love him very much. I see in this forum that many are bittered and angry at not only the WTS but also at the JWs in general. We all know that the WTS is to blame mostly, but I don't think we should let this issue take over our rational thinking ability and our love toward our friends and esp. toward our family. I know that some JWs are like robots; they can turn their "friendship switch" on and off at the command of the WTS. But as you may know and I know that most of them are meek. Don't you think that's why they became JWs in the first place?
I don't know how old your sons are. But I know that you are in a very difficult situation. Try to be patient and understanding toward your JW son. I bet he is very frustrated. He probably thinks that he has lost his mom and brother. He may not know how to act. Maybe that's why he's been so rude and mean to you and your Shunned son.
Tell him you still love him. Tell him you are still his mother, and he is your baby. Um...I'm not sure if he is going to like the "baby" part. ;-) Tell him you all are one family. Mother's love is a God given gift. I do not think any human being has a right to deny that, not even the WTS. Tell him you understand his standing. Tell him you would never hate him just because he is a JW. And most of all, tell him again that YOU are his mother and that you love him so very much.
I'm a DA'd one. I don't have any harsh feeling toward the JWs, um...maybe except for the WTS and some really really mean JWs. ;-) As I posted somewhere I think they are "victims of victims" and "followers of followers" just like Ray Franz said. Remember, Pat, that we used to be one of them. As former JWs, don't you think we should understand them more than anyone?

Patio34, I love your ID: "potential apostate but uncaught." I think that's what I am, too. LOL
I have to agree with both Hmmm and belbab. Ask your JW son how much shunning he is going to take on you and your Shunned son, and also ask your Shunned son how much he can take on the JW son. You'd never know. I found out today that not all JWs are respecting the WTS's shunning policy strictly. It was a surprise.

Can owning/reading apostate material get me DF'ed?
by PandaJ inhello, first time poster, long time reader.. i was wondering just what my title asks.
if i own/read/admit to apostate material, can that get me df'ed?.
i know better then to admit that i believe the apostate material to the elders, or that i disagree with the society's teachings, but will simply admitting to owning and reading them get me df'ed?.

PandaJ, I went through almost the same thing for myself.
I wasn't really raised as a JW. My family is not JW except for my mom. I'm not married to or have a child who is a JW either. I don't know your situation well, but I can tell you that mine is quite simple compare to others.
First, ask yourself when you began to have this "doubt". Was it before you read "Crisis of Conscience" or after you read it? If it was after, then have you done any research to confirm what Ray Franz says in that book? I'm not trying to discredit Ray. I read the same book for myself and respect his courage and conscience. If I get to meet him, I would love to give him a big hug.
The reason that I ask above questions is that I don't think you should make a such big decision based on hearsay. Then the elders and other JWs get to have an excuse to say,"See. He read an apostate material, and he left God." I DO NOT think Ray's book is an apostate material at all.
For me I began to have a doubt almost from the beginning of my life as a JW. Yeah, and I stayed for over 12 years. But when the Child abuse case came along, I just couldn't take it any more. And then I got to do more research, and decided to follow my conscience. I DID have a crisis of conscience for myself.
I believe no one can and should not live a life of lie. But do not make the decision hastily or by popular opinion. There ARE people who were DF or DA going back to the JW organization. I'm sure they have their own reasons. For me I would never go back. But for you, I don't know. I'm not in the position to say that. So give it a lot of thought so that later years you can look back and say, "I did the right thing, and I never regret."

DONT RIDICULE ANOINTED ONES!!
by 11thHour ini am so sorry that you all have to tease and ridicule, when it is in our hearts to serve like christ did, but jesus, was ridiculed, he was young, i know a young anointed sister who gave this interesting illustration, jesus was a common name back then, and he was from an unpopular town, nazareth,, so how would you all feel if he came today and was called carlos from pueblo?, .
many people thought he was crazy, and he was ridiculed and hated, .
matthew 19:30 states, "but many that are first will be last and the last first.

Well, the problem is, 11th, the so-called "annointed ones" are the ones putting themselve on the spot.
When I heard the letter ( regarding some changes on child abuse cases ) at the meeting right after Dateline aired, I had to say to myself, "Are they stupid or what?" Dateline contacted them months ago ( even a year ) regarding the case. If they sent the letter then, it wouldn't look this bad. But for some reason they, "the annointed ones", had to wait for everyone to watch Dateline. And after all this publicity, they want to get their hands on Loris, Barbara, and Bill. And one of them is going to take place in a hotel room.
You tell me who's ridiculing whom; who's bringing reproach to God's name?

ANY CHANCE THE GB MEMBERS COULD BE SUBPEONED???
by Mary inif any of the child molestation cases actually go to court, or if any of those witnesses that get disfellowshipped sue the society, what are the chances that some of the governing body members would get subpeoned to testify in court?
to me, this would be the best thing that could happen: these morons having to testify in open court and having to answer some pretty tough questions about their absurd policies and why these people have been disfellowshipped.. they'd look as stupid as freddie franz did when he was in court and said that jehovah was the editor of the watchtower since 1931..............i can see these bozos saying the same thing:.
q: who decided that nothing would be done to pedophiles in the congregations, if they are elders?.

ha ha ha ha Good one, Mary!
But I'm afraid they are going to take the 5th just like other CEOs. Afterall it is the Watchtower And Tract Society Inc.

by Nanoprobe inwhat did helen clark mp mean in this statement, did the wtbs spokesman admit to the 23,720 number while jr says, it is false.?
is this in the bbc panaroma transcript or did wtbs admit the number to the mp in a different letter?
the spokesman from headquarters (in the united states) said on the .

That 23,720 is only for the U.S., Canada and Europe, huh? Hmmm......I wonder how the figure would change if you include Asia, Africa and Australia as well.

Letter of disassociation to my JW family
by Larry ingreetings - would some one please confirm that the aug 2002 km has the article entitled "display christian loyalty when a relative is disfellowshipped" i want to be accurate with my quotes in this letter.
speaking of which, i'm sending the below letter to my jw family - if you have time please let me know your thoughts -thanks - larry :).
to all my practicing jehovah witness family members:.

;-( Well, Larry, even though I'm one of disassociated ones, I think you are going a little bit too extreme especially when you said that you don't want any contact with your family. Granted they are JWs and don't even want to see your view, but they are your family. They are blinded, but don't you think you should show them what real love is like?
For me I try to let my mom know that I'm still her daughter who loves her very much, not demonized crazy girl because that's what exactly the JWs want to see from both Dfs and Das.
They ( your family ) might shun you, but don't shun them. If you do, you are agreeing and living by the WTS's policy, too. I do not agree with the WTS on DF/DA policy. That is not Christian since they coerced people to cut the ties with the friends and family outside of the organization.
Now you want to out of it, why do you want to do it now? Why do you want to do it to your family? Try to win over your family with loving care just like the Bible says. It might work even better. Your kids are going to say, "My dad is so nice, but how come uncle Johnny ( sorry for assuming name ) is so mean?"
You don't want them to think the other way around, do you? You may be angry at the WTS, but don't turn that anger to your family. Just a thought.

Blood Part 01 - The History of the Blood Doctrine
by JanH inthe history of the blood doctrine.
since a jehovah's witness (hereafter: jw) who refuses blood bases his or her decision on trust in the wisdom and divine leadership of the watch tower society (hereafter: wts), it will be instructive to look at the record of the wts in dealing with medical questions.
the current application of certain bible texts, notably acts 15:28,29, to support a blood prohibition for christians was not shared by its founder, charles taze russell.

( whispering ) I just hope Larsguy doesn't see this and keep his mouth shut. :-o ;-)
Thanks much, JanH, for your information.
