hi bill,.
i'm terribly curious, why didn't you go into that kingdom hall where the "secret" meeting took place after they taped up the windows?
maybe i didn't read your announcement thoroughly enough, but i can't seem to recall you mentioning if you were invited inside or not...?.
Sigh.....I'm sure he is going through a lot. He needs our support more than ever.
I worry about Farkel.

I guess they ( the jws) don't know that Bill planned the Sept. March before Panorama was aired.
I'd better keep my mouth shut. I'm afraid what I might say.

I want the government to get involved in this. I want them to teach these JWs that protecting the pedos is not only wrong but also a crime. I just couldn't finish reading that thread. It is pointless and ignorant.

they are a corporation in the u.s., a charity group in u.k. and was a cultural group in mexico until they got a tax break.
what else are they in different parts of the world?
or in how many countries is the wts registered as a religion?
They are a corporation in the U.S., a charity group in U.K. and was a cultural group in Mexico until they got a tax break. What else are they in different parts of the world? Or in how many countries is the WTS registered as a religion? Does anyone know?
Come to think of it, other religious groups never recognize themselves as corporations. I mean we all know how rich the Mormons are, but they always call themselves as The Church of J.C. Latter Day Saints, not the LDS Inc. Catholics are Catholics, and Baptists are Baptists. But the WTS is The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society Inc. in this country.
hmmmmm
as a few may recall watchtower policy has changed when circumstances serves the interest of the governing body in getting rid of someone they want to railroad.
an example that has been offered involves peter gregerson.
peter was a personal friend to ray franz, in 1980 peter wrote a letter to the society, saying he wanted no further association with the organization.
LOL@SYN
Bill said: Whatever the reason this is a policy I have never heard of when an appeal meeting is held.
And how many years have you been in the org.? Is there anyone on this planet who knows in and out of their policies? Even some elders in my ex-congregation didn't know about the child abuse policy of the WTS. Sheesh!
Spiceitup said: mental note to self----when in Korea do not eat "thousand year eggs"---those sound disgusting
That's Chinese not Korean. I don't like it, either.
after going back and forth in e-mail with my jw daughter, i got a chance to tell her about the wts` scandal with the un.
me being a mom still wanted to try and make a difference in my daughters life.
so i sent her an e-mail, i talked about every day goings on.

I'm sorry about your daughters. Are they married with children of their own? Please do not shun them. I've always been afraid that my mom might shun me, but I never bring out anything about the WTS. Whenever she does, I just go, "Whatever!" and change the subject. I also remind her about the WTS's policy that a jw shouldn't talk about spiritual matters with DA'd or DF'd person.
JWs think a DF'd or DA'd person as a sinner or someone whom they should be afraid of. The more emotional we get, the crazier they think we are. I've been there and done that with my mom. So I've kind of given up to the point that I wouldn't have her sit down and try to convince her.
witchywoman, I know you love your daughters very much. But I have to say to you that your desperate action might back fire at you. If I were you, I would just tell them that I would respect their choice as they would to mine. I don't think the WTS is going to get crazy as to commit mass suicide. If you keep trying to convince them, they are going to think they are persecuted by you. We covered that during Watchtower studies, didn't we? Let your daughters know you are still their loving mother who do not want to be shunned but to keep the relationship going. If you suggest shunning first, they might think you are abandoning them. That is the saddest thought to any child. I know that.

i was sorting through my bookshelves today and noticed that i had quite a few terrorist thrillers.. that is, books like the day of the jackal by frederick forsyth, black sunday by thomas harris, the fifth horseman by larry collins and rainbow six by tom clancy.. i'm wondering how other people feel.
do you still read those books?
or do you feel uncomfortable with them in the wake of the september 11 terrorist attacks?.
LOL@ Farkel
I prefer mysteries (esp. Agatha Christie's), but I would give it a try.
