Requalifying as an Elder

i'd like to throw something out to the exelders.. over the years since i stepped down as an elder, my dislike for the society and its ways has clearly grown.. but my love for the bible and my family and friends in the congregation has not got less.. i feel sorry that they are not mature enough to grasp the concept that you dont need the society to make god happy.. so i have been thinking ( and its just a crazy thought at the moment ) to requalify as an elder and to begin to really teach the truth.. to really challenge their thinking and take my talks to the limit without getting busted as a heretic.. whats youre thought?.

Why Isn't the USA the Safest Country in the World With All the Guns

we have 9 guns for every 10 people in this country.

since more guns = better protection, i keep asking myself why there is so much gun violence here ???.

i don't see such violence in canada, australia, europe, japan and other so-called "advanced" countries.. what is wrong with us here.

the problem in america in regards to guns ... is the people that own them.

americans are obsessed with being number one and have some stupid penis envy thing going on.

so when their life goes down the toilet because of family or work issues ( which they probably caused ) ... they feel less than worthless and go out blasting.

in my country if you got no wife ... got not job ... its time to go surfing.

in all honesty, this is the very issue that began my questioning of the society's teachings.
years ago when our kids were very young, they were quite ill.
as all parents, we often prayed like made that they would make it throught the night; asking for jehovah's protection.
then some time later ( a year or two ) a young boy in our congregation was hit by a car while riding his bike and died.
this affected me greatly ... for the boy's mother ( single in the truth ) had made such an effort to get into and remain in the truth and yet this had happened.
why did jehovah answer my prays to keep my children alive but not answer the prayers of the other sister's?
we were told of jehovah's loving protection but there seemed no real evdence or consistancy of it.
and all the while we were told not to critize someone the congregation who says jehovah answered their prayers for some cheep car so they can go pioneering.
how could jehovah value some rusty, piece of sh...t over that of the life of a child?
this was my problem.
the real truth i came to realize, was that jehovah does not protect anyone, nor give special favors dispite all our efforts.
and anyone who thinks otherwise will have their faith crushed by a great disapointment then tragidy comes to their door.
yet our magizines and the songs we sing at the kingdom hall continue to reinforce that false expectation.
in the end, it was the teaching of this false expectation and the injustice of it, that started my questioning of things because if God did not protect us, like we were told, what else could be wrong.

for me, i'm awaiting for october 2014.. and i'm interested to see how the brothers will react; both in print and in the kingdom hall.. have others thought that it's a bit odd that the eartly christian era was only 74 years in length ( from the baptizm of jesus in 26 ce to the death of the last of the apostals in 100 ad); but the last days are 100 years long?.

WT: World War I started in October 1914 (not July 1914)

according to the wt, these are the actual sequence of events that led to the start of world war i:.

1) the gentile times ended on october 1/2, 1914.

2) jesus took the throne immediately thereafter.. 3) one of jesus' first tasks as the newly enthroned king was to engage in a heavenly war against satan and his demons.. 4) having won the war against satan and his demons, jesus expelled satan and his demons from the heavenly realm giving them only terrestial access.. 5) since satan is a sore loser, he became extremely bitter and decided to wreak havoc upon all the earth.. 6) filled with anger, satan then provoked the nations of the earth into a 4 year bloody battle known today as world war i. so there you have it... wwi started sometime in october of 1914 (not july 1914 as history books would have you believe).

i think that this thought is really interesting.

my quick research ( and i'll dig a bit better when i have more time ) shows that wt articals after 1995 a bit vague when talking about ww1.

but here are some interesting quotes;

"What of this new creation in modern times? In the year 1914, as the Bible timetable shows, the words of Revelation 11:15 were fulfilled: “The kingdom of the world did become the kingdom of our Lord [Jehovah] and of his Christ, and he will rule as king forever and ever.” The first act of Christ as newly installed King was to hurl Satan and his demonic angels out of heaven down to earth’s vicinity. while i know that becoming aware of the realities of things is an emotional time.
and in many way its much like the grieving process a person goes through when someone we loves dies ...
with the stages of disbelief, denial, anger, depression and finaly acceptance ...
i encourage you not to get stuck in this "cult" name calling, anger based mentality that some on this forum are in.
as you know, the majority of brothers and sisters are good people but just traped in a system of worship.
most are in their comfort zone and are happy to let others decied for them.
others are too scared to even concider a differnet view of things.
it will not be an eazy ride but in the end, it you dont allow it to make you bitter, you will become a stonger and more ballanced thinking person.

i was'nt meaning that we spend time a lone with a congregation member of the opposite sex, its just most of the time, people just stand back and wait for someone else to make the first move. thats all i was trying to say.

on this issue of helping a depressed person, we the healthy tend hang back when we should be jumping in to help. i know that it's hard for many reasons. we worrry about being sucked into their problems, we worry about what others would say if other brothers see us hugging a crying woman in the kingdom hall. we can worry about a lot of things. and somethings are risky thats for sure. i've been burned too in the past by trying to help out. and so we tend to stand back and just watch with a sorrowfull look. but what happens if you just do that ... and the next meeting you learned that person killed himself or herself. how will you feel then? pretty damn useless thats for sure. but if we are carefull and even go with someone else, a lot of good can be done. of course we have to be realistic about how much help we can really be ... but like giving first aid ... someone has to give it a go. over the years i've lost four of my friends in suicide and my wife was on the verve of it for a while too. yep, its a crapy world and when you suffer from depression you feel that you're in a pit so deep you just cant see any light. let's throw them a rope to hep them climb out.

having served as an elder for a while, i have to agree unfortunatly with the comments from "doubing bro" in regards to how a person practically qualifies to serve as an elder. and with my many years of service and with long time clinicaly diganosed major depressant wife, i have to say that very few elders really understand mental health issues. the most common comment from these ones is just to pray more and go out in the ministry. man, when i used to hear those things, it used to do my head in. pioneer elders were the worst. in my wife's situation, the person who encouraged her the most, was a sexually abused sister who had so many issues herself but who have the most caring heart you could imagine. sadly this sister was disfellowed for her drinking problem and latter suicided. i'm still not over that one. in the end, in my opinion, if you know someone is suffering from depression, just kiss them, hug them and tell them that no matter how bad they feel about themselves, that you love them ... and then offer to go with them to the doctor.
