..it is the policy of shunning etc which holds many younger independent thinking ones in.....they attend meetings and conventions because they have been conditioned to do so without protest...and as others have mentioned...many of them see the org as a social outlet..where they will meet and marry....after all..the world is evil and wholly in satans' power..isn't it..?...I count myself lucky that I had no family in it...and so when I left after 30 years I suffered minimally compared with those who lose families kith and kin....

org is dying
by lambsbottom ini don't understand why so many ex jws and faders think that the jws will continue to grow and thrive as a religion.
i still attend a meeting once a week and you can smell the death of the religion creeping up when you hear the talks, read the study wts and hear the letters from the gb.
the way the organization has changed is a sign that it reached its peak (in "healthy" membership) long ago.

The difference between 1975...1995..and now is the Internet. Whereas the organisation could fluff their way out of false dates and prophecy the Internet has a lot if counter information available from ex jws and secular sources which previously younger jws had no access to. The organisation relies on born ins to stay in or face shunning. ..bred in captivity....

Would God (Jehovah) really choose lying and corrupt religious Charlatans like the Watchtower Corporation ?
by Finkelstein inthe watchtower publishing house has been going strong now for over 100 years, publishing numerous.
books and magazines, many which are now out of circulation.
many of the doctrines created by this.

the bloodshed of the old testament/hebrew scriptures using many' appointed' murderers to murder whole families and children... might well indicate that such a god would be more than willing to use liars/word twisters to further his cause......the whole jw thing is a sham...divisive...prejudiced...self serving..and hypocritical...using 8 men (iteslf an attempt to be a Noah class..of 8 survivivors.) to formulate/chop /change its creed to escape being exposed as a false prophet.......

watchtowers army assault on our vulnerable elderly in nursing homes
by friendaroonie inits been a long time since i have been this enraged at the evilness and shameless exploitation by the jws.
i just got back from the meeting (dont ask) and sat through the km article laying out plans to mass convert nursing homes all over the world.
i am not going to labor the obvious ethical travesty of this plan but i will say that it constitutes a major public health risk.

.....most elderly residents won't have internet access. so a soft target...and usually like a yap....good for counting time too...

have a look at this from a 1973 watchtower:" only this organization functions for Jehovahs purpose and to his praise. To it alone God's sacred Word, the Bible, is not a sealed book"..... (July Ist page 402. 1973)
to it alone...says it all.

Books that changed your life-
by new hope and happiness ini am not much of a reader as i have two many distractions, but i fancy a challenging read, so please list any book that has changed your entire world view on everything.
i remember as a teenager buying at a yard sale, norman vincent peales " the power of positive thinking" and at the time that had a big impact on me.
but i am a little bit more in to " realistic positive thinking" now..

The book the day of jehovah witnesses by Rachel Walsh explains how they exert control by exclusivity of information...They alone decide what is and is not truth...quite scary .

Just had local ministerial servant made an elder.....He told many that he always should have been made an elder for several years before....now he is one....I wonder if the fact that he is very wealthy due to receiving over a million pounds after a road crash some years ago has anything to do with it....useful source of money...

OMG the Watchtower IS toast!
by kneehighmiah inthe waters are drying up!
a congregation of 110+ publishers will be contributing only $200 a month to the society in the new kingdom hall construction arrangement.
that's less than $2 a publisher!

Few outsiders come in....my old congregation was almost composed of families in laws and cousins....This almost always resulted in young ones being baptised as soon as possible...usually before they realised what they were involved in...They were then ramrailed into conforming or face losing friends and family if they dared seek life beyond hall doors....very sad.

What has the WTS EVER "predicted" that has actually come true?
by integ inyou'd think they could point to something right?
obviously we're the one true religion".. i can't fathom how anyone of any intelligence would be willing to join up with this org after doing even rudimentary research.. for years they have taught that it's wrong to seek advanced education or to plan for a "worldly" future by trusting in this system of things and then this past sunday the watchtower article rips on people for not planning for the future in regard to their elderly relatives.
maybe if they hadn't been teaching for 100 yr's that the end was "just around the corner" and telling us we'd better believe that fact...or else, we would have planned better for a future that you said without reservation would not even occur.. what mind blowing prediction can they point to that would convince someone "oh yeah..these guys have it right"...?.
