A Total Waste of Time "In The Field"
by OnTheWayOut inso i am walking down the street in a spanish neighborhood and two men, obviously jw's, are standing between houses writing furiously on their tiny slips.
i am nearly a block away approaching and they just kept writing the whole time i walked up.
i finally arrive to pass them and they are still both writing.

...ah yes..the 'look at me I'm being busy in service' brothers.....the ones who spend less than 5 minutes talking with public yet spend an hour filling in notes etc...notes full of trivial..but important..details of who was in...any children..(creepy)...dog or cat...clues as to householders etc etc.....and then a few weeks later the same brothers/sisters will be featured in a ' how did we do in May..' item.....with commendation following.. all pathetic. -

What on earth have the JW org got to offer?
by Half banana inwhat on earth have jw org got to offer?.
one hundred and thirty six years this july of the worlds most published and least read magazine: the inglorious watchtower.
nothing in it which is original has been of any use to mankind.

..there is something the wt could yet do which they perhaps have overlooked until now....build a huge jw life in the paradise theme park.....along the lines of disney etc ...! -

How Some Climb Up So Quickly?!!
by Sofia Lose inour current co has not been in the org all that long, less than 10 years, and already quite a respected overseer.
i know of a few married couples in the spanish congs that are doing everything right, you know, with the theocratic schooling, the pioneering, etc., and... nothing!.
how do some seem to reach certain posts so damn quick, while others cannot make it?!

...I too cleaned loos, gave many many lifts to meetings and conventions etc, served on lit counter, active on school and stood in at last minute if needed, handled platform responsibilities, read wt and study book at meetings, spent many weekends maintaining and cleaning hall and gardens, responded to random phone calls for help ,did microphone duty, halll security, pioneered, out in ministry every weekend and midweek, served on memorial duties, etc etc, all done because I genuinely cared for the brothers and sisters, yet in 30 years I was never appointed.....and yes, I was not a born in, but a walk in and a stay in ,,until I left....others though who were sons of elders etc or chummy with the Po were appointed, even one who openly told others that he 'deserved to be an elder' !...humility lacking. -

in my 30 years plus experience it is the ones with family who get pushed/promoted...that way they in turn act as mentors/keepers/bait for the rest of the family..also if you have a family in it then you and they have links to many others so your worth as a spiritual bully is utilised by promotion .....if you're a single person with no relatives you'll often be left to tread water as any investment in you pays little dividends.. -

Doing away with Calculating How Close we are to THE END
by FusionTheism inthe watchtower study edition, august 2015, "keep in expectation!
" article:.
paragraph 3: "after looking forward to the end of this system for what may seem to be a long time, however, some may wonder, do we still have sound reasons to keep in expectation?

...perhaps the watchtower have been telling the truth..and it is jesus who has been lying....! seriously though..everytime I read their articles about the end time etc etc I'm also reminded of that scripture:' expectation postponed makes the heart sick..'
They are playing a cruel game on vulnerable and sometimes genuine people within the org. They're justifying their apocalyptic literature by making fresh timelines..to suit themselves.Emotionally abusive...and a trap to keep the rabbit firmly in the headlights...

The visit with elder and wife outcome
by umbertoecho inwhere to start in regard to my visit with the elder and his wife; a wife who sat mute throughout the discussion.
they arrived on the dot and we engaged in talk about the weather.
this could have gone on for some time but i brought it around to the reason for this particular visit.

..degrees of perfection..love it. degrees of truth.next....degrees of death to follow...there are times when I think theology and nailing custard to a wall have much in common. -

May tv broadcast
by New day insomebody on another thread suggested that those still in could express their opinions on steven lett's performance.
i am still in and i was shocked, dismayed and saddened by it.
i became a witness over 30 yrs ago and the issue of donations was a non-issue for so many years.. now, it is a huge one for the org.

they have to focus on donations..because they have no clue what to discuss or expound spiritually, in effect, they're in the doctrinal doldrums. Nothing to say about nothing. What is the message nowadays?...last days?. armageddon?..etc etc.. -

Why are so many Elders and Elders deleted so angry at the Flock?
by JWCartPusher inhas anyone else experienced the wrath of elders and ex-elders on innocent rank-and-file dubs?
what are these power hungry men and their wives so mad about?
where is the love we were promised when those witnesses spent hours indoctrinating us about the spiritual paradise of witnesses we would be joining?

In my village of around 6000 there is only and elder and his wife and two children who are active jws. He is a recently appointed elder and thoroughly obnoxious..when there were around 15 active jws in our village we had the tuesday book study at his home...but had to constantly relocate as his wife constantly complained of people walking on her oh so plush carpets.. and finger marks on door handles etc etc
As I said we used to have 15 or so jws in the village but thanks to this elder and his wife's attitudes and selfishness, most have drifted out.
He does nothing to help others either in the faith or out. I'm embarrassed to have known them. When his very kind father, an elder himself at one time, and a decent compassionate man too, passed away a year or two go he neglected his mother to the point that she has recently moved over 200 miles away to stay with an elderly frind in another cong. I still believe that if this son had been more of a son to his father his father would still be here. Instead the son focussed entirely on appearing to be spiritual and appearing to care for the older ones etc etc.
Yes there are some genuinely caring elders ( who would still be equally caring if out of the jw fold) but there are also some two faced nepotistic hypocrites who, if it really was an approved by god organization, would be thrown out..

A brazen falsehood in this week's Watchtower study! (week of Feb 9 - 15, 2015)
by Island Man inon page 13 of the december 15, 2014 watchtower (study edition), the first 2 sentences of paragraph 10 say:.
"the symbolic separating of fish does not refer to the final judgment during the great tribulation.
rather, it highlights what would happen during the last days of this wicked system.".

Is the preaching work, no longer the number 1 priority?
by ToesUp ini have been observing a pattern in recent wtbs publications and events.
is the importance of the preaching activity no longer the number 1 priority?
are not billions of lives still at stake?.

again ,from my own experience, with each meeting I attended in my early years in, I was surprised to discover how expansion/attendance came from horizontal connections rather than new ones from outside, as someone has said earlier, families bring in extended family members and aunts/uncle etc etc.
Rarely did I ever see freshers come in from the world, it was usually through family connections, even if such connections were only tenuous or temporary in attendance.(curiosity no doubt). Thankfully none of my family did come in, something which made my exit almost painless....although I did miss some genuinely nice people.
