Why are women and others marching to gain rights? Surely, if Obama had done a good job all such rights would exist anyway. If not, then he is to blame for what he didn't do, not Trump for what he hasn't yet done. Time will tell.

So, the Womens March ... What Is It For?
by Simon init seems like mobilizing after the election, which seems pointless.
i keep hearing demands for equal rights but don't understand what rights they are missing exactly.. normally a march is to show the support (and potential votes) for a cause, but ... votes for what?
... and the election happened already.. is anyone else confused?

There is a NEW Songbook?!
by My Name is of No Consequence ini am not talking about the one that the org came out with in 2010. i am talking about a new one that just came out.
it is completely different or is it just the 135 songs from the 2010 songbook plus the 16 that they have rolled out since then?
my head is spinning!.

Never underestimate the power to control thoughts/emotions etc that such songs have. Everyone singing the same song, same words, all being gently conditioned to accept ....What might appear banal and dull is actually a vital part of programming..almost sublimal.

Marking Talks are back!?!?! - New Name!
by thedepressedsoul inwhen i was younger i used to hear about "marking talks" given in the past.
i believe they stopped in the 80's or 90's.
basically, if someone wasn't baptized or doing something unrepentant, they would get a "marking talk" and be treated the same as a df person.

In my own experience, when I was before a judicial committee hearing, I was told that a 'marking talk' had been given some months earlier , and that I should have heeded it. When I said how would I recognize that such a talk was aimed at me if I had done nothing/was doing nothing wrong, they couldn't reply..Crazy system. Ticking boxes but a corporate failure..

..would be nice if 'Jehovah angels' did a little more to look after the vulnerable children in their care.....or perhaps they get a kick out of watching children being abused..since they see everything. The arrogance of 'A Be Leaver' amazes me.....def something false about him/her.....

Quality of newer membership
by Lostandfound inon a previous post mamacita29 pointed up the low quality of new jw converts.. is the quality falling even more as the society use lower than low meeting, talks, broadcasts etc.. when i was active initially the organisation and standards seemed totally different today.
i have seen hard working intelligent elders fall by death or exhaustion.
the younger generation that came along never really grasped responsibility hence shortage of good elders, never mind the watered down to almost nothing quality of meetings.

30 plus years ago when I 'joined up', the material being studied was really quite meaty and required reasonable intelligence. My first study with an elder was the Freedom as Sons of God book....! Subsequent books/subjects such as Babylon the Great book, and Types and Anti-Types, Shadows etc etc..really deep stuff, but somehow more satisfying than the watered down, keep ears tickled, propaganda passed off as the word of God these days......In hindsight though, what added to the depth and feeling for meetings was the presence ,in our congregation at least , of an elderly lady and man of the Annointed class...Every meeting was flavoured by their 'deep spiritual' comments...

Gossip and tittle tattle were rife in my old congregation. Much of it dispensed and incited by wives of elders of all ages, as well as idle single sisters with too much time on their hands. Many the time when I listened to a widow or infirm elderly one who opened their heart to me in pain at the unjust and often malicious gossip they'd heard. One widow in particular would openly cry and when I encouraged her to go to the elders she'd say that it was just too hard to do, since it was their wives who were the gossipers...So cruel...

"You Wouldn't Believe How Many Have Crawled Back To The Meetings"
by minimus inthat's a comment i heard from an elder i haven't seen in over a decade, yesterday.
i mentioned it all on my other thread.
i responded that i knew of no one that was crawling back to the meetings and gave him an incredulous hearty chuckle.

Such loving words from a man who has genuine love for mankind. Gee, I can see why he's an elder. Worth his weight in gold. Such compassion....so touching. Minimus may well be exaggerating, I don't know, but I have heard similar words from someone who was an MS but who is now an elder...
