Whole Study Article on Commenting at Meetings
by JW_Rogue ini guess less people are commenting now.
last week's whole wt study was dedicating to the issue of commenting.
people were literally making comments about how to comment, it was very meta (not that most there would get that), anyway the main reason that wt gave to explain away people's lack of commenting?

I remember one occasion when a newly inducted person, after a paragraph had been answered, raised her hand and asked the conductor for clarification, as she didn't understand the answer given. She was ignored yet persisted. After two attempts to seek an answer she was told to ask her then group leader. Her embarrassment was plain to see as she felt humiliated and later told me that she never realised how one sided such studies are.

Ending Bible Study
by Maria Nieves ini have been studying with jehovah's witnesses for approximately two years.
initially, i liked the studies and felt that i was growing closer to god.
however, as the studies progressed, they seemed to become increasingly negative and i did not like what i was being taught.

You mention that your study person has devoted time and years. No doubt you have a bond with them too. Sadly, it is that bond which hampers the ability to say No.
Perhaps you need to write a short honest letter to them and ask that they do not call round again. If that fails then a stronger letter may be needed to either them or the local elders at the hall. I suspect though, that if they ignore your first letter, you will probably feel a' little cross' and that, itself, will strengthen your resolve to tell them No..... But keep it polite, but firm..
As regards disfellowshipping etc, you are not at risk of such treatment...
Wish you well.

Society Ditches Older Publications
by new boy init has been reported that many of the older publications are being dumped.
the watchtower bible and truck society have a long list of books, pamphlets and brochures that are no longer available either in print or in their data base on their web sight.
of course the reason is that this books have a lot of old information that is incorrect, false prophecies, flip flops and a lot of "new light" that became old light.

I've been reading Our Incoming World Govt- God's Kingdom..(1977). Quite an eye opener as to what was taught/thought back then.....

Do Jehovah’s Witnesses Ever Do Anything For Anyone But Themselves?
by minimus ini was thinking of how witnesses were always admonished to take care of their own before they should ever help a worldly neighbor.
i don’t think they ever do anything for the community unless it’s a benefit to them..

Most do only what will be seen by others. They seek praise for doing what most of us consider basic kindness. Their hearts are dead. Their allegiance isn't.

"This system will probably be over in about 5 years"
by john.prestor ini don't think i shared this story yet, it's strange and although i did a little detective work trying to figure out who said what and when i never found out much, big surprise, jehovah's witnesses love their secrets as we all know... but i thought other posters might find this interesting both in and of itself, because of what an elder told me one sunday back in 2011, and because of what it could imply as to high-ranking jehovah's witnesses prophesying the date of armageddon.
specific dates went out the window in 1975, although governing body helper ken flodin hinted at 2040 in a talk uploaded to jw.org a couple years back, and the governing body hinted at 2034 in a watchtower back in the 90s.
but it might be, just might, that more specific date-setting still goes on behind closed doors in certain circuits.... so after i went to "meetings" and talked to witnesses for a couple years at a rural congregation in the eastern united states an elder pulled me aside one service into the vestibule at the hall, in other words, into a private area where no one would overhear us.

by RULES & REGULATIONS inthis brother starts off with reading the following scriptures from the book of mark 13:1-8.

Reflecting On Death
by Charles Gillette inreflecting on death.
i can't remember, maybe steve jobs before he died.i thought i would share it with you and see what you think about it, and i'm quoting i think from his book.. "i'm about fifty-fifty on believing in god.
for most of my life, i've felt that there must be more to our own existence than meets the eye.. i might be overestimating the odds 50/50 out of a desire to believe in an afterlife.

I knew nothing of life before my birth, and I shall probably know nothing after I'm dead. As a father, I'm also saddened that I brought children into the world only for them to one day die...Bitter truth. How I wish that there was more to life than that.
Kenneth Williams once said that if life is a joke, let's make it a good one.
Hopefully I shall leave the world in a better state than I found it, but perhaps not..! I dread death. I face my own mortality with trepidation and fear. But, it does seem inevitable. I did find the meetings and the hope of a better life etc a comfort at one time, but , sadly, little evidence to back it up.

Excellent book. Raymond throughout bears no malice or hatred towards anyone. He relates candidly various events and phase he passed through. I found it fascinating, not always easy to understand at first bite, but having carefully read it twice, it makes sense. ISOC is heavy going but equally revealing and refreshingly written.
