WT tolerating alcoholism?

does the wt and jw big boys tolerate alcoholism among themselves?.

alcohol is very popular among jw heavy-weights and their wives.

Boy this is a smoldering topic. I was raised in the "truth."

I am an alcoholic. Been sober for 14 years now. Recently went to a JW wedding with my wife. A number of the elite of North Atlanta were there. Beautiful wedding. I thought it was great everyone was having such a great time. I could care less but everyone was drinking a LOT. I mentioned it to my wife...MISS JW FOR LIFE, and she retaliated well it's confined and some other line of bullshit. I just wanted to croak. One of her friends was newly married for the fourth time. She and her husband were there. He was a trip..a new guy to Atlanta, a Californian. I'm all for that. I miss that place something fierce. Back to the subject. We discussed alcohol etc. told them why I didn't drink...blah blah.. This guy says so you're 42 right? I said yep. He says July 1960? I said yep...(he was Feb or Mar 1960) anyway then he says. A 60's cancer? No wonder you're so fucked up!..then he started laughing his wife just about dropped her drink and I was cracking up. This guy clearly had a sense of humor and was NOT a stuff shirt JW. I told my wife later we needed to have them over.

At any rate, money and power in the ranks will get you anything. Just glad I sit back and watch it.

Should I go to the meetings?

i'm having a bit of a problem.. my mother recently decided to go back to the meetings.

it isn't enough that i've made a personal decision for myself to not go.

but i find her constantly trying to push me to go.

Long history for myself. Raised a witness. I'm 42 now. Been df'd once. Re-instated but inactive now for reasons to long to explain in this post.

Your question and my response.

Pull away slowly. Go some. Don't go some. Avoid any confrontations regarding your stance on their belief system. It's a pain in the ass, but they will adjust to your behavior. It just happens they don't expect you to go and just stop harassing you. I never thought I'd see the day my wife would just get ready and go. But she did. Or she'll ask if I'm going and I say NO and that's it no fight.

When you move out. Unless you want some serious mental ramifications to deal with think carefully before your DA. DA and DF are the same. You'll go through mental hell. It's just not worth it.

That's my two cents.

Judge Bans Shunning

today i spoke with a former jw i've been in touch with for several years and discovered what i think could be a major bombshell for the wts.

as we all know, shunning is the most powerful weapon the wt cult has over its members and for decades the wts has been able to get away with practicing it at their whim.

the us and other courts have permitted them to to use it, even though it destroys families and has ruined countless lives.

I can certainly relate to this situation. I was df'd for just over a year. I am the father of four now. At the time we only had 3 children. My wife and her family completely treated me like shit. I was not invited to any dinners. They went on the family vacation to Florida without me. Of course I was supposed to just accept this as normal. I "asked" for it. My kids started really getting bad off. I had enough. I got reinstated. Now I'm "inactive." I go to an occasional meeting to pacify the wife.

This organization is scary though. It can truly ruin a person's life. I can't live "MY" life. I have to be "in" this to have my children. My wife and I have been on shaky ground for some time. We almost divorced a few months ago. I can't go there, b/c if I do, she will certainly get the children and I can just kiss them all goodbye.

It's hell!..They have a LOT to pay for.

I enjoyed your post. I was raised in the "truth." I'll be 42 this year. I was df'd in 2000 and reinstated last year. The only reason was because my wife was giving me hell and was threatening to leave and take the kids. I couldn't let that happen. She gives me hell about not taking the lead now...but I just keep floating through the motions. I wish to god she would open her eyes. I almost got her with the U.N.thing...but she eventually just forgot about it..so I'm going to make sure she watches the DATELINE show.
At any rate, I just wanted to congratulations on going back to school and I enjoyed your post.

I REMEMBER THE '69 INT'L CONVENTION IN ATLANTA. HOT!!! WAS THE PROBLEM. IT WAS 7 DAYS LONG. SESSIONS WERE MORNING AFTERNOON AND NIGHT. WE STAYED WITH SOME NON-JW FAMILY IN THE ATLANTA AREA AND FINALLY STAYED IN A HOTEL THE LAST DAY. WE SLEPT ON FLOORS THE MAJORITY OF THE TIME.

THEN I REMEMBER THE ONE IN HALLENDALE FLA AS WELL. I THINK I WAS 13 AT THE TIME 1973?? LONG...LONG ...LONG. MY DAD AND I PLAYED IN THE ORCHESTRA SO WE GOT TO SIT IN THE A/C ROOM THE ENTIRE TIME AND "WATCH" THE PROGRAM ON A SATELLITE FEED. WE WATCHED EVERYONE ELSE SUFFER.

MY MOM SUFFERED A REALLY BAD SUNBURN FROM THE ONE IN ATLANTA. SHE HAD A THIRD DEGREE BURN ON HER NECK. THE SCAR WAS THERE TILL SHE DIED JUST OVER THREE YEARS AGO.

I AGREE WITH YOU GUYS. THE SUBJECTS HAVE CHANGED DIRECTION AND THEY ARE JUST GRABBING AT ANYTHING TO KEEP EM COMING BACK FOR MORE.

ARGH!!!!!!
