I Think That I Chose My Parents.
by Englishman indo you believe in reincarnation?.
i dont think i believe in it in the same way that most believers do, which is that we keep coming back in different fleshly bodies until we have achieved perfection.. i do, however, strongly suspect that we may well be spirit creatures who find it necessary to inhabit a fleshly body from time to time, and that this entails us having to leave behind most of our past memories.. i say most memories, because many people seem to have some vestigal recollections that don`t seem to fit in with earthly experiences.. i`m pretty sure that i chose my parents!
i have a recollection of being shown a young and kind couple through some form of astral telescope and choosing to become their son.

Hey Tally!!
Speaking of old friends......I'm wondering whatever happened to Bob Russell....he left Bethel in the mid/late 80's(I think) came to our cong,,,,,,,and I watched him get more disheartened and disgusted with the 'trooth' ..was removed (or gave up) Ms status, married a spanish sister, started to miss mtgs,,,,,when he would come, the look on his face said it all......until he was no longer there.......the story going around the cong that he 'just spiritually tired out'.......watching him was an impetus that got me thinkin,,,,he did me one of the largest favors in my life,I always wanted to knowif he was ok and of course,to thank him.......he was a brilliant man, tall, blonde, educated, played guitar, wore thick glasses.......sorry to ramble but your post brought back memories.
And I'm sorry to say in your case Tal,that wt cult control even destroys the cultural Italian definition of loyalty,I've seen it firsthand.....cheers,and hugs, tina -

Bad Defensive Arguments
by AlanF ina bozo calling itself "shiningone" recently posted on the h2o board some typically bad arguments supposedly defending the bible.
i posted a rebuttal to a number of specific points, which is reproduced below.
guess what the response was.. those familiar with jw teaching will recognize some of the bad defensive arguments.. <hr>.

Did Christ exist?
by uncle_onion injesus christ is the main feature of christianity.

Hi Shauna
I found your'scientists dont discount the miracles' statement rather intriguing. As I think it quite differently. These 'miracles' are merely, myth and legend used to perpetuate the divinity of jesus. I have never seen any proof otherwise...do you have some references?
Thanks in advance,Tina -

Feeling desperate................
by nicolaou inplease listen.
im not the first to go through this, i wont be the last.. i was raised in the truth as a result of my mum starting a study when i was 4 years old.
that was in 1968. the hysteria of a 1975/armageddon was just beginning to take root and the sister who studied with my mum was 100% sure of it.

Dear nic,
My heart goes out to you,you are not alone as many of us have 'been there'.......different strategies work for different people. While some may say ease out,I take the unpopular stance and suggest to not continue to torure your conscience, compromise you personal integrity, live a lie, and honestly set about leaving. The sooner you do ,the sooner you can go about restructuring your life and go about the business of living and enjoying life to the fullest. I think our own fears can keep us from doing what needs to be done. Re-socializing isn't such a monumental task,as you will find many many kind, intelligent and compassionate people out there...it starts out with a simple 'Hello'.....Educate yourself on the dynamics of mind-control techniques. Once aware of the strategies used on you and your loved ones,it becomes less difficult to combat them....... re-create family structure and rituals,,,time that once was used for empty wts rituals can now be used to truly get to know one another ans share in worthwhile pursuits....... make an effort to learn about and rejoin your community...there are many good activities going on,many volunteer and charitable ones that do make a difference in the world around you......and most of all,,,education, education education. You and the kids can find activities to learn and grow together whilst having fun doing so!!...... all the above are part of the the pro-active stance that I found personally freeing....... there really is nothing heroic about living and perpetuating a lie,the personal, emotional, psychological and physical costs are just too great.......just MHO,wishing you the best and freedom,Tina -
