Why are there more sisters than brothers?
by expatbrit init is generally acknowledged, and confirmed by experience, that there is a significant gender imbalance in the organisation.. there are considerably more sisters than there are brothers.
that's great for the brothers, because a lot of the poor jw lasses get so desperate that even the most dorky of brothers can take his pick.. but why is there this imbalance?.
it's true that birth rates show slightly more females being born than males (mother nature's way of safeguarding the future?

Wendy,
Don't you have a choice NOT to read it then? Some of us enjoy the discussion of that issue........this isn't the first time I've seen where you tell posters to stop posting because you don't like it. That's rude,as was your reply to me,when I mentioned reading material.
I expect you and others will jump on me now for stating what has been obvious,,, I've felt(with the exception of waiting,7,and a few others) that we weren't gonna be too welcomed here.I remember reading the posts about h20'ers you and others wrote before that old board went down,,,,,,,i sense a continuity of that attitude from your posts at times.......there are posts that hold little interest for me, I simply don't read them, can't you do the same? -

Now Foot and Mouth Hits My Families Farm.
by Englishman ini thought that maybe i would keep everyone up to date re the foot and mouth epidemic that is sweeping the uk.. my wifes brother bob has a farm in dumfries, which is just across the scotland border.
yesterday tony blair visited the area and commended the farmers for their courage in keeping going in the face of almost insurmountable odds.. this morning bob received a letter from the ministry of agriculture.
his animals are within 5 miles of an outbreak of f & m, and as such they are to be slaughtered in an effort at containment.

Hi expat(and all) :>
Gosh,I could make that a thesis topic lol.....I think more women join due to socio-cultural history and politics.....it's not been all that long where women have been viewed(and still not in too many cases) equally as men.
If one looks back on females roles in society(ies) and their relegation to lower status, and the promulgation of male supremacy throughout the centuries,I believe it has fostered a sense of little power and control with in them.......I don't think many are consciously aware of this either.
Judeochristian thinking thru the ages (and others as well) also presented women as morally and spiritually inferior,as well as physically and intellectually.
Women have been viewed this way for centuries and it's gonna take a lot of time for these views to change still.
I think with this in mind, women who feel little or no sense of personal power /control gravitate to patriarchal type orgs......for this has been the accepted standard for so long.....it's a mind subset that males have total control(doesn't the composition of the GB promote this?) and the social indoctrination of the all powerful father figure.....I think these women don't even see this as giving up control, as they never felt they had it anyway,or have been taught/socialized that they can have it.
For many women second class staus is comfortable,,,,,since they follow rather than take the risks inherent in real honest sharing of repsonsibility......(I am not speaking of all women here,I know many strong ones, but not in the org)........hmmm.I'm rambling,I'll try to organize these thoughts better later expat, great topic, thanks for letting me spout lol,T -

RE: Ozzie's post on "Restrictions"
by had_enough ini have a question about restrictions on df'd persons wanting to come back to the org.. i finally joined here on mar 26, after reading posts for about a month, with telling my story first.
what moved me to join in was reading ozzie's post on mar.23(i think), about "restrictions" regarding reproofs, probations, and df'ing.
i appreciated his comments and was so glad when he brought the subject up.

G'day ozzie,
Thanks for the reply!!
I do understand that some who leave may be'not sure' of things,,,and that's OK,because it hopefully leads to an objective search for answers.....I dont consider this 'shellshocked' but merely a period of transition........from my personal experiences and that of others I know who left,,,,there is little existential angst......getting jolted out of preconceived notions and ones comfort zone are actually postive...postive growth and change only occur when one is jolted out of that 'zone'........rational inquiry, based on logical and reasonable thinking only happen then........thanks for your thoughts! regards,Tina No Existential Angst Class :> -
