JanG, come clean!!!!
by Roamingfeline inthe following quote is one taken from h20 after you claimed on this forum that you weren't posting your "compassion" post in order to incite guilt feelings within this forum:.
i agree that if they feel that something is wrong with rick then they are certainly shooting the wounded - but that is typical cult behaviour - they learnt this as jw's .... they just haven't learnt the compassion they so much desired to see within the organization themselves yet.
in the original post you put "shooting the wounded" in bold letters, effectively showing that you posted that diatribe in order to make people who were denouncing rick and his methods of moderating his forum.

excuse me Jan,that was my only post in this thread-hardly the 'feeding frenzy' as you call it.
As usual you're over-reacting when something hits too close to home.
Interesting how you post these endless articles, apply them to everyone but yourself.
When I make posts,it's clear to me I may(and have) received responses I don't like either. That goes with the territory.
And if you don't like your net machinations brought up-might be time to re-evalute and change your m.o.
Now if you want to argue or continue to justify what you do,I will. If not we'll leave it at this. -

Greetings All,
And there is a problem with 'self-report' checklists.
Some folks in denial of their problems will check responses to show they dont manifest certain traits as a rationalization.
That's why I think therapy groups are so important. They will challenge one's self-concept(dysfunctional)and oftentimes help break thru denial by promoting rigorous honest self-examination.
Just my dos centavos.Tina -

Hi Kent!!
Yes,it is disgusting that fundies push their beliefs and practices on others.
(I didnt vote for Bush btw lol)
The case that struck that prayer in school down was initiated by anonymous catholics and mormons who besides nontheists found this quite offensive.
Justice John Paul Stevens in the majority opinion wrote that this was impermissible. And that "it sent a message that outsiders(to fundyism) were not full members of the political community and that the 'adherents'(insiders) were favored". So no prayer. The only thing prayer in school would accomplish is hatred directed at those students of different denominations or no religion period.
It is horrifying to see the religious rights power and lobbying going on. It's truly a step back for americans,if they would look critically at the issue. Just some thoughts.hugs,Tina -

Position on College Changed?
by Maximus inseveral have made outright statements and others have suggested that the society's negative position on higher education has changed.
'the society does not discourage higher education where i live.
' worse, 'apostates have made it all up--the society has never discouraged education.

Greetings maximus and All!
Thank you for the fascinating topic.
Higher ed. was a major no-no for me as well.
I did return to school later (WTG AUNTIE))))))))
MoeJo,when I left in the mid 90's it was STILL being discouraged from the platform. There were only a couple college grads in my cong(not raised in the 'truth') and they lasted about 2 yrs and left.
Until the day I left,I heard reaching for 'greater responsibility(brothers only of course) Bethel, pioneer pioneer pioneer.
There is still not ONE individual attending college in that cong last I heard.
It's shameful. The wasted talents and abilities of so many.
It's a bit of a struggle to go back to school, but I encourage anyone so inclined to go for it!
There is nothing like ,,regards to all.Tina -

Greetings All,
My discussion group recently debated this topic.
I am interested in everyone's thoughts on these questions:
WHy is there evil?
What motivates those who perpetrate it?
How do they reconcile their actions with a self-image that does not embrace evil?
Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.regards,Tina
