  if we take a critical view on the last weeks events on this board, there is maybe a thing or two to consider.

  the board has seen a kind of war, and sarcasms and caustic remarks have been more the rule than the exception in some threads.

  usually these ends up adding something positive to the community or the forum where the war raged, and its much like a thunderstorm.

  Hi larc,
  I agree totally. I didn't mean it to sound that if anyone needed help,that I would turn my back. Never have done that,I was just speaking in a broader sense of 'responsiblity.
  And we do give it freely when asked.I have been helped and want to give back what I received......I re-read my post-it did come off a bit cold. Those who know me now that couldnt be farther from the truth.That's one of the rewards I get from here. Sometimes the best help is just a listening ear when they need it. hugs,Tina

  In the real world one learns that we are not obligated to meet their needs,they are repsonsible for that.No one else. We don't need to meet anyones standards or expectations other than our own.
  The first and foremost thing anyone lurking needs to learn is that it's all about personal responsibility. We are not here to fulfill their wishes dreams and desires of what 'should be'.
  If they choose to stay they are responsible for the consequences of that decision. Just as they are responsible to face reality if they don't.
  We are here to grow and be responsible and hopefully contribute something back on our journey.
  Once they uinderstand the language of their own feelings and emotions,then they will have achieved self-mastery,independence and freedom.
  We are each responsible for the life and decisions we choose. No one else. If it's too much for them,well.......get pro help. That is also a committment to mastery and freedom. It's all about choices.

  What drives exJWs to atheism?

  a significant number of former jehovah's witnesses come out of the watchtower still believing the bible and considering themselves christians.

  most coming out are in a serious state of bewilderment, and they look intently and sincerely for something to fill the huge void of lost religion, lost family and friends, and lost fellowship.

  they seek some viable spiritual association with others of like mind while at the same time having become very wary of any organized religion.. what is it that eventually draws so many of us (not me) to agnosticism or atheism?

  Just wanted to mention that being here doesn't mean all are searching for a god. There are many here who have concluded otherwise.There are diverse people with diverse reasons for being here.
  Our common background as JW's. Philisophical issues. Socialization. Helping those exiting thru pain and hurt(one doesn't have to believe in dieties to do this btw) etc etc etc.Anyway,happy to have you aboard! regards,Tina

  Awake exploits family tragedy ....

  by now most here have read the terrible story of a pregnant witness, theresa giarrano, who was murdered for her unborn child.

  the story appeared in vogue magazine shortly after the events took place; it is only now, 10 months later, that the awake (july 22, 2001 issue) has published anything about this tragedy.

  though the story is "as told by" theresa's father, james giarrano, it is such a twisted piece of exploitation that i can only believe a ghost writer or collaborator is behind it.

  Jw funerals are nothing but infomercials for the cult. The grieving process is totally absent and when there,distorted. It's unhealthy.
  I remember an awake not too long ago,that told of 3 women's experiences. These women collapsed- had to see medical doctors to get 'permission' to grieve. That article(unwittingly) was a scathing condemnation on their approach regarding this issue.
