Good question wendy. And it's because women have to continually fight to preserve this right due to the christian right troglodytes lobbying to keep control over women. What better way than controlling our reproduction?
They use highly charged emotionally manipulative concepts to do this, mostly untrue or highly exagerated. Thats why women can't get to other issues. We have to return to this again in order to fight to keep this right. It's the old christian notion that they know whats best for us. They have this idotic thinking 'our way or the highway'.
They continue to fight any rational reasonable concepts under the guise of the genocidal judgemental god. Who by the way killed off more children, babies, and unborn babies in the bible than anyone can probably ever count. luv yas Tina -

Excellent! What victimizes a woman is NOT having the right to choose her reproductive destiny. If we've learned anything from the past we've learned woman are going to choose this option legal or not.
Yeru,I disagree with your stance in it's entirety.
There was a time before the 60's that you could find OB wards full of women septic from botched abortions.
(The smell is horrendous btw)
A lot of women lost their lives that way.
What victimizes a woman is forcing her to choose a coat hanger-laundry bluing, lysol douches and sometime death.A woman who is determined to not reproduce will find a way,no matter how wacky or dangerous to terminate it. I remember when Hispanic bodegas used to sell 'Humphrey 11's. A quack abortificant. You dont believe in abortion. Fine. Just butt out of what isnt your decision to begin with.
Abortions go way back to the beginning of history, women have done it secretly and illegaly for thousands of years.
I agree the christian right needs to butt out regarding open sex education, this can go a long way in protecting sexually active young ones from having to resort to this.
And again I'll state it's NOT our personal view that is important, but the fact that any woman should have the freedom to choose. It's not our place to judge or moralize. Don't we have enough of our own work to do than to become a busybody in another persons conscience? Tina -

Yeru,
Thanks,I feel the same about you too :>
I'll stand by my post. It's not a moral issue when you look at Roe vs Wade. I'll repeat it's focus is the woman's right to privacy. Those who want to take it beyond that are the moralists. And that just doesnt belong there. What I may view moral, you may not-that's why Roe vs Wade is written in the language it is. Nobodys morality is more important than the womans right to free choice and the privacy to make that choice. As we've seen in the capital punishment thread this applies here as well. Different defintions of moral, murder etc. Yours is no more right than mine, for instance. Cheers,T -

Hi Jan,
lol, yeah you're right. Activism vs Fanatacism...activists dont have the detructive boogeyman on their side . It's an appeal to reason, rational thinking, and the fact that whatever anybody feels about abortion,it's not their place to impose their conscience on a woman.
Whatever my feelings are about abortion do not supercede that a woman has the right to choose. It's between her,her conscience and the health care provider. That's what Roe vs Wade is about-the womans RIGHT to PRIVACY regarding her decision. And I dont feel 'why' she has it is anybodys business either. Again that's imposing ones conscience and its limitatins on others, thus taking her freedom to choose away. hugs,Tina
