The multitude that no man can number
by SonoftheTrinity inhow can protection from destruction at armageddon be solely with the jehovah's witnesses when the great multitude is one that no man could number while the jehovah's witnesses put great effort into cooking statistics of how many jws there are worldwide?
the unscriptural scare tactics they use are blatantly insulting to anyone who can read a bible.

What if we could bring down the WBTS?

...where they would go if it all came crashing down.
Well I'd immediately try to fill the void. I'd change my name to L. Ron Russell and start Jehovah's Scientists (Watchtower Scientology). I would let the faithful go door to door to rid people of body Thetans. I'd get a big boat and torture my pioneer slave crew who signed the Trillion year contract. All the while counting my billions... life would be sweet.

I wonder if Jehoober would destroy all those people who donated blood? After all, the blood fractions (like factor 8 for hemopheliacs) are used to treat Jehovah's Witnesses every day.

...just study all the times it has changed its policies, beliefs, etc., and it continues to grow in numbers and furthermore wealth.
I suspect the Watchtower is experiencing the same growth pains and problems as the early Catholic church.
'Would Jesus not have returned within our lifetime and brought about his kingdom?'. The Catholic answer to this dilemma was to put the kingdom within the human heart. So there, no more worrying about dates and such. This is the same way that the JW dogma has slowly moved away from date setting.
Now if the tower can survive for long enough (1700 years) they might even start a JW bank. (Just like the Catholics)

i dont think it can continue in its present form or strength. us older generation are fast dying off--and the young ones are far too internet savvy so to swallow much cult crap as they grow up.
That's a nice sentiment but third world countries will continue to show strong growth in the foreseeable future. Then there's the fact that the org is seemingly planning for a decline anyway by funneling contributions into investments. That would offset any long term decline in numbers and therefore by extension income.
As an example also think about the Russell Bible students. 99 years after Russell's death and its still going (Although very small and informal). I'm afraid we'll all be long dead and buried when the time comes for the Borg to finally evaporate with one last whimper. -

The ONLY possible thing that I can think of is if the Hedge Fund debacle causes governments to reclassify the Watchtower as a profit making organization (Based upon their usage of donor funds to invest the overwhelming bulk of their liquid assets in investment funds). If they are then fined for back taxes it could cause the organization to falter as a formal religion. Imagine the Watchtower filing for chapter 11. LOL.
However informally Jehovah's Witnesses and the doctrine would still continue for many many decades.

I don't think the Watchtower's copyright claim would survive if fair use was claimed:
From wikipedia:
Copyright does not prohibit all copying or replication. In the United States, the fair use doctrine, codified by the Copyright Act of 1976 as 17 U.S.C. Section 107, permits some copying and distribution without permission of the copyright holder or payment to same. The statute does not clearly define fair use, but instead gives four non-exclusive factors to consider in a fair use analysis. Those factors are:- the purpose and character of your use
- the nature of the copyrighted work
- what amount and proportion of the whole work was taken, and
- the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work.
---
Firstly, the primary purpose in reproducing the letter was to expose the dubious policies of the Watchtower corporation.
Secondly there was no monatary gain in reproducing the letter, the primary purpose was its news worthiness.
Thirdly, although the whole letter was reproduced it was to show that the information was not fabricated by apostates, but was legitimate.
Lastly, by reproducing the letter, no inherent monetary value of the letter was decreased. -

Thanks Lozhasleft and blindnomore,
Loz you wrote: " I think they made a collective claim and it seems the money went towards the World Wide Work? "
I just read the Swissbankclaims doc from 1999 and the Watchtower claimed they would use it for promoting Holocaust awareness.
Now the purple triangle was made in 1991, so I can only assume that what the Watchtower means by "holocaust awareness" is subsequent references to the holocaust in the pages of the Watchtower post 1999. So the assumption of the funds being used by the Watchtower by themselves is probably correct.
