The work has been banned in Nicaragua, during the sandinista-government, it was also banned in Argentina and also in Paraguay as far as my memory served me correct (and of course in Cuba until recently, they seem to be tolerated now). I once attended an assembly with no onebaptized. And they did not know it before. So the brother who gave the talk was a bit flabbergasted, but he just remodeled the questions and asked the audience to think about their own dedication and baptism. close to 1000 was in attendance.

I once remember a District Overseer giving a funeral speech. It was the most personal speech I´ve ever heard in a witness funeral. He did depart from the outline. It was personal and close. Her missionary son and daugher-in-law was not able to attend, so a touching poem from them was read.

Your favorite JW euphemisms...
by AuldSoul inthe heart and soul of doublespeak is euphemistic references.
i think many jws are not aware of how often they do this.
since leaving slightly over a year ago, i have discovered many that i had not even been aware that i used.

Friends is a term used in Scandinavia as well when referring to fellow believers.

I made my final farewell to my best friend. He is living in another country than mine, but I was his best man and he was truly the most sincere and genuine witness I ever met. I did not want him to know about me DA through someone else. So I wanted to a make a decent farewell. I got choked up, but we had a long conversation. However, we are on different planets. He stated that it does not matter what WE fell, how we FEEL or that we even are Happy. If we are not obedient and subordinate ourselves to Jehovah\s direction and his organization nothing else matters. He truly believes this is true.... And that all other than witnesses have void, emptly lives and will end up disappointed. I felt in a way sorry for him, and he feels sorry for me. But I left because I could not buy the rhetoric anymore. And today the shunning started. My ex-fine bumped across two sisters in the local congregation (normally we do not bump into them at all). One was her very best friend. No hello, avoiding eye contact, trying to go another way. It is their loss. We know why they act like that. And I just pity it. It is however, a cruel organization, that demands inhuman behavior.... Well, so glad I am out of her..... (Babylon the small)

Is the Watchtower beginning to lose its grip on its members?
by Gill ini have seen a counsellor on and off since leaving watchtower land.
she has made efforts to find out more about jehovah's witnesses.. we were discussing why my jw family (not my husbands' they shun us as if we smell bad!!!!
) are beginning to spend more time with us.

I read on another board, that the shunning policy is reaffirmed in January 2007 issue of the Watchtower. My parents/sisters chose to shun me after I finally disassociated myself after 4 years of non-activity.... It depens I guess where and when... I hope it will change though...

Of course, I meant to state:_ I feel (The support of colleagues, non-witness family and other friends etc have also been overwhelming both on formally leaving the JWs and also me being gay).

On the contrary, I fell I have risen. Above bigotry, prejudice and intolerance.

We only have one life, why spend it fighting? Personally, I find it easier to display socalled christian virtues, like compassion, emphathy and forgiving after leaving the JW religion. Now I try to display it cause it is good, before it was stressed so much that I got fed up.... (I was kind then too, but now I am relaxed and tolerant and it makes a change). I feel so content now. Doing that formal step of writing the DA letter made me feel free. It was like getting a citizenship in the World. Lovely.
