This is an American cultural thing.... The sentiments against breast feeding are not the same everywhere... In my country of Norway public display of breast feeding is everywhere and most people accept that without any problems whatsoever.

HEAR YE! HEAR YE! ADVENTISTS' GROWTH RATE IN BRAZIL OUTSTRIPS JWS'
by steve2 injoker10 started a thread some days ago - putatively just to "inform" us - about the growth of self-identifying jehovahs witnesses in brazil across two census periods, the year 2000 to the year 2010. this led to some enlivened discussion about growth rates, including in particular how this compared with other similar 'vintage' 'christianized' religions such as the mormons (latter-day saints of the church of jesus christ) and seventh-day adventists (sdas).
joker10 readily obliged by posting within the same day the relevant growth rates for the latter-day saints in brazil over the same census periods.
the jw growth rate easily outstripped those for the latter-day saints.

Finland: move to reinstate national service for JWs
by behemot inmove to reinstate national service for jehovahs witnessesdefence committee chair jussi niinisto says the preferential treatment granted to jehovahs witnesses is difficult to rationalise to other conscientious objectors.
a kingdom hall is a place of worship used by jehovah's witnesses.
image: yle jussi niinisto, who chairs parliaments defence committee, is demanding that the military service exemption granted to the jehovahs witnesses be abolished.

It will probably make no problem whatsoever as witnesses no longer object to civilian service which is normally a duty given to those who object to compulsury military service.

Prices of petrol
by InquiryMan ininterestingly, norway is an oil-producing country.
nevertheless, the price of petrol pr litre is at approx.
15 kroner, that is 2$50c a litre (roughly 10 dollars a gallon)... that is the highest price in any country... however, when estimated how much an average person has to work in order to buy the petrol, norwegians are among the 10 countries in the world that have the relatively "lowest" price.
-

That is my exact point. One cannot see on price of petrol isolated. One also has to take into consideration the increase of salaries and the level of income compared to prices...

However, when estimated how much an average person has to work in order to buy the petrol, Norwegians are among the 10 countries in the world that have the relatively "lowest" price. The reason for the high prices are of course taxes. Still, people complain....
