I remember very well when a similar letter was read to our Body of elders at approx. the same time. This was read even though this was not an issue in my country. (I remember thinking that it was pretty pathetic and paranoid). (I?ve faded since that... :-) Due to research (my own)

JW reaction to Tsunami-information
by InquiryMan inrealizing that many witnesses are concerned with how many of their fellow beliveres are affected by natural disasters, i did provide those i know with some information on sms.
the information was based on various postings on the jw-believers are of belief.net (various reports supporting one another).
i thus found them rather trustworthy.

Realizing that many witnesses are concerned with how many of their fellow beliveres are affected by natural disasters, I did provide those I know with some information on SMS. The information was based on various postings on the JW-believers are of belief.net (various reports supporting one another). I thus found them rather trustworthy. Most of them got the message without responding, some did thank and some were suspicious as to where I?d got the information. I replied truthfully as to my source. Interestingly, one of them misunderstood my abbrevations for Governing Body as meaning "minister" (referring to a member of the government) who had supplied info on JW. I thus had to explain on this, writing the following: No minister of government has mentioned JW. {Why on earth should they}. The prime minister nevertheless has urged all religious organizations to remember/pray for the victims and their relatives. ... No matter how one views it, it is just as bad whoever is dead - 200,000 is beyond comprehension. The websites of the Society do not mention the tragedy with a single word. The main topic on watchtower.org is Sanddunes in Poland. On the Media-site, a press-statement was posted on 1.1.05 describing various activities. Not a single word of the tragedy was mentioned. Quite incomprehensible. The web sites of other religions have broad coverage of the Tusanmi, and also allow for contributions to be made. Maybe the Society will act soon. Greetings. This prompted the following response: {My husband} means that JW have acted already without publizing their efforts. {which is true to a limited extense}. They act the same way they did with the 9/11 terror in the USA where they provided help by opening Kingdom Halls, gave food and shelter for people. The whole catastrophe is incomprehensible. But why are you so critical, or perhaps you?re even bitter? I think this is sooo sad. We know that the conditions shall be terrible all over the world, before JEHOVAH intervenes. All are entitled to think and believe what they want - they have not the overall information anyway - in contrast to Him that has created them. I HOPE YOU?RE AMONG THOSE WHO ENDURE. Funny that that me reporting solely on facts prompted such a harsh reaction. I just responded the following: I am just realistic. Events happen all over the world and it is coincidal where you are at a given time/place. Everyone has to take care of those close to them and give their support to others with the means they possess.

Thank You Simon
by Kenneson ini don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet, but even if they have it's worth repeating.
thank you for allowing the advertisement that reads: "tsunami earthquake--donate online--if you're reading this you can afford it.

I do understand. My statements on the Watchtower Societys efforts and lack of response was ironical... Sorry you did not grasp that. I do not support them whatsoever, only reported some facts.

Interestingly, the official sites of most religions advocate their relief efforts and makes it possible to donate money to aid the tsunami victims, e.g. cathlic.org, lds.org and sda.org The main topic on the Watchtower site is Sand Dunes in Poland, the jw-media site did state a statement on witness activities worldwide in the year of 2004 by T. Jarazc. Not a word is mentioned on the tragedy. (There are altogether three items on humanitarian efforts on their media-site (Liberia, Goma and Houston). It seems the watchtower society as the means to allow their followers to donate online, e.g. jw-gift.org site... so if they wanted it they could use this way of donating. Since the number of witnesses are small in the affected areas, I suspect the relief efforts will be accordingly. According to the Kingdom Ministry, believers are adviced to send their donations to their local banch, without specifying which area the money should be spent, just to the world-wide-work.

Are You a "Mess" Since Leaving The Organization or Are You OK?
by minimus inmost people have left the organization because of emotional issues.
the feeling that there is no real love or fellow feeling seems to get at people.
it gnaws at them.

I am glad I?m out of it, although it has been a long journey.
However, at the moment I am not able to fully appreciate it,
cause other (even more serious) problems are overshadowing it. -

How Do You View Pets - new article
by puppylove inhas anyone read this?
i had it shoved in my face in the subway at 42nd street this morning by the jw drone who stands there.
as usual, i controlled my urge to kick her, but the title of the article caught my eye, pet lover that i am.. i would assume it lays a load of guilt on anyone who holds their pet in high esteem..

I just skimmed through the article. It did not, as far as I saw, portray such a negative attitude as suggested above. However, keep in mind that Awake is also aimed at the mainstream public much more so than the Watchtower. An article in the Watchtower entitled: Beware of the danger of Pets would have had a different angle, I?d suppose!
