  just want to say hello, am so glad to find others like myself, no longer a jw, but still lovin god in spite of being killed in armageddon, and having family shun me.

  when i was a party girl and had no spiritual desires, there was always a chance that i'd "see the light" and go back to jdub land, but since i have become a (dare i say it???)......

  a plain old gospel reading christain...i am lower than dirt..apostate scum...buzzard snack(when jehovah kills me during the trib).

  the remnant

  i gave stats under jw decline, but i forgot one.

  during the last ten years, the number of the remnant has not changed, which means that as fast they die, they are being replaced with nebies.

  couple possibilities:.

  Wouldn't it be to the WTS's advantage to keep up the anointed numbers? The more the anointed, the longer they can put off armageddon, the more time they have to screw with eschatology, the longer they can sponge off of the r&f.

  hey y'all,.

  for whatever reason we find ourselves not working on this upcoming monday - have a good one, ok?.

  i cannot bring myself to utter the words "merry christmas" just too foreign.

  Merry Christmas!

  Saying these words reminds me of a time long ago before I was a JW. Wonderful memories growing up with all the family traditions. My cousins coming over on Christmas eve, staying up late and exchanging gifts. My grandma making her homemade fudge, having the house decorated with our Christmas school projects, anticipating the gifts I wished for and proud of my hand made creations to give to my parents and brothers. Singing Christmas carols with the family.

  I miss those days like crazy. It just isn't the same anymore. The years of being a JW hardened me in some way. I try to re-capture the feelings I used to have, but never seem able to. I'm a more distant person these days. I have a hard time being close to family members now. I used to hug everyone. It's hard for me to do that now. For 11 years I distanced myself from my family because they didn't embrace my religion. I conditioned myself to avoid family and friends. Time has passed me by, and I'm racing to catch up with it.

  Merry Christmas you guys! Tomorrow, I'll try to hug everybody at the family gatherings, and I'll imagine hugging all of you on the board. I know I've been kind of a dork and tend to ramble incoherently, but I think you might like me in person better. I've learned a lot on this board, and I thank you, Simon, for making it possible. I bow down and exclaim to all of you: I'm not worthy! I'm not Worthy!"

  Serious Question

  as we all know the society has very strict guidelines regarding conduct between the sexes.

  in the cong i grew up in, it was so small-minded that if you were single, and seen talking to a member of the opposite sex, you were presumed to be in some sort of relationship with him/her.. sex before marriage is out of the question, with heavy petting also looked down upon.

  dating is a serious affair, with all onlookers expecting engagement/marriage to be the outcome.

  i found some interesting statistics, some of which you may know, that indicate that the wtbts is in decline.. 1. in the twenty years from 1970 to 1990, the rate of yearly increase dropped from 10% to 6%.

  in the last 10 years it has dropped from 6% to about 2%.

  since the world population growth is about 1.5% they are only growing at about 1/2 of 1% faster than the population.. 2. in 1999, there were 21 large countries that showed a decline.

  Does anyone have stats on the growth of other religion, like 7th Day Adv., Mormons, etc? It would be interesting to compare.

  The WTS's past is coming back to bite them. There are just too many doctrinal botches for them to redeem themselves. More and more JW's are learning the inside details of their religion that the leaders didn't want them to know. The idea that the "light keeps getting brighter" just doesn't fit with the WTS's blunders and flip flops. I think It's going to be a helluva long time before their numbers start going up again, if they ever do. We may even see some major splits within the org. Protestant JWs?!

  Read Z. Sitchin's books and you'll learn a whole new way to look at the universe, how we got here, how Adam and Eve were made, who the Nephilim were, what planet they come from, how they traveled, etc. Very interesting. I'm not saying I buy his theories completely, but they are based on fact.

  Judicial Defense ?

  it occurs to me that this forum has a vast resource of knowledge and experience.

  i'd like to suggest we put our heads together and find possible defenses for active witnesses facing a judicial committee.

  with frenchy's intimate knowledge of committee rules and rr's huge library, along with everyone's individual experience; we we should be able to build a logical defense (assuming logic is a useful tool to jw's).. from my own research, i have put together a logical defense for an active jw who wishes to associate with a da'd friend.

  The WTS may have you by the short hairs if you were baptised in 1985 or after. At least in their minds. The emphasis is on adherence to an organization in the second set of questions.

  pre 1985 baptismal questions:

  (1) Have you repented of your sins and turned around, recognizing yourself before Jehovah God as a condemned sinner who needs salvation, and have you acknowledged to him that this salvation proceeds from him, the Father, through his SonJesus Christ?
  (2) On the basis of this faith in God and in his provision for salvation, have you dedicated yourself unreservedly to God to do his will henceforth as he reveals it to you through Jesus Christ and through the Bible under the enlightening power of the holy spirit?

  1985 and after questions:

  (1)On the basis of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, have you repented of your sins and dedicated yourself to Jehovah to do his will?
  (2)Do you understand that your dedication and baptism identify you as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in association with God’s spirit-directed organization?

  Even if a pedaphile gets help, and supposedly overcomes his "illness", who the hell in their right mind would let children get within a thousand miles of him? And why would a pedaphile expect to be able to be around children? Would we then "test" this person to see if his treatment works?
  
  Roy can shack up with his animals, as long as people are warned about his behavior. We don't want a new strain of disease to wipe out the world. Maybe there's an "I have sex with animals" or "beastiality' support group he can attend.[8>]
