  Catch the Holy Spirit...

  if you haven't seen it in person, you have probably seen cases on television of people catching the holy spirit.

  some people cry and wave their hands in the air, others bounce in place while mumbling, and some dance, holler, and "speak in tongues.

  " i was just wondering if any of you have witnessed the "holy spirit" in action at your kingdom hall.

  Can't say if these guys had the Holy Spirit or not, but up in the Appalachian mountains there are snake handling preachers who believe even if they are bit while handling a snake during services, the spirit will protect them.

  I have seen them, too! Bizarre. I do not believe in the Holy Spirt, so when I see phenomena like that I consider scientific explanations. Instead of using those experiences to build faith in God, I wish people would use those experiences to build faith in themselves. The human body (especially the brain/mind) is capable of amazing things.

I was just wondering if any of you have witnessed the "Holy Spirit" in action at your Kingdom Hall. I never did, but I saw it at a church I visited and it was interesting to say the least.

  just curious.

  i get the impression from reading posts that a great deal are.

  i also noticed while i was studying with them that virtually everybody has/had a relative that was disfellowshipped or knew someone who is/was.

  you know the type, the ones that say, "oh yes.

  i tried to not believe in god..." or "when i left the jws i became an atheist, but since i found jesus..." simply put, i don't believe them.

  i don't think they ever really stopped believing in god.

  I agree that it's improbable for an authentic atheist to become a Christian...but I do not think it is improbable for an authentic atheist to develop a belief in God. I consider myself somewhere between Agnostic and Pantheist but at one time, before I opened myself to the idea of God existing, I completely rejected God. So, I'm not a theist now but I can see how a reasonable atheist could become one.
