Availability Crisis of Conscience.

most of us are desperately waiting for the availability of a legal crisis of conscience.

deborah dykstra provided us with two updates.

on december 12, 2015 there was a clear statement about the copyright which stopped all illegal activity in spreading electronic versions & prints.. finally, she promised a new update by or before may 6.. so far no new update.

I read Crisis of Conscience and In Search of Christian Freedom recently as a PDF on Scribd. Not sure if this is a legal distribution or not.

I found both books immensely helpful in confirming my awakening, along with jwfacts.com, jwsurvey.com, YouTube and message boards. Wikipedia helped a lot too, because a lot of the information can be confirmed on Wikipedia with sources. Also Watchtower Documents was really helpful to be able to look at the actual literature in question.

Honestly, Cedars videos on YouTube are what woke me up initially. I was actually looking up Witness videos on YouTube and stumbled across his channel. So, regardless of whatever controversy there is, his videos are valuable and very helpful.

I tried to buy CoC on Amazon and it was like $175. I ended up downloading Scribd just so I could read CoC.

Any Reviews or Feedback from the District Convention??

i stopped in to see if that are any overwhelming statistics, stories or feedback from people regarding the 2016 district convention.....haven't seen much...... any stories or threads?.

The Shunning truth is now out...

i have been df'd for 9yrs as of july 31 (yay me!).

so as i have written about previously in other posts, my whole family (parents + sister) made the choice to treat me as if i do not exist, and i have accepted it.

last summer they made a blatant show of it as our family reunion, in that they would walk right by me and not say one word...prompting our extended family to question their actions.

Hey we got shunned by my husband's super self-righteous brother without even being inactive. We simply weren't doing enough in his estimation, so he has been shunning us. He still hasn't even laid eyes on my 7 month old son and he only lives 2 hours away.

it might just be me imagining things.. i hear things from my jw spies.. from all that's being said, it seems to me that the rank and file(tm), are either waking up to the scam and fading/leaving.

they are going full on 'cult mode' and acting like 'spiritual police'.. is it just me and my imagination?

have others noticed this?.

punkofnice, well you know how Americans are about British accents. I don't know why, but we just love them! Half the reason for watching British shows is the accent! :)

New Here ... Just woke up

this is my first post.

i haven't been out in service or to a meeting in over a month.. i realize now that i've been having serious questions for years and many articles and talks have greatly disturbed me over the years.

Thanks to everyone for all your support! It has been really helpful. Leaving this cult is very traumatic and it's hard not to be angry and resentful. I will try to focus on the positive and not dwell on how much this cult has ruined my life. I will try to get peace.

CONGREGATION FLEECING RESULTS?

We had nearly $350,000 saved up to help purchase a new Kingdom Hall closer to our territory. Land alone was around $2 million at the time and it was said that it was going to be the most/one of the most expensive Kingdom Halls ever built. Really needed though since most publishers were driving 15 - 25 minutes to get to the Hall in another town and it was really hard to get any interested ones to drive all that way to come to the Hall.

Anyway, when the new arrangement came out, we "loaned" all our money interest free to the Society and agreed to a monthly stipend of about $1800 to send as well.

It was then decided by the Society that we would just remodel the Hall we already had, which itself is in a very high value area, instead of building a new one closer to territory.

Believe me, I was irritated by this arrangement. Especially since I had gone out of my way to contribute generously toward our new Hall for years.

I had some solace at the time, thinking that the money was going toward poorer countries in need. Now I know what a crock of bull that was.

The Society can honestly do whatever it wants and the sheeple will go along and continue to take their beatings obediently.

What the Org Teaches #5 "God's" Law on Shunning is Flexible For Elders!

parents are forced by the org to regard their disfellowshipped children as if they were dead, non-existent - even if their child was in dire straits.

's feel when they hear that it's ok for elders to try and encourage disfellowshipped ones back to the org, but they can't?.

Except that Matthew 18:17 is not about disfellowshipping at all. It is about resolving a personal conflict. It states, "If he does not listen even to the congregation, let him be to you (singular) just as a man of the nations and a tax collector." Also, the passage states to bring the matter before the whole congregation, not a secret star-chamber of 3 elders, and then only after all the previous options had been exhausted.

This is something the Witnesses never follow. Never once does Jesus mention expelling or disfellowshipping in that passage. It is not even about that. Excommunication was something practiced by the Synagogues of the apostate Jewish nation, not something Jesus ever endorsed.

Just another example of the JWs perverting Scripture to suit their own ends. They are much more like the apostate Jewish nation and the Scribes and the Pharisees than they are anything like Christ Jesus. Jesus was a true revolutionary of his time and in many ways still of our time.

Just a little anecdote illustrating how out of touch the typical JW is

this weeks book study lesson was on martha, the sister of lazarus.

the chapter in the "imitate their faith" book praised her for being "industrious".. the conductor at our congregation meeting was just positively gushing about how "industrious" modern-day jw women are.. he was so exciting, he could barely get the words out.

following is not an exact quote, but conveys the gist:.

Yeah, one of the elders in our hall that is harassing me to meet with the brothers right now is always making sexist remarks about women and putting his wife down in service. He is a total self-righteous misogynistic douche. But he's wealthy and been an elder for decades, so in other words high status and untouchable.

This is the same guy that harassed and excessively criticized me for going to University. He actually said to me, "why don't you just start a business?" Ummm, maybe because my parents are dirt poor and can't give me tens of thousands of dollars to start a business like your dad did for you?

Just clueless.
