Definitely have never seen a Broadway show, but have seen plenty of London productions and productions in the Dallas area. I got to see Richard Burton in Camelot a few years before he died, I saw Barry Williams do the Music Man in 1997 (didn't know Greg Brady could so sing so well). However one of my favorites remains a 1977 production of The Unsinkable Molly Brown, with Debbie Reynolds and Harve Presnall. What a great show!

To Mouthy - no I haven't signed up for the convention in PA, yet. However your notice has put signing up front and center. I last visited in 1997 and want to see everyone and have a great old time. Look forward to hearing a lot of giggling coming from me, I will be so glad to see everyone, especially YOU!

Would you take your shoes off?
by Golden Girl inif you went to someones house as a guest and they asked you to take your shoes off..would you?..would you be offended?....
does anyone know if this is proper etiquette?.
didn't know where else to post this........ my daughter was invited to a neighbors house and they requested people remove their shoes!...she never had anyone ask her that before.

I remember a few years ago taking a home tour in some high dollar houses. They asked us to take off our shoes and we put on these hospital like booties. Sort of funny in the beginning, but when you saw the flooring of these homes you understood why. That's the only time I have ever been asked to remove my shoes.

Did You Ever Want To Beat Someone Up?
by minimus inwe hear how the miracle of the truth changes people.
those that had animalistic qualities have become sheep.
those that had violent tempers learned real self-control.if you're not a "believer" anymore, have you ever wanted to just smack a person because they irritated you?.....there is one co that i wouldn't mind whacking, still, after all these years.

Definitely wanted to whack some people during my days as a JW. But like everything else in the JW's, never had the nerve to do...BUT leave those guys I did have the nerve to do.

Can they announce that you are df'd or da'd without telling you?
by lv4fer ini know this sounds like a stupid question.
we haven't attended a meeting in almost a year.
about 5 months ago they sent us a registered letter saying they wanted to meet with my husband and i and discuss charges of apostasy.

Yes of course these arrogant so and sos think they can do whatever they want...although I believe it's selectively done. They have left me alone for years, although others I know in the same situation have been bugged do death by the elders. I suppose one day they will come and bug me!

Vaccinations
by onacruse inthe other day i had a discussion with someone about the wts and vaccinations.
i have a strong memory that at one time vaccinations were prohibited by the wts, but when i searched the cd the earliest ref i found made it a matter of conscience:.

I remember watching a TV show with Joan Cetnar and she said how she had to get a scar put on the side of her arm to get into school because at the time, vaccinations were prohibited in the WT. This must have been in the 1940's.

Why did you get out of JW?
by WorldsEyeView inwhy did all of you guys get out?.
i have a friend who is a jw, and i don't think she is right at all.
do you guys have any convincing arguments on why jw is wrong?
-
TresHappy
Because of the control issues - and all the cult information on the TV locally because the Branch Davidian siege was in our geographic back yard. I began to realize the common links between the BD's and the JW's, and then that's when my started thinking!

Think how lucky us ex JW's are today. When people started leaving way back when, no Internet or support was available. Has anyone read the testimony of Bill and Joan Cetnar, who left in the 1960's? Amazing testimony!
