I remember those special talks, assemblies, etc. Must not be too special, because the only thing I remember is them saying "blah...blah...blah..."

shooters? Drinking before meetings? Anyone?
by goofy inok, up to the last i would make sure and have a few drinks before i went to the meeting.
it helped me relax as i am very hypertense and up to the last was going crazy listenning as i truly believe the speakers were getting more boring than before.
i never did but thought it would be cool to sneak a shooter in your purse and down it in the restroom mid-way, but i can't drink hard liquor straight, so that didn't happen.

Never been much of a drinker, now I am so totally against it, but that's for personal reasons. If I had drank before the meeting, I would have fallen asleep. Good idea now, but at the time, someone would have surely counseled me for being lit.

Princess Diana.....remember??!!
by ScoobySnax influffy i know.
but tonight i was thinking it must be almost 6 years since diana was killed in that car crash in paris, and i was thinking about the outpouring of grief that happened not just here, but around the world.
i never was one of the ones that went to london on the day of her funeral as at the time i was flying back from a holiday in turkey, but i remember it appearing in newspapers out there and people of different nationalities coming up to me and expressing their condolences, particulary this french bloke hugging me whilst i was sitting around the pool a couple of days after the crash!.

Miss her. Miss her being on all the People Magazine covers. She's not here to see how nice her boys have become (William will be 21 in June!) Remember her with fondness, which she didn't die like that.

Curious about Abortion Stand Now
by Oroborus21 inhowdy,.
ok this is not to say that only jws are anti-abortion or that persons are not capable of fluctuating on this issue for reasons other than orthodox jw reasons or completely unrelated to them, *phew*.
but what i was wondering and my question for the exjws here is this: .

While I am totally against abortion, it's because I have been trying to get pregnant and I don't understand it. Who the heck am I to tell another woman not to have an abortion? There are no easy answers here...I guess I am against abortion but in a since pro choice?

AM or FM? What is your favorite Radio Station?
by JH indo you still listen to am radio stations?.
older people listen more to am i would think.
all youngsters listen to fm, and never am radio.. .

Definitely FM - most of the stuff below 92 on the dial. Which means it's non-profit, so not as many commercials. Did anyone else know about that - all non-profit stations being below 92 - sort of interesting...(at least it was to me - lol)

I remember Don Farmer. Big Tex, I heard the rumor that he went out in service one time and this little yappy dog was barking his head off at him and he knocked the dog with his bookbag and killed the little dog. Don't know if that's another urban legend.

Your favorite Watchtower oddities
by logansrun inyou know, there are some things phrased that are just so, so....watchtoweresque.
what are some things you see that remind you of some wt foibles?
one thing that always cracks me up is when an article or book (or post) uses too many exclamation points.

"Jehovah's clean organization" - no wonder scrubbing toilets and cleaning the Kingdom Hall was supposed to be "beneficial" and "upbuilding".
Another thing, all of the crazies at the assembly standing in line waiting for the newest publication copy. The "latest and greatest" from the "Faithful and Discreet Slave."
And also the term "Jehovah's happy people" - why was I so MISERABLE? I know, I didn't put Jehovah first in my life...

Who should be voted off AMERICAN IDOL?
by morrisamb in.
thank god corey is gone (although he was booted, not voted off).. anyone watch today?
kimberley locke was simply amazing...reuben as well.... clay was great but played it safe...too bad joshua didn't...he was the worst singer tonight....it was painful to watch...disco is not his genre of singing.... i also liked carmen.. of the judges, i love simon's honesty.. reuben looks like a shoe-in for american idol finalist...i wish his competition was either kimgerly locke or clay

I thought it was Carmen's time to be voted off, since she was in the bottom 2 last week. I thought Rickey would be voted off, but not this soon. I think Ruben will win this thing...everyone loves him, especially Simon Growl.

Supposing I Want To Go To An Assembly?
TresHappy would then remember what the late Ann Landers said: "I think you've got a geranium in your cranium."
