That Revelation book was SO HARD to understand. I couldn't get it at all. There was so much read into these Scriptures, this ancient text means the modern FDS. The symbolism would give me migraines.
How about "Jehovah's Witnesses and the Question of Blood." We studied that book in Book Study and and then a couple of years later we studied it again. "We will take certain things, but not certain blood products...." "Blah, Blah, Blah."

I remember seeing that tombstone when we went to Tombstone, AZ in 1977. Cracked me up...then we got in the car and heard on our lousy AM radio that Elvis had just died.

i recall that someone said that for lunch they had to go out to the local mini-mart and grab a hot dog that was simmering all day on the grill!
I remember one particular assembly in Fort Worth when they still met at Will Rogers Coliseum and it was horribly hot. The man behind me took some bottled water out of his cooler and gave it to me. That was the nicest random act of kindness ever done to me at an assembly. Coolers were the norm and I really never noticed anyone bringing huge contraptions.
These attempts to regulate everyone and their behavior is nothing new. The WT just keeps recycling the same old thing, over and over.

my brother and his wife were giving her a little "coming back" party with about a total of 35 guests.

All kidding aside, I know a few years ago when a young girl graduated from high school, her parents were giving her a nice party. The invitations were handed out at the KH, and the elders nearly went bonkers. This elder said to them: "God's house is not to be used for such things as that..." The girl's parents were dumbfounded. It wasn't long before they stopped attending.
i want to give my house a name.
lot's of my neighbours have already done this, so we have a plethora of name boards springing up in my road.
(actually, i susupect it's a sort of snobbery so that people will know that it's not just another old house full of flats and bedsits but a privately owned whole house).
How about "Dysfunction Junction."
1. have an apostate food truck outside with free burritos and shasta cola.. 2. wear a smurf costume and run across the stage.. 3. bikini car wash across the street.. 4. have an old-school breakdancing session on the corner, cardboard and all.
bonus if you do it on a mat made of watchtowers and primary colored book covers.. 5. have a garage sale or flea market in the neighborhood during the afternoon session.. 6. sit in the audience and applaud everything that anybody says - try to get a standing ovation for each sentence of the closing prayer.. 7. put a recording of rap, heavy metal, or other forbidden music on instead of the kingdom melodies.. 8. get fifty of your friends to walk around in the stadium during the session, holding signs that say, "louder please!
" and "take your shirt off!
Yawn and sigh as loud as possible to disrupt the people around you trying to hear the spiritual feast.
Get up and down several times during a session, and when the people around stare at you, tell them you have the bladder the size of a peanut.

You're right Country Girl, these death row inmates aren't physically on the Internet. Some of the men have married their pen pals, many who live in Europe and visit several times a year. Death row inmates used to have a lot of "freedom," if you could say that. They were allowed to work in the prison factory, had time to go out on the grounds for exercise, mingle together...that all came to a halt in 1998 when that death row inmate broke out over the Thanksgiving break. He was later found dead (drowned) and more egg on the face of Texas prison officials. They transported all the death row inmates (men) to a new death row where they are locked in their cells 23 hours per day. TV went bye bye, and if the inmate is good, he may have a radio in his cell.
The women on death row in Texas are allowed to work (making prison pal dolls) and have more freedom than the men. The women on death row typically behave better.
What kills me is that one of those prison pal requests is Robert Neville. He and a friend abducted a former coworker on her way to work on her bike (she was mildly retarded - can you say that word these days). Poor girl was taken to a field and shot. The guys made their way to the Texas border and were caught. Then they got on television and descibed the crime to reporters...what horrible footage.
This young girl used to carry out my groceries on occasion. I still think about her whenever I drive by that grocery store.

If she is found guilty of first-degree murder, the jury has a lot of choices in sentencing. If she did not have a prior record, she theoretically could be sentenced to probation. If she is convicted and given a life sentence, she would have to serve 30 calendar years before she could even be eligible for parole. Since she has plead guilty to tampering with evidence, she could get 2 - 10 years for that alone. Depending on the judge, she could serve whatever sentence she gets concurrently with the tampering conviction, or the judge could make her serve her sentences "stacked" - meaning she would have to serve one and then the other.
In my previous post, I said she ought to plead guilty to a lesser offense, like manslaughter. That's if the prosecution was offering a deal like that. Plea bargains always save the state money (no trial, no trial expenses.) I haven't heard of any plea deals going on here.
Previously, the term "life in prison" in Texas meant someone could be eligible for parole after as little as 15 years. It was then increased to 20 and now 30...however being eligible only means eligible. If someone if convicted of capital murder and they aren't given the death penalty, they must serve 40 calendar years before being eligible for parole.

Since I started doing genealogy awhile back, I really would like to have a tombstone like the ones you see in an old part of the cemetery, a "Woodsmen of the World" tombstone. They are usually shaped like trees or tree stumps...but they don't make them anymore.
Just put my cremains in a niche and be done with it...
