When I went to Bethel in 1987 (England) I saw all kinds of guys working the presses wearing jeans. I was in pants myself because I had been touring all day in London and wore tennis shoes. No one ever said anything to me. As a matter of fact, I was treated with much kindness and shown the facility and given a meal. It was true hospitality.

Bethel Police pulled me over for a violation
by What-A-Coincidence inwearing faded jeans only as a bethelite is a cause for concern for the governing body.
i had jeans that were not totally faded as the "world" would consider them.
so one freaken' weekend as i passed by a wt building, a tightwod bethel elder (now just an elder) asked me how i was doing (bla bla bla).

The one thing you don't want me to do is talk too much. Ask mouthy - she has first hand knowledge!

Which annual JW event did you dislike the most?
by jambon1 ini actually never liked the memorial.
it was`nt a very spiritual occasion at all really.
i hated feeling guilty about not doing the scheduled bible reading.

Starting your menstrual cycle at the District Convention and there are NO tampons in any of the machines was one of the worst experiences I have ever had - sorry for the TMI.

Why don't Dub families have pets?
by MinisterAmos inout of a dozen or so dub families that live near me i can only think of one with a dog.
at mt ex-congo, i only knew of two families with pets, dogs/cats.
the non-dub pet owning percentage around me is near 100%.

The majority of JW's I knew had pets. I knew several pioneer sisters who didn't have kids but had dogs in their place.

Invite your friends to a nice restaurant; make them buy your dinner and have the waiter sing Happy Birthday - they'll bring out a big piece of chocolate cake and make you blow out the candle. Informal but fun!

So What Exactly is an Unbaptized Publisher
by MrsBee in.
a lady i know was telling me that she studied for 10 years and was considered an upbaptized publisher before being baptized.. is that possible, i didnt think and organization such as the jw's would let you just soak up all their "knowledge" without becoming one of the crew... :)
although havent been on here in a while since i had my son, i came on here asking for advice because i was having trouble dealing with the fact my husband was thinking about going back to the dubs, and he still hasnt gone back..yayayayayay... and im soooo happy, he still has most of their beliefs , but thats okay, they arent 100% bad, they helped him change his life..but i dont bother him cuz i dont want him runnin back!!!

And if you're a baptized JW, don't you dare date an unbaptized publisher for fear of being marked by the higher-ups. Nothing worse than seeing the cutest guy in town and he's just studying...(speaking of first-hand experience).

New user in Pittsburgh, Pa
by somlat ini feel a little odd in posting this..... i am a 39 year old former witness, former elder, former just about everything.
been through much in the last two years... realized not all things i believed were true to me, not all things in the faith work the way i thought.
no anger about the past... i did what i believed to be true to myself, and what others do is their decision.
