He's still a JW, and has an entourage when he goes out in service. His wife is also very devout, from what I hear. I know his son from his first marriage died in infancy, do you think he'll have any with the current one?

Whats the tallest tale you've spun and someone's believed it?
by misspeaches ini was just remembering how one day i told my good friend that bed mattresses are made out of cigarette butts.
well i must have been very convincing because about a week later i happened to over hear her telling someone else about this 'fact'.
i had to quickly stop her and tell her that i had only been joking!.

I remember when I was a teenager my father tried calling the house incessantly because of a death in the family. I had been on the phone for hours when I was grounded (for bad grades). He came home ready to lower the boom and I acted like wtf - I said I hadn't been on the phone but that the receiver had fallen off the carriage (one of those old princess phones). He believed me! I said the bedspread must have knocked it off because the phone had been under the bed. He really believed it.

What's the BIGGEST LIE you ever heard?
by nicolaou in.
someone i knew stood up at the convention to answer her two baptism questions both with a "yes".
she was having an affair with a married brother at the time.. but i'd top my 'biggest lie' list with four small words; "in the beginning, god"

I first met Grace in the early 1990's. Scared to death I was at that ex JW convention...Grace was always there to offer a word of encouragement. You're awesome Grace. Thanks for being there and putting up with me all these years.

Saturday morning books study & Field Service combined
by JH ini noticed recently that the book study i used to attend, used to be on a tuesdays or thursdays, but now it's on a saturday morning.. i notice that there are quite a few book studies on saturdays now.
i think that 2 out of the 4 books studies in my congregation are on saturdays.
is this a new way to get people to go out in the field service on saturdays?

I enjoyed Saturday studies at the KH because it one less meeting during the week I had to go to...I was notorious for not going to meeting during the week, too darn tired from work I suppose. The Saturday meetings were great and in the JW eyes it was good because I was going out in service during those times. I could "kill" 1/2 a day. Then I would go home and sleep and then do laundry. Saturdays were always laundry, always.

When trying to talk to a JW what is the best method?
by omerp inif there is someone whom is a long time jw, how do you bring him back into reality or is that possible?
how do you make them reflect that it is possible that they are wrong about the bible track society?
anything you say they alway twist it around anyways with their prepared answers.

One thing has helped me - the publication from Watchman Fellowship. "Jehovah's Witnesses and the Dating Game." Great thing to use to point out all the Watchtower error dates.

Did You Ever Have a GOOD Body of Elders?
by Warlock inwhen i came into the org.
in the early 1980's, we had a good body of elders.
they took the lead and cared for the sheep.. the oldest was in his mid- 70's, had a sharp mind, great sense of humor and was just plain cool.

I think in the early 80's our congregation elders were the sweetest, kindest and dearest men you could know. Most are deceased or in their 80's now. Then they started splitting up the congregation, I think we split three times in about 5 years. Growth, they said..but instead of having 150 at the meeting we started having 50 to 60 which made the pickins' really slim. They started putting men in the elder position who had only been JW's for a relatively short period of time. That's when I saw the cliques, all the dysfunction and the autocratic rule of the JW's. I only lasted a few more years, before my sanity came to a breaking point and I had to leave...
