It felt great. I got the voter card in my driver license renewal packet. I thought "why not". I was studying when I first voted awhile back (I won't mention his name but he's a former actor and he was Governor of California - not Arnold - lol, of course he's not governor - yet!)

Why do I go to another church?
My religious upbringing was scant and vague. My parents took me to Sunday school and when we moved to a city and visited different churches. Then Mom got a knock on the door and started studying with JW's when I was in elementary school. Dad was absolutely furious! Then we stopped celebrating holidays and had family studies. Then we went to the KH every now and then. Then Mom and Dad became baptized. I then became baptized and was pretty devout until 1991. Then my life came crashing before. That WT bubble that protected me suddenly didn't protect me anymore. I watched Christian TV and saw John Ankerberg, who had 4 ex Jehovah's Witnesses on his show (including Joan Cetnar, who does the ex JW convention in PA every year) and all those questions they had been asking were the ones I had. Then the Branch Davidian thing happened in Waco. They had all these cult experts on television, and I realized I was in a destructive cult. I was mad at God but always believed in him. Many years later I stepped foot back into a religious building for worship. And it's awesome.

Ex-JW Convention in Pennsylvania coming up!
by Dogpatch infor those who are inclined, i recommend this convention.. october 17-19, 2003. pfo?s international convention will celebrate its silver anniversary in 2003. from humble beginnings in 1979, the convention has been a consistent source of counsel, support, and encouragement for people whose lives have been torn apart by the watchtower society.
during the past twenty-four years, help to jehovah?s witnesses who desire to break free from the organization and to families who have lost loved ones to the sect have been a primary focus of the meetings.
the three-day conventions are filled with doctrinal teaching, examinations of jehovah?s witness doctrine and practice, and wonderful testimonies by those who have made their exodus from the watchtower organization and have found true salvation through jesus christ.. http://www.pfo.org/2003wnfj.htm.

I went to this convention previously, in 1994 and 1997. My first year, I was newly removed from the WT and in SO much pain, I can't even describe it. I was scared the whole time, thinking everyone there was a WT spy. What I found was a lot of love, and a lot of understanding. I am not too crazy about all the tables set up in the lobby selling various counter-cult ministry materials, but that's not my call. I am going again this year, partly to see friends and bug the heck out of mouthy, but also to have some healing. This has been a horrible year for me and I want to put it ALL (JW bull____ ) behind me once and for all.

Would You Ever Sue Someone or a Company???
by minimus ini know some people that are "sue-crazy".
if they can sue a store or insurance company over anything, they will.
what would justify suing over a matter, to you?

They just passed Prop 12 here in Texas, which reads as following:
Background: In a liability lawsuit, the jury can award two types of damages: economic damages, such as compensation for medical bills and lost wages, and non-economic damages, such as for pain and suffering. Proposition 12 authorizes the legislature to set the maximum award for non-economic damages in medical malpractice lawsuits beginning immediately, and for other types of lawsuits beginning in 2005. Under legislation that would take effect if voters approve this amendment, the most anyone could collect from a doctor in a medical malpractice suit for "pain and suffering" would be $250,000.
So if you're litigious, the amounts have been capped.
