Most humane societies have the obedience training you probably need. My brother absolutely loves dogs, my mom had gotten a puppy (out in service of all things) way back in early 1987 and gave it to my sister. My sister and her hubby could have cared less about that poor dog, and it also ate everything. My brother-in-law threatened to take this dog to the pound, so my brother rescued this dog in 1988. He took her to obedience training sponsored by the Humane Society in our local area and guess what, the dog became obedient and a wonderful, loving dog. That dog lived to be 16 1/2 years old, succumbing to old age in May of this year!

Giving Away the Family Dog
by imallgrowedup ini was wondering if anyone out there has ever needed to find a new home for a family pet, and if so, how they handled breaking the news to the kids.
we got this dog when he was 13 weeks old and he is now 16 months old.
in the short time we have had him, despite all the love and attention he receives, he has destroyed our home!

Saint Elsewhere

St. Elsewhere - The nickname of St. Eligius Hospital, an impoverished Boston teaching institution with a fine open-heart surgery department on the medical drama ST. ELSEWHERE/NBC/1982-88. St. Eligius was founded in 1935 by Father Joseph McCabe (Edward Herrmann), a Roman Catholic priest who took on the responsibility of caring for the city's needy. In January 1956, the City of Boston bought the hospital from the church. The hospital got its nickname because when the poor of the city went to other hospitals in the area, they were told to go "elsewhere." Those refused service at other hospitals, however, were welcomed warmly at St. Eligius Hospital. Upon entering the facility, they were greeted by a white statue of St. Eligius (patron saint of artists and craftsman) which stood prominently with arms outstretched in the hospital's lobby.

Sort of wish this had been around when I was single in the WT. There was absolutely no place to meet young people unless you were willing to look really desperate. When I complained about it, wonderful Mom said "Well, maybe you can meet someone while making sandwiches at the District Convention..."

Like many in Hollywood, his sudden fame became too much for him and he blew all his earnings on drugs and alcohol. He was most recently seen in a cameo in "Dickie Roberts" and had recently suffered a stroke. Shirley Hemphill, also of "What's Happening", died at 52 also.

Mouthy - Great to see you also. Glad I was able to say goodbye before I left. I arrived safely back home Monday night with a Northeastern cold and huge blisters on my ankles from walking in Manhattan. I so enjoyed seeing everyone at Blue Mountain Christian Retreat.
My favorite thing I saw Frannie - definitely the Statue of Liberty. Awesome, that's the only way to describe her. Everything I thought it is and more!
The saddest thing I saw - Flight 93 Memorial in Shankesville, PA. Very moving and very sad indeed.
Most suprising thing - seeing actress Ellen Barkin in the booth behind me at a Greek deli in Manhattan!
Most interesting thing - the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Lots to see!
