Can you imagine having a chaperone in the back seat? That happened on more than one occasion to me? I thought it was the WEIRDEST thing. I never chaperoned though. What a crock!

There are so many out there. Too numerous to mention. BUT I agree with Mulan, Neil Diamond. I won front row tickets to his concert in 1988 and will never forget it. I remember I was so excited when Neil Diamond perspired on me!

When I was an active JW, I worked with a fellow JW who used to "supervise" my activities - lol. One day I was eating some birthday cake from a fellow coworker's party and she told the elders. Get this, this elder told her to mind her own business. I think the elders in my former congregation have let me totally alone because of my father is so well-liked by everyone. That's my take on it anyway.

Being Theocratic Before Meetings
by Nosferatu inone thing that my mother was trying to instill in me was to be "theocratic" before the meetings.
many times i would drive me and my mother to the meetings while listening to "wreckx-n-effect" or "ac/dc".
she would usually give me hell for this and told me i should listen to kingdom melodies to get my mind prepared for the meeting.. another "problem" was the conversations that went on before meetings (or even on field service) where me and someone else my age would be talking about something completely unrelated to the "truth".

Oh does this thread bring back bad memories. Sister Blank and I were out one day in service (you know, get a lot of time doing laundrymats) and we stopped at a nearby Braum's for an ice cream. We're sitting there, talking and I see a morning paper at a nearby table and I grab it to read the headlines. Sister Blank looks at me with these fiendish eyes and says "Don't you think you should be looking at a Society publication?" I turned and said "HELL NO!"

Why I Will No Longer Be Flying the "Friendly Skies"
by SanFranciscoJim inheightened security measures in the u.s. now demand the implementation very soon of a new program called "capps ii".
airline passengers will now be required to not only present photo identification at the airport ticket counter, they will now be required to also provide their date of birth.. airlines are being ordered by the so-called "homeland security" agency to determine if each passenger is a flight risk, rating them "green" (ok to fly), "yellow" (need to be interrogated before allowing access to the aircraft), or "red" (forbidden to fly under any circumstances).. while many see this as a necessary security measure in the shadow of the 9/11 disaster, others are screaming "foul" because they believe it is an invasion of their privacy.. once this plan is initiated, i will no longer patronize airlines, not because of the invasion of privacy factor, but because of the threat of datamining.
what is "datamining"?

I believe if a terrorist attempts to take over a plane again, all the passengers will descend upon it and stop it. I will fly when I have to...it's just a scary world we live in these days!

When I flew this past October, it was the first time since 1998. Not that I don't like to fly, it's just that I drive to most of my destinations. When I flew to PA, I had to show my drivers license to the sky cap, he typed in my name and voila, I had my boarding pass, since it was an e-ticket. I then proceeded to security, where again I showed my driver's license. The TSA insisted on seeing on my other driver's license, which I brought because it expired in two days (my birthday was in 2 days). I told her I brought both because the other hadn't expired. She look dumbfounded. I then went thru the security, and then waited to board. Then I had to show my driver's license again with my boarding pass. The boarding pass was placed thru a machine and then and only then, was I allowed to board. There were loads of people at security and they were for the most part, very professional. However, I can understand why many say TSA stands for "Thousands Standing Around!"
