Tez Sorry to hear you going through such growing pains. I would add that if JWsaccept that it is permissible to use certain components of blood - is it OK for JWs to be blood doners? After all it is not fair to take these blood parts from worldlings but say it is wrong to give in return

By way of an apology...

i now fully understand your anger and your desire to try and get jw's out of this blood guilty cult.

False hope and false expectations
by TooBad TooSad ini have been feeling alot of anger the last couple of years as i reflect on my past life as being a jw since the 1960's.
i often complain to my wife, who is still active but is wearing down little by little, that i am so sick and tired of hearing every meeting how close the end is.
i tell her that maybe i should not worry about a retirement plan for her and i and why should i worry as my health and strength are beginning to ebb away.

It is sad to see so many disillusioned people trying to make sense of a wasted life. Many Witnesses who have reached middle age unmarried, childless and uneducated are told that the choices they made were their own responsibility and that the Society have never tried to predict when the “Old World” will end or tell its members how to live. It is nothing short of scandalous.

I think many of you will return to the religion one day
by free2beme ini don't mean this as an insult, more of a life experience thing.
i saw a lot of people leave in my years there and a lot were angry with the religion and the people, and some even protested the kingdom halls and wrote things in the newspapers.
a lot though, came back in time, as it was just the comfort zone they felt at ease in.

Friends of mine have gone back after many years out. The crucial factor in every case was that they never stopped believing it was the truth. They just felt they were not good enough or could not keep up with the circus. They live outside the Tower in fear of Armageddon until they folded and run back to the welcoming claws of the JWs.
In my experience people who leave because they no longer believe it is the truth, rarely go back.

OK! Things move on and we have all become more enlightened and aware of how conditional our little club was. I am also aware of the huge cost of maintaining those friendships and the wasted years while I pined all my hopes on a new world. But I still have some very warm and wonderful memories of the times I had with my JW friends. At the time I was a JW and birds of a feather flock together. I shared their hopes, values and beliefs.
There were some very loving and kind people in the set up. Some of the greatest moments in our lives turn out to have been illusions built on sand. To find real happiness once youth has passed is a deeper and more deliberate pursuit and it take courage and maturity.
We must never forget that despite all its faults and waste, the past got us to today.

what have you learned since you left the org?
by fullofdoubtnow ini have learned so much about the org since i da'd - the truth about the un scandal, the false reasoning regarding the 1914 doctrine, how widespread a problem child abuse really is in the org, things that i would never have found out if i was still in.
i can also understand why the gb don't like jws accessing the internet, there is far too much information about the wts on there for their liking.. the most important thing i have learned, or perhaps re - learned however, is the value of true, non - conditional friendship.
for so many years i thought the jws i mixed with were my true friends, but now i know they are not.

I have learned to stop judging people.
That compliance to the set of values I presently chose to hold should not be a condition of friendship.
There is no need to be wary of people who wear beards - unless they are women!

You would enjoy the books by the scientist Lyall Watson, such as Gifts of unknown things and Supernature. He explains some of the unexplained phenomena of water and says that science does not yet fully understand all there is to know about water. I think we should alway keep an open mind and be prepared to change our view of the world as it is presently understood. It encourages discovery and progress and is good mental exercise.

The happiest people in the world are Jehovah’s Witnesses. You can tell by their kingdom smiles and the cheerful way they go from door to door.

I have listened right through the talk you gave. The way you built up to your announcement using scripture was subtle and sincere.
I was both moved and impressed by what you did and the love you expressed for those you were to leave behind. To talk so calmly and control your emotion, knowing what you were about to do, must have taken great courage and character.

Jehovah's INEFFECTIVE Witness...(Why no TV ministry???)
by Terry inwhat if i asserted the following as true?
the watchtower bible and tract society has no interest in an effective evangelical program of conversion.. would that sound silly?
disfellowshipping would lead to having a big target placed on the ex jw's back at armageddon.. .

Jehovah’s Witnesses have been told that they must earn their salvation. Sitting in a warm Kingdom Hall with fellow clones is not enough. They must do something they don’t really want to which tests their faith and demonstrates they are slaves doing Jehovah‘s will. The door to door work is just that. They are told that time spent trying to save others is an investment with Jehovah, which will make them righteous. After investing for so many years, walking away would loose the investment they have worked so hard to build up.
The Society’s publication “Babylon the Great has Fallen” 1963 explains:
“The person now righteous in God’s sight should keep on practising righteousness. The one who is holy as a slave of God should continue being made holy. Otherwise they will lose all the credit they have built up by their previous righteousness and holiness. But if they keep on in righteousness and holiness, they will at last have an accumulated credit with God and be richly rewarded for this. What a warning and an encouragement!” (Page 672)
