"...it's just one of the reasons I suspect that God is alive and kicking."
Let's hope he doesn't end up with a broken metatarsul bone in his foot!
an answer to this question is subjective to the individual an a posteriori experiene.
however, can there be an a priori experence, one that is objective, outside the bounds of personel experiene, or does it remain subjective?
god speaks to me, through many venus, except audible.

i got a text this morning from my 17 year old nephew.
he told his parents last night that he didn't want to go to any more meetings and he was not attending the memorial because he doesn't believe the way jdubs believe.
i'm not sure how his parents have responded.
Thanks for your answer, PSacramento.
You are a sincere man who always answers honestly.
I already knew that Jesus is invisible!

PSacramento "It’s amazing since, in the words of Christ …"
I am aware that you have pressures to cope with in your life, at the moment and I feel empathy for you. Your beliefs have such a great influence on your mental health that I feel it necessary to ask:
On such an important issue, are these the words of Christ according to the bible, much of which you dismiss, or the words of Christ that he has spoken to you personally?
I do not ask this lightly, it goes to the heart of your beliefs and the message you bring to this board.
what if everything you thought was true turned out to be a lie?.
what if some of the most important "facts" turned out to be false?.
does seeing your strongly held convictions shattered, refuted, disproved hold out liberation for you or a sense of doom and embarassment?.
Everything I believed in did turn out to be a lie.
Fortunately the underlying reality of life never lied to me and my roses still come out in the spring.
this is a competitive universe.
well, here on earth, anyway.... none of us has to settle for less than the very best unless we are cheap.. why hire a cheap god when you can get a better one?.
what the heck am i talking about?.

Terry: “Tammy has a perfectly delightful God who is warm, fuzzy, loving and a real pal who is THERE for her.”
It does seem that people who adopt a god, find one that suit their needs. Nice people have a nice god. People who like many words adopt a verbose god with a long name. Those that place great emotional value on belief in god, have an emotional god.
At the opposite end of human desire, crusaders who wanted to conquer foreign lands, from the Israelites through to recent European history, adopted a god who told them to go and kill the people who occupied land they wanted. People who like lots of money find a god that wants them to get rich through setting up a new branch of religion.
God can be anything you want. I don’t find the idea of a personal god who pokes his nose into my business, desirable. But I am blown away by the vastness of the universe and its mysterious power. So to me the universe is god.
Terry’s idea that we fire our god if it is not what we want and adopt one that is – sounds great to me. Whatever floats your boat!
i don't believe that there is such a thing as a perfect, or an ideal situation.
ideal is the more appropriate word to use, because the word itself denotes a conception, a remote possibility, not a reality.
i'm asking you, in your lifetime, have you ever found complete fulfillment, or felt complete within yourself, and your accomplishments?
Seeking satisfaction in life through goals is a never ending quest. There is no place to arrive at. You are already here. Realizing that each moment is your reality, is the secret to contentment.
I live in a nice house now with a lovely wife but years ago I lived alone in a number of bed-sits planning to achieve success. Those dreamy, solitary, penniless days were some of the best of my life. It’s all a state of mind.

Folks talks about "balance" and "moderation" and things of that nature. Why utterly reject that there just may be a MIDDLE ground... simply because of what occurs by means of those at the remote pole? Aren't BOTH poles unreasonable... if we're talking true balance? One does NOT have to believe in, go along with, or accept religion... and its institutions and actions... to believe in God. In the same vein, one does not have to reject God utterly to be of sound mind.
AGuest - Wise words indeed. You are becoming a philosopher - after my own heart.
i am sitting here in a study lounge.
when i got here around 15 minutes ago the only ones here were two young ladies and a young man, sitting around a table with their eyes closed.
the young man was talking.
People talking loudly in public disturb me. I don't care which god they believe they are talking to or whether they are discussing their pet subject with their best mate.
A moderate voice is a sign of consideration for others.
