hi all,.
someone asked me the other day why i am so interested in reading about jws,ex jws and things that are going on with the wts.. i think for the most part,only those who have been involved with the wts can understand why we are so interested in the subject.. of course having believed everything the wts has told us over the years and dedicating our lives to it kept us tied in with them.. what are the different reasons that you all have for continuing to be preocupied with the wts?.

I think we like to know how others are thinking - did they leave for the same reasons as we did. We are loking for validation and reassurance. This is becauce we are human. Anyway - must go or I'll miss my space ship. WOOOOOOooooooooooooooossssh

hey all, hope you're having a great year so far.. before witnet was closed down, there was an interesting discussion regarding the fds and their failed prophecies.
i asked a question, but unfortunately there wasn't enought time to get everyone's view.. so i'll rephrase my posts, and wait to hear from y'all.. if we are so quick to say that the fds is a false prophet because of some failed prophecies (even tho they say they don't prophecy, we all know better) then how would you explain the bible book of jonah?.
a faithful prophet, jonah, followed (after much trial and tribulation to himself) jehovah's command to declare destruction on the city of nineveh.

Have the WT Society been wise with a hundred years of speculation behind them? Can they be trusted?
The Bible says that the master would appoint the servant or slave when he returned. As the Witnesses believe Christ has returned the servant or slaves commision should be over. In any case it all depends what you want to read into it - perhaps Jesus was refering only to those he spoke to at that time or maybe Jesus as a man was himself that servant. And does it really matter in 2001!

this newsgroup is sort of a brazilian equivalent of alt.religion.jehovahs-witn and was established in november 3, 2000 by the isp uol (sort of the brazilian equivalent of aol).. the newsgroup has an average of 10 messages per day and in these 2 months since november has attracted both jehovah's witnesses apologists and critics, since it is a newsgroup open for all (just like alt.religion.jehovahs-witn).. first the jehovah's witnesses apologists in that brazilian newsgroup complained to uol about the posts of the "apostates", perhaps hoping the critics would be banned.. when that didn't work, they threatened all critics and sent v1rus and e-mail-bombings to 6 participants who criticized jehovah's witnesses.. when that also failed to keep the critics away from the newsgroup, they complained again to uol, saying the newsgroup had been diverted from it's initial purpose.. what a ridiculous excuse!

i have been having discussion with my sister (relative), who is an active witness, about writing a letter of disassociation.
the reason being is that i have not attended the meetings in over a year and it's been 4 years since i have went out in the jw ministry.. i going to try to sum this topic up.
my sister think that i should not da myself because i have not done any immoral act in her thinking.

Just agreeing with your comments on keeping a low profile and not trying to get others to understand. When my wife and I left 15 years ago we never said a word. I didn't even bother to return the kingdom hall key.
Neither my parents or hers never asked why and still have not. My brother who has asked, cannot comprehend that it is not the truth, even though he says he does not believe most of what they print - and he is an Elder?
It is pointless to try to explain to friends and relatives. It is best to let them know that you are willing to talk with them, when they are ready. They are trained to close their mind to anything that might weaken the wall they have built around their minds. If and when they are ready, they will ask. There is certain dignity and peace in remaning silent until asked.

I am sorry to hear that you are in such a muddle. You cannot really make any decisions about your life until you are more sure of your beliefs. You should do some independeht research on the Watchtower Society. There are some very good books available through Amazon on the web.
I married an eighteen year old sister when I was 26. After 4 years I told her that I could not carry on living a lie. My research had led me to believe that the JWS did not have the truth.I told her I would not stand in her way but that I was no longer a Witness. She then told me that she had never believed it and had gone along with it to marry me. Our communication has improved since! We never went to the hall again and are still married after 18 years.
You see things have a way of working themselves out. You must be honest with yourself and patient. Real change takes time. When the time is right and you are better informed you can pass on your findings to your husband. You are in this together and must work things out together.
You think that God has all the answers - a look around the world will show that even God's plans can go wrong. Communicate your feeling with your husband. Love can conquer all.

I agree with Redhorse woman there is no point in writing a letter. Why play by their rules. I had doubted the WT had the truth for many years. In the words of the song I had come to doubt all that I once held as true.' After spending almost the first 30 years of my life in that prison my wife and I walked out of the hall for the last time in 1985.
We never said a word and never went back. No one ever called to ask why. Amazingly some of our relatives still stay with us and so do other Witnesses they like to mix with people they can relax with. However I have written a book about the WT due out in March - I have a feeling that it change things.
My uncle has 8 children all married all Witnesses with their own children the little tribe now numbers 43. Not one of them has seen us since we left - so some good has come out of it! My advice is to keep a low profile and say nothing at present. The less evil they believe you to be the more chance you will have to talk with them.

I still attend meetings - and to make things even better we now have a new dart-board and a pool-table!

I see from your outburst that some bricks have fallen from the wall you have built around your mind. I expect some of the seasoned brothers at the hall will patch it up for you.
My advice is to only mix with people as narrow minded as yourself. The danger of mixing with honest seekers of truth is that one day a hole will appear in your wall and you will find yourself staring out into the cold white light of truth.
You go from door to door inflicting your views on others and trying to undermine their faith. Don't you consider this as harassment?
You are welcome to 'e' mail me I have nothing to fear from other peoples opinions - truth can defend itself.
