I've been banned by a non-mod
by SweetBabyCheezits inwell, i guess this is it.
i received a pm from a non-moderator (who will remain nameless) this afternoon telling me i've been banned.
i didn't even know a non-mod could ban a poster from the forum but i read it for myself:.

SweetBabyCheezits How have you Trevor - How managed to keep cynicism at bay after getting out of the org?
Well, I can be cynical and have to be careful that my sardonic wit does not turn to sarcasm. In answer to your question, I live in the present. Everyday is a new start, a new opportunity to have a perfect day and be who I strive to be. The past teaches useful lessons but it should not be carried around like a garbage sack. What happens today can affect me and I deal with problems immediately. What happened yesterday is old news.

I don't belong here anymore
by sizemik inthese are some things i have been thinking about .
.. when i first found this site i registered immediately ... never was a "lurker" ... and i've been here about six months.. everyone was very warm welcoming and i felt at home very quickly ... very pleasant at the time, but as time has progressed i look back and feel a bit "love-bombed" ... much like a religion i used to belong to.. i have found that this site is a bit "cliquey" ... groups of posters frequent at similar times and enjoy their familiarity with each other and that's great ... but they also sometimes exhibit a coolness toward those outside their clique ... almost as if your 'post count' is the first thing by which you are "judged" ... much like a religion i used to belong to.
some posters develop a personal dislike for others and not only jump on their threads but even deliver the odd "slap" on unrelated threads to increase the discomfort for the object of their dislike ... not unlike a religion i once belonged to.. some posters even follow others around the board looking to counter or use snide or clever put downs at every opportunity ... a kind of intellectual "rivalry" that was common to those in that religion i used to belong to.. many posters like to use 'in-house' jargon and labels eg; "newbies" for those recently joined.

sizemik - You have summed up this board very accurately. This is an online community and like all communities it contains people with different ideas and different needs. Each person decides how involved they want to be and who they interact with.
You have decide you don't want to be involved at all. Isn't it great to have the freedom to make these choices without repercussion?

Using Christianity as a badge...
by garyneal infirst a little backdrop.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnbxlknavwo.
now, my wife says that people who exit the witness religion should just walk away and speak not of them anymore.
also in the case of myself, i should just leave it alone and let her do her thing.

Badges have their uses. When I was an immature JW in my 20s, I used to wear a large round badge fitted to the back of my lapel. People would notice the edge of the hidden badge, reach out and turn my lapel to see the badge. It said.
Stop
Touching
Me!

I am out of here
by Aussie Oz inthis place has become far to jw ish for my liking.. free expression and rights to make reply are shut down by those who hold the key.. this forum is turning into an uber christian outreach program with those who take umbridge to them getting locked and deleted threads.
it would perhaps not be so bad if the moderators actually communicated to people such as myself rather than cold cutting.
they complain when we make a public outcry and tell us it belongs in a private message, yet cannot see 'the straw in their own eye' and do not use the private messages to communicate why they have done what they do.

Terry: " If Aussie is out of here...so am I.
Free expression is vital. Without it we have nothing.
Rebreathing the same stale air will kill you!
This is a measure of solidarity on my part and not directed at anybody in particular."
...........................................................................................................................
I admire your gesture Terry but that would be a Terry-ble waste.
As Aussie seems to be staying we will not now lose a valuable asset.

Pat Condel has been a favourite of mine for many years. Although an atheist, he is not against belief in Jesus (as Tammy just said)
He exposes the greed and the hypocrisy of mainstream church leaders of all denominations. In this video he actually endorses some of the things Jesus is reported to have said. He says that Jesus has been sold out by corrupt religion. Rock on Pat!

you have become the thing you hated.
by TheJigsUp ini was reading a thread on here the other day, and it occured to me.
the very thing i have claimed in the title.. reading you all bickering over a certain subject.
i assumed that some of you are only here to genuinely to create arguments, and i saw that some are genuinely lost and some of you dont believe they are lost but they are.. i saw you judging your fellow posters as if you knew something, but truth be told none of us do.

Is it possible to define faith in a simple, logical, unambiguous way?
by losthobbit ini was wondering if it's actually possible to define what faith is in a simple, logical, unambiguous way.. .
i have a theory that words which cannot be defined in a simple, logical, unambiguous way do not really mean anything specific, and therefore should probably be avoided.. .
i know there have been books written on this subject, but i think that anyone who has to write an entire book to define a simple word like faith, does not really understand what it means.. .

Faith is hope and promise. It only becomes a delusion once it is proven to be placed in something that fails to deliver. Until then it’s
the way most of us find the courage to move on through life.
