i grew up in the cincinnati, oh area, father was (and still is) an elder.
brother died at age 20 because a blood transfusion was refused for him by the elders and he left a wife and little girl behind.

What an absolute tragedy! It was hard when this happened to a distant relative and friend of ours so I cant imagine the hurt you have been through. Hope you get a lot of support.

the person used the tacks used for posting letters and talks and spelled out the expletive.

We got a phone call telling us off for going to a ALL BLACK drinking place...the brother who was with us and answered the phone was from Antigua...! The ALL BLACK crew were all brothers and sisters....dur. We had the last laugh when sitting in an elders meeting called specifically to address this one elders racial comments...in his defence he said "Black is not a word in my vocalbury so I am not guilty as charged"....oh fer crying!
I met a white inactive sister in the street and asked why she hadnt been to meetings for months, she said "Because I disagree with all this inter-racial dating and marrying, I mean, YOU wouldnt want that to happen in your family would you?"....my girlfriend was Jamacian...!

I heard two adult sisters fighting in the KH toilets! crash bang wallop until the one ran screaming.
Theh there was a husband and wife fighting in the KH just before the meeting began!
I had to seperate 2 reg pioneers while fighting in a bowling session!

to refresh your memories, i was raised as a jw, as of the last few yrs my mom has been inactive (she's the only jw in the family).
i was never baptized talking and talking and talking, i felt insulted because i already knew everything we were going over.
however....winter break is begins next week, so i'm going home for about a month.
You could just tell her that there's a lot occupying your mind right now and that you will give her a ring when you feel you are ready to start studying again. (Like in the year 2094).
Tell her the things occupying your mind are preventing you from taking all the information in, causing you to have a nervous breakdown (break down in sobs and chatter your teeth while blowing nose).
You dont have to tell her anything nastily, be nice and polite.

i read a few apostate books during my research as a jw...after confessing in private to a best friend that i'd read them i got snitched on and they ran and told the elders....prats!
this led to a judicial and a 6 month probation, wasnt allowed to do carpark duty (sobs) or michrophone duty (baawl) for 6 months nor could i answer up at meetings which led to tongue wagging, could go on doors though... a bit strict huh.. also know of a 6 year old who handed in her dad for speaking to apostates!

Blondie thats interesting, I was put on probation way less than 20 years ago. Perhaps our Cong was way behind the times.
If the elders prove the person guilty or the person confesses, then if the elders feel they are repentant they will be privately or publicly reproved supposedly determined on the notoriety of the situation. Then an announcement is made privately to the onlookers or publicly and if any restrictions (the carpark and microphone privileges you mentioned are such things) have been levied.
All this was practised even when I was put on probation, I knew people privately reproved, sat in someones judicial who was reproved...etc so this was practiced along side probation.
Would be interested to know if they have discarded the probationary thing now though.

one month ago, so i'm freshly out and still working my way through the depression of losing my three best friends... but anyway, not important, what i was wondering was if any of you got this line from the elders the night you went to meet with them... so here's my story, take it or leave it.. i'm a homosexual, i've known since i was young, not raised in "the truth" but converted when i was seventeen, four years ago... anyway, i suppressed it, etc, until i decided that i wanted to leave the org.

i was looking over the thread... "should i support bill bowen?".
i realize i am one of the few people that gave bill somewhat of a difficult time pretty much from the beginning when it was not "fashionable" to do so.
it was never my hope to see the man reduced to what he has, but rather to gain a better understanding of the issues involved, the intents and goals of silentlambs and to see reasonableness govern everyone's actions in the whole affair.. imo, i don't think there is any other single person in the last while that has done so much to help address the issue of child abuse among jw's while at the same time exposing them for what they really are.
