The study watchtower touches on some pretty cringe inducing stuff from a non-JW standpoint. I wouldn't be surprised if that's partly why they're distancing the public version away from it. I also wouldn't be surprised if the study versions were just re-studied every two years. Perhaps this will all move to a standard show-up-for-a-sermon church format.

If JW kids can stand up against blood, you can stand up for it. Being better informed will give you a stronger position to argue from. Knowledge is power! Here's a link to start your research:

They said not everyone is that intelligent these days so WT knows best how to reach them.
It seems like modern converts aren't... "high-caliber" for lack of a better word. Every single one I've personally seen has been very uneducated, not all there, or emotionally needy (or all three). The average person googles the JWs and then runs in the opposite direction. Accurate info on JWs has been slipping down in the google search listings. I hope that can be corrected.

He stated that the main purpose of "our" ministry is not to save lives, it is to praise Jehovah.
I noticed that too. I got momentarily excited that the next announcement would be the winding-down of door-to-door preaching. No such luck, but I do see that being the eventuality.
Rubber face should have had his eyebrows stapled to his cheek.
I counted at least 73 eyebrow raises. The guy should try injecting botox into his forehead.
I'm pretty sure that I heard "Hallelujah". Can anyone confirm? My JW family were pretty scandalized about "The Kingdom-100 Years and Counting" video because it featured the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" song. Saying "Hallelujah" was always banned at our house. -

People have been complaining that things are getting "worse" since the dawn of time. Inter-racial marriage used to be what had people screaming about the end of days (and there were other things before that). Those couples couldn't get cakes either. We'd be horrified if that happened today. Our brains are wired to remember a version of the "good old days" instead of how things really were.

It wasn't specified just how much they would dumb it down. A cross between simplified and standard was implied. It will be a new layout with elements from both. The standard watchtower is already at a 3rd grade reading level.
The plan to evaluate a 2-year Awake/Watchtower cycle is interesting. If they go through with it (highly likely), there will be no new articles after 2 years. That would mean 6 Awakes and 6 Watchtowers total - to be reprinted as needed. Also, no more year books.

Someone maybe have audio recording of AM?
Sorry. I was tempted to, but it's too risky for my situation. Someone should upload the video of Lett instead. I counted at least 73 eyebrow raises.

To sum things up...
A. Watchtower summary
B. Dedication of a gazillion buildings with "inspiring" stories (gag me)
C. There will be 3 Watchtowers per year and 3 Awakes per year. Very pointed remarks about "wasting" literature on people who've been accepting literature for years but don't do anything beyond that. Reading difficulty in the articles will be lowered, combining the simplified and normal editions. The layout will also change. This all starts on January 2018. Likely plan is to produce two years of the new Awakes/Watchtowers and then reprint them again. Basically - no new articles after the next two years.

Just curious - is apostasy grounds for divorce?
by LifesNotOver ini know only adultery is supposed to be grounds for "scriptural" divorce.
i'm a wicked apostate in their eyes, but my believing husband and i still can't get a divorce that would allow him to remarry.
we currently are separated - i have left him.

I'm not sure I really understand why folks feel the need to make sure their ex can remarry. Can anybody explain this to me?
Some divorces are fairly amicable. It's a nicety to make sure your previous partner can move onto another relationship without unfair punishments being levied by the cult. I don't believe it's very common, but it's a possibility.
