i thought reuben was superb on all 3 of his songs; clay sang the best only on his 3rd song.
just because clay sang a great final few notes on his 3rd song, doesn't mean he deserves to be american idol.. my best friend and i hope reuben wins, but believe clay will get more votes.. earlier today i heard bleach-blond frenchie who got booted off for her topless photos sing on a morning show...she would have blown the competition out of the water!
I'M SOUNDING OFF CAUSE I'M SERIOUSLY UPSET (but I'll get over it after I get this off my chest).
I can't believe CLAY did not win. It looks like a lot of people who voted for Kimberly, voted for Reuben. Personally, I think Reuben could have fallen flat on his face and some people would have still voted for him. Hm-m-m-m-m I wonder why? And that includes Judge Randy Jackson. What favortism. Obviously, some people have forgotten that there's a lot of songs on a CD. Reuben's are all going to sound the same. Ugh. A person can only take so many belly-rubbing songs in a row. I guess winning is going to take a marketing ploy to win in the future, e.g., "205" or "Velvet Teddy Bear" (gag!).
Clay can "out-sing" Reuben any day of the week. It kills me that he has to take a back-seat to Reuben. How someone can possibly think that a man who sings one kind of song with no range, no versatility, no stage presence, and no looks (unless you like big, fat men ) could constitute the next American Idol is beyond me. I wouldn't walk across the street to see a "free" concert of Reuben Studdard singing and sweating let alone buy his CD's. Some American Idol.
They both get record contracts. Gee I wonder why. It boils down to the fact that American Idol doesn't give a hoot about Rueben and Clay. They care about the $$$$. And ONE-HALF of the U.S. just said they liked CLAY. Uh-oh. Now what? They knew right away that unless they produced them both at the same time, they wouldn't get the $$$ out of them that they wanted.
I bet Clay succeeds faster than Rueben because he has...guess what? An amazing voice, versatility, and a stage presence to boot! Obviously, some people must think that doesn't count or forgot about it in the stupid frenzy.
I think it should have been Kimberly Locke and Clay as the top 2. At least they have good voices.
And what the !@#$ is this about voting 200 times? That should definitely not be permitted. Ridiculous. Does anyone know if American Idol had anything in place to catch voting from the same phone number more than once?
And that's the end of this subject for me.

about a month ago, i rescued a bird from our bathroom vent and told mr. scully that we needed to install some screening over the opening so that she would not build a nest inside the vent.
i even went to the home depot and bought some screen.
all he had to do was go up on the ladder and install the freaking screen.. did he listen to me?

i know most of you american idol watchers perfer clay or reuben...and they are both worthy winners...(last year i would have croaked if kelly clarkson didn't win!
)...but i'm sure you'll agree it will be more fun if all 3 give outstanding performances tonight and it's not a token night tomorrow!
Morrisamb: Yes she did. She was up against good competition. She'll do well I'm sure with her career. I also admire the humility and maturity that she showed in accepting the outcome.

Hey Hoh...we're rockin. It's CLAY and Reuben. I hope CLAY sings his skinny little butt off next week.
I reiterate....Reuben applys his ballad style to every song....including "yodels". In our dance club, you were never considered a good dancer if you could brillantly dance with one or two partners...even if they were your compeitition partners and you won trophies all over the place. The best dancers were the dancers who could dance well with anyone. They were versatile and good all around dancers. That's what makes a good dancer and its the same with singing.
There's only a 2% difference in votes between CLAY and Reuben. This is gonna be interesting next week.

Well, tonight should really be interesting. Just a few words about the judges, etc. (Yes...I'm into this thing so fluff haters can just pass on what I have to say ):
CLAY: Simon's criticism of Clay's forgetting the words to a song for a minute was justified. He covered very well, however, so well that I didn't know it happened until Simon made a big point of it naturally. I haven't found anyone who even knew that song so Clay probably wasn't familiar with it either. That's probably why he was nervous. I would have been, too. AND it was not an easy song to sing. He sang it well considering. Randy's criticism of Clay's performance on that song... "I don't like the song and I wasn't impressed (or something like that)" was totally uncalled for. It was a "draw" song for Pete's sake. Ridiculous. Even Clay said he would not have picked that song. Bad Randy. Very unfair. Reuben couldn't have sung that song half as well as Clay and Reuben can do no wrong in Randy's eyes. It just killed Randy to compliment Clay (a back-handed one at that) on his "Unchained Melody". Randy just had to start the compliment out with "Even though I hate that arrangement, you did very well". Now for Simon: Very overly picky with Clay and his facial expressions which I think are great. More than I can say of Reuben who has NONE after he stops singing. Paula has been very impartial. Good for her. That's the way it should be with judges. I'm not a judge and I like CLAY.
PERFORMING ON A STAGE: All of them will cut records. All of them will sell records. All will get short appearances. But I would put CLAY up again Kim and Reuben anyday for a 2-hour concert that everyone would love because he ENTERTAINS and CONNECTS with his audience very well. Would you REALLY want to attend a 2-hour concert of "nothing special" Kimberly? Boring. Or worse...Reuben? He have to sit the whole time. Reuben does not expend energy. AND I'd fall aleep by the 5th ballad!
VERSATILITY: Clay is excellent with an excellent range. Kimberly is also excellent. Reuben is zilch. The few upbeat songs he sang, he tried to turn into ballads by running the lyrics together punctuated with yodels (typical ballad style) which is why he lost the clipped rhythm to the "Signed, Sealed, and Delivered" lyric . It could have had a lot more upbeat rhythm to it (I'm a dancer....I know the song well and danced competitively to it). He was also obviously straining his voice to the gills last night. The man takes no chances outside his comfort zone because he cannot sing anything else well but ballads. Period. No American Idol to me!
VOTING: Make sure you catch the phone number flashed on the screen. I think the phones are open for 2 hours after the show. Wait for about 1-1/2 hours before you start dialing.
IT GONNA BE ANYONE'S GUESS TONIGHT.

CLAY WAS FANTASTIC . His "Mack the Knife" and "Unchained Melody" were GREAT. What a performer. I truly hope he wins and has a wonderful singing and performing career.
REUBEN sang well. I just can't stand how he turns every song into a ballad....even up-beat ones by "yodeling". He never steps out of his comfort level and, therefore, is not very versatile. I'd never buy his albums. They would all sound the same.
KIMBERLY sounded nice. That was it. She has very little stage presence.

have you ever had a good friend that you shared so much with, and with time things changed and you've become enemies?
should good friends let certain misunderstandings destroy a friendship?.
why is it that too often friendship turns to hatred?.
Just call me the sacricial lamb!
Yep....My JW friend of 26 years dissolved a friendship in 10 mins on the phone. She's still a loyal Dub and I could care less if I ever see her again. I'm angry at her...very angry.
She of all people knew that when there was a problem to solve or something just didn't sound or look right, I was the one who turned bloodhound until I got to the root of the problem. For 26 years, she told everyone that I was like "a puppy with a root" until I found an answer. She was the one who never had the time to research anything. You would think that knowing how I was about things that maybe, just maybe, I had discovered something about the Watchtower that she should know.
On the day of my last phone call to her before I DA'd, she told me that she "didn't have the time or the inclination to try to prove the Watchtower wrong and that I was only looking for an excuse to leave. I really never had the time to study like she did (huh?) and, therefore I was having doubts ( that info was straight out the latest Watchtower rag at the time by the way). " All I got out in that telephone conversation is that (1) they are lying to her, (2) there are things that she needs to know about the Watchtower that the Watchtower keeps hidden from the congregation (3) they definitely were not God's organization, (4) that an organization is not required to have a relationship with God, (5) they were false prophets (to which she replied that at least the Organization admits to their mistakes...give me a break).
I'm sure she is quite proud of herself sticking by what she calls Jehovah's organization. She's one emotionally sick, fearful, weak, co-dependent puppy and I really feel sorry for her. If she wants to live her life within the Watchtower parameters, then fine. I can't wait for the day when she retires from secular work and the Watchtower tells her she can't go traveling around the countryside in her travel trailer like they plan to do because it will take her away from regular meetings and field service. That should go over big with the non-JW hubby (who is shunning me also). But knowing her and her obsession with being the "perfect JW", she'll figure out a way to do both. She has always enjoyed both sides of the fence since her hubby is a non-JW. She also attends a Kingdom Hall in a very wealthy territory (in another state) that is not as strict as the Kingdom Halls I attended. She is able to do things that my Kingdom Hall frowned upon. So she has the best of both worlds. She can be a JW, have a lot more freedom than some other JW's, and enjoy all the materialistic trappings her husband can provide without raising an elder eyebrow! Nice job if you can get it.
The friend I had disappeared within the bowels of the Watchtower. May it rot in hell for the damage it has done.

OK. I'll jump in here on this. LEFT BEHIND is one of my favorite Christian fiction series. I just finished the 11th. Yes....I have read all 11. I borrowed every one of them except the last three (many Christians have one or more in their libraries you could probably borrow). They are very quick reads. You can read one book in 2 days easy. I saw one of the movies. Not very good. The books are much better and more detailed. They do follow a traditional (if that's possible) Christian Revelation interpretation which includes the Rapture. Some books are better than others. Some seem spread out but that's because the author has a contract with the publisher to complete the story in exactly 12 books.
I highly recommend starting the series from Book No. 1. You'll get very wrapped up and fly through them in no time.
Happy reading...
