Yizuman,
Sorry, i've never heard of them, can you give me a quick outline?
Ok, the book series is fictional series based on the bible. The first book "Left Behind" begins with the Rapture in which Christians around the world have disappeared from the face of the earth, including those who have died in the past but their corpses are missing in their graves.
What happens after the Rapture tells a story of people who have been left behind because they didn't know the Lord and missed the opportunity to be raptured up with Christ and be with their love ones.
The story focuses on several characters, a pilot, the daughter of the pilot, a newspaper reporter, a church decon, a merchanary(s?), a Jewish Rabbi, and others.
There's 12 books in a whole series and the 11th book just came out this month. I had finished reading it.
The series is very very good and IMHO, the storyline follows the prophecies perfectly and gives an idea of what the future may very well look like based on today's current events, cultures, technology, etc.
Check out the first book in softcover "Left Behind", I think it's like $5.99 or so?? Either that or head for the library and get a copy.
The authors are: Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins

Sounds interesting, but if I read the first one then I'll probably have to read the rest...and thats 12 books!
Could take me about 6 years!
Yizuman, I have not read them myself, but have heard from religious and ex-religious friends that they are very good.

Although I've not read any of the books, I have caught a couple of the videos. To me they are like Sci-Fi flicks, with a religious tone. Too much like dangling the "Armageddon fear tactic" like the JW's to take any of it seriously.
I've noticed them at the "fire-sale" table at the local supermarket chain. I wondered about them but haven't had an opprotunity to read any.
12 is a lot of volumes; indeed, I am afraid that it would become a project: a self-powered "moral imperative" might take over "better judgement" and consume way too time.
So, thanks for the mini-review, Yiz!!!
Sentinel: maybe sci-fi is where the WHOLE JW/WTS concept belongs!!!! If it was I could just close the book and put it on a shelf, like waking up from a bad dream.

*LOL* ......The Omega Man w/Charleton Heston in it is much more likely...Better yet the Planet of The Apes is even more so...*LOL

Aren't these books religious and all about what will happen if you get "left behind?"
Armageddon is a theme I am through with, personally.
I've read the first one "Left Behind". I plan on reading the others but i'd like to have access to them all before I continue. I hate to start reading a story and not being able to get to the end.
It took me to get half way through before I got into it. It's a fun read, but a little too stretched out, in my opinion. It's a novel based on Revelation, I have a bit of a hard time with the Christian interpretation of it, but it helps me understand how mainstream Christians view the interpretation of prophecy.
On a scale of 1-10, I'd rate it a 7.
I saw the movie based on the first book and I don't recommend it. It's with Kirk Cameron, it's poorly acted and they tried to cover too much material in too short a time without the proper budget. If I would've watched the movie before reading the book, I would have had no clue to what they were talking about.
