I think of Facebook as being like attending the company picnic or a family reunion. If I don't like a particular 'conversation' of a friend or family member, I just scroll down and find someone else to interact with.
Easy peasy...
there are a few people who are fb friends that constantly brag about themselves, their looks, their accomplishments, their bodies, their job---etc.. one particular person is too close to ignore but it's never ending.
i am thisclose to telling her, to please stop it.. any thoughts?.

http://www.npr.org/2014/02/11/275297408/going-to-college-may-cost-you-but-so-will-skipping-it.
use this the next time a jw tells you there is little advantage to going to college..
I've learned not to take financial advice from a broke person.
The same rule applies to those JW's who gave me negative advice about pursuing a university degree. I did it anyway. And it opened a door to every job I've had and continues to provide a decent living (and career) for our family.
And those poor bas7@rds have aged beyond their years...

are baptisms internal births or converts?.
there were around 6,000,000 jehovah's witnesses in 1995, during which time the global average birth rate was 22.4/1000.
the estimated number of witness children born is therefore 134,400. in 2011, when that group of children were around the age of baptism, there were 263,161 people baptised.
I think that the WT leadership may be changing it's stance on children. This is just an intuitive guess.
WT publications have been produced just for young folks since the 1920's. These were indoctrination books. And over the course of 90 years, the WT has discouraged parents from having planned pregnancies because Armageddon was just 'around the corner'. If anyone was around in the mid-1980's, this message was loud and clear in publications and from the platform.
With the recent development of children's videos, lessons, arts and crafts projects, etc., I'm thinking that the leadership has realized that kids are their main source of new converts. The new WT's message to young ones is 'candy coated' and 'happy, happy, joy, joy' cartoonie character perfect.
The WT leadership is also sending a subtle message to young couples : make babies and raise them in the organization.
With the help of the Mother organization, you can have a happy and rewarding family life...
trying to fade... using the mentally depressed, bi-polar, etc.... was eating out with husband.
nice evening chatting and relaxing.
ready to head home and chill for the night.
With time you'll realize that the fear and panic is just in your head. Allow yourself to be free from the mental control that you were conditioned to have as a JW.
Make steps to be out in public and do the things that you enjoy. Avoid (shun) them if you see them at a distance. If the circumstances require a face-to-face encounter, repeat a stock answer ("We're doing great! Good to see you too!!") that you've memorized.
With time they'll avoid you in public!

**this was predicted from some members here**.
to all congregations .
re: adjustments in organizational terminology and assembly arrangements .
Reducing the number of days during the year of sitting in an auditorium increases the number of days that able bodied men and women can volunteer on building projects. Guilt will be used to encourage building assistance on new halls and the 'World Headquarters'.
The next step is to reduce printing to the bare minimum (my prediction) by ending the Watchtower and Awake magazines and transitioning to printed leaflets, short sermons/presentations on DVD and QR Codes pointing to JW.org.
Printing is old technology (used by Russell and the Bible Students). It's time to "keep pace with Jehovah's Organization" into the 21st century!

d id they tell you they were taking care of the brothers and sisters in need in other countries?..
did they tell you that your contributions were being used for disaster relief?..
did they tell you that your contributions were being used for humanitarian assistance?..
How many of the active members that you've known rely on government disability, public assistance, government health insurance, etc in order to make it through the last days of "this dying system"?
If it's like my part of the country ... a LOT !
We've heard for years how this system of things makes life so difficult for Jehovah's faithful...and we're SOOO persecuted.
so i found this video on youtube.
apparently a loyal jw put it together as a kind of "video tour" to show their friends, etc.
i don't know what's worse, the creepy music (is this what we've been hearing about?
What a utilitarian environment.
It's like they used an old Soviet city planner/architect to create the design. Everything seems focused on function - even the entry halls and 'relaxation' areas are about as visually exciting as the printery's rooms.
The only way to jazz it up was to add ... cheesy, interactive displays?
where do you guys find old tower books and material other than flea bay and their outragous prices?
looking for some of the old books..
Visit archive.org
Put 'Finished Mystery' in the search bar.
You'll have it....for free. These are scanned books that can be read or downloaded. Tons of JW and Bible Student publications.
the recent boe letter announcing changes to the duration of circuit assemblies was warmly received by congregations the worldover.
it was as if the brothers and sisters were already in the new world for, upon hearing this news, there were no tears at all.
instead, it is a humble acknowledgement from the gb of the mind-numbing, yawn-inducing 2-day circuit assemblies.. .
Assemblies and conventions are the closest event to a 'Holiday' for Jehovah's Witnesses.
It's like a family reunion of sorts - with your 'NEW' family. We travel together, we spend the whole day together, we eat together, we sleep under the same roof together, we all dress (look) alike, we talk alike, we read together, we take pictures of each other, we find our future husband or wife, we hug, laugh, cry, sing & reminisce, talk about the dead and the sick members of our 'family', congratulate the newlyweds and new parents, listen to experiences and hardships of our 'family'; applaud their accomplishments, strength and determination.
Meanwhile the aged non-JW parent sits alone in the living room wishing that his children and grandchildren would come visit him for one weekend this year...but their lives are just so busy now-a-days.
the ever faithful and discreet slave has provided a bountiful season of busy-work for the next 3-4 months!!
memorial season ( the last??
lol!!!
Traditional advertising cost WAY too much money.
The Big Bosses want to spend that money on infrastructure - the NEW World Headquarters complex, regional assembly halls and on new Kingdom Halls (donation collection buildings) in areas of the world where people are poor & uneducated (the lifeblood of any successful religion).
I am anticipating a series of JW.org pop-up advertisements to be developed for the internet in the near future...
