Also, how could the entrance to the garden of eden be garded by swords? Why would it have been invented or created back then?

Consider another example from the early chapters of Genesis. After Adam and Eve sinned and were expelled from the garden, Jehovah prevented them from returning. How? Genesis 3:24 says: “He drove the man out and posted at the east of the garden of Eden the cherubs and the flaming blade of a sword that was turning itself continually to guard the way to the tree of life.” Notice, “the flaming blade of a sword.” Did God invent swords?

We need not conclude that our loving Creator was the first one to make what we know as swords. Adam and Eve saw turning in front of the angels something that was blazing. What exactly was it? By the time Moses wrote the book of Genesis, swords were well-known and used in warfare. Which is part of an even crazier larger article trying to explain why animals only ate vegitation before the flood!

Maybe it was the other way around and SHE wasn't interested in HIM? There's not much recorded about Eve's reaction to Adam. All she seemed to be interested in is food and talking to a snake.

There are loads of problems with the Genesis account, and even more problems with the JW interpretation of it.

Some of the previous threads on here, especially ones by Leolaia, make much more sense of the account, when looked at from a Jewish mythology point of view - things like the word "perfection" or the snake being Satan not even being mentioned in the account, but were later Xian additions.

I seem to remember the mythology does have something like Adam and Eve as being far more "child-like" than the WT interpretation, and not knowing about sex either - that's why only after they had eaten from the tree they realised they were naked? Presumably God was later going to aquaint them with "doing the business" as a reward for not eating of the tree or something?

anyone else bored with religion versus atheism or is it just me?.

i'm planning to go to greece in may.. i'm thinking about planting rocket and beetroot in my garden this year because they are getting rather expensive to buy.. this week i want to make chocolate refridgerator cakes.

some for my daughter who is coming home from uni this weekend and some to take in to work to give away with free tea and coffee because it's national libraries day on saturday.. i just finished reading the humans by matt haig which was brilliant.

So that's a double tract campaign in August for the whole of the UK at least then.

Also:

Even so, we cannot view shepherding simply as a program that involves making a “shepherding call” once a month.

Do they seriously think publishers are getting visited once a month? You're "lucky" in most congregations to get visited once a year!

(Or do they mean elders doing one sheperding visit per month to different people? That would mean only 12 people get a sheperding visit per year?)

Growing a beard!!

i am doing one of my dreams for a while: growing a beard.

it may not seem like much, but it's quite the experience for me.

it's probably a rite of passage from jw to exjw lol.. besides the itchyness, i hate it that it curls so much (i have hairs that naturally start to curl after a certain length).. anyone here have tips on taking care of a beard?

Do you think any guy can wear a beard and make it look good though?

Personally I think stubble growth starts to make my face look "tired", certainly after a few days, though other people say it suits me.

I have quite a "round" face - not the square chiseled jaw I always wanted! I've thought about going for the stubbled look, but maybe I'm too young, or maybe I just don't have the face to suit it. Maybe it would be too much maintainance anyway.

One member of the ex-JW Facebook groups comment got taken down by reason that is was against their guidelines, supposedly attacking a religion. It was a bit strong, mind you - borderline I would say.

I don't think the community realises it will also result in a massive influx of JWs in the area, and therefore knocking on people's doors a lot more. Many of of the comments on the article seem to be along the lines of: "it's fine as long as they leave us alone and don't bother anybody". I think that person is in for a shock.
