I did suspect it was maybe for legal reasons myself. During cases they fight in court, it seems judges can have assets frozen or have to put money aside at least, like they had to do with the Conti case. Maybe that scared them and they don't want to have their hands tied like that again?

Coming soon - time-share deals for translation offices used as JW holiday camps with glossy brochures etc.
Then it's one step away from JW convents and kool-aid at Jonestown.
Maybe that's why they bought somewhere by the coast - easy to dump the bodies or go over a cliff?

New light?
by Ignoranceisbliss inmy father who is an elder with decent organizational connections mentioned that very soon there would be "new light" regarding the resurrected being able to be married.
this would make sense because our current understanding has never made any sense to me.
has any one else heard anything about that?.

I suspect this point probably came up because of the latest CO visit where they are also now showing the video of the suicidal woman to Ministerial Servants as well. Elders who have been through the latest school will already be familiar with it:
http://youtu.be/NLBuulfOk40?t=20m59s
C.O.'s are reminding brothers that the current understanting of Luke 20:35-36 is still in force and are aware that many have their own ideas on it, but the current understanding is how it is at the moment. Our C.O. almost explained this with a "wink wink" so I don't know if he thinks they might change the understanding of that soon.
Anyway, Elders and MS'es were told that it maybe wouldn't be the right time to correct someone's "wrong" viewpoint if someone in their family had died, even if the JW expresses an incorrect viewpoint according to current understanding.

I think it's Geraint (Jones?) in charge of translation into Welsh at Bethel - I think he's a fairly "big hitter" there. I don't know how many translators are involved for Welsh, but for the Scottish Gaelic I know it's definitely no more than 2 or 3. Shocked that they area actually buying somewhere as a HQ for this - seems like a pretty shameless excuse to snap up property and make money on it?

Dis-Grace?
by raymond frantz ini was chatting the other day with a ministerial servant about the word "" as it appears in the new testament .the word is translated 90% of the time as grace but the watchtower chooses the obscure phrase "undeserved kindness" .this article examines the definition of the word as it appears in the verse romans 6:23 and how wages in the roman army can help us determine the roots of the word.. charisma a way to understand undeserved kindness.

All appointed men are being told they have to pioneer now!
by stuckinarut2 inyes, you read correctly..... all appointed men have been told in a new letter that they have to pioneer to "set the lead" whenever there is a "special" campaign month.
they use some scripture saying that these ones have to show by example.... so for any of us who are appointed and have learned ttatt, it is going to be very hard to fade during this time!.

With this new process, what happens if a CO goes "apostate"? We know it has happened before.
Does it mean that all the elders he appointed in the past are then scrutinized?

I know my elder hubby has these in his bag
Does he print them out from the website then? Most elders read them online through the login of JW.org these days. The branch doesn't send out paper copies now, except by very special request.
I know in some halls there is sometimes one elder who knows how to use a computer and prints them out for other elders who don't.

Next step, of course, is to cut the ties between COs and the branch.
I think the removal of DO's was a big step in doing that.
I can't decide whether elders and MS numbers will go up or down as a result of this change. I know they are more desperate for men to "step forward", and my initial thought would be that removing the number of people involved in making the descision will mean numbers go up.
This could backfire though if the CO's start appointing men who the elders don't really like - it could really put the cat among the pidgeons in a way. You could see a lot more elders "stepping down" in fact.

Blood transfusions are all but officially a 'conscience matter' but if done 'brazenly' could get you in trouble.
What's the low down on that?
Someone might be able to correct me, but I believe it's primarily due to the new "Sheperd the Flock" elders book where the directions for someone who takes a blood transfusion are different from the old elders book, i.e. less strict rules and not an automatic DF'ing.
That, combined with other anecdotal accounts from posters on here, which is not surprising given the ever-loosening restrictions on taking of more "blood fractions" over recent years.
There might be more to it than I can remember, but basically having a blood transfusion is no longer the "automatic disfellowshipping" offense it once was. That's not to say it's a guarantee you won't be DF'ed for it, depending on whether you go blabbing about it or promoting it to fellow JWs. I think most people on here have said they expect it to be a total "conscience issue" within a few years with the way things are going.
