  Will the 'Make Good Use of Our Official Website' discussion backfire?

  good day everyone,.

  i'm a born in jehovah's hostage, and am still a hostage until i can wake my family up (wishful thinking i know).

  i'll formally introduce myself later.. for now i have some burning concerns about the service meeting part for the week of december 24, 2012.

  Meeting just finished here. Sitting there listening to this item was even more gruelling than I expected. Some observations from what I saw:

  • If they don't already, kids are now going to all want their own iPad, and now have an excuse that it's for "family worship".
  • Most dubs have spent very little time looking at the new site at all. There were very few comments on questions about specific parts of the new website - i.e. "what is the difference between the CD-ROM and the Online Library?" Those that have used the website have maybe just downloaded a few watchtower .pdf's or audio files for their MP3 player.
  • Older dubs are really resentful about this. Some of the more interesting comments were not into the microphone, but mutterings from the back by older dubs - words such as "boring" were used to describe the item, and "hope they don't make us do this".
  • The demos looked really clumsy, despite any evidence of rehearsal, and this is going to look stupid if they actually try to do it on someone's doorstep. The idea that someone is going to invite you into their house to look at a website on their computer is very far-fetched.

  2012 report analysis - countries with reduced publisher figures

  i've just started munching through the figures for 2012 in the new 2013 yearbook, now available on jw.org.. i thought you might be interested to see which countries saw "negative growth" over 2012.. these are as follows.... .

  *sudan is so dramatically reduced because south sudan is now independent and the society has adjusted the publisher figures accordingly.. .

  Something's missing

  i haven't been on here much in the last couple of months.

  but i have shared custody so my ex keeps me informed of 'witness holidays' where she would have custody and i would get make up time.

  what's missing is the 3 day conventions.

  Ours is at a new location this year for the first time in a long time. Maybe they are having a look at locations for all D.C.s? No doubt a cost saving excercise.

  On the one hand, it is going to be quite interesting watching the internet-clueless dubs fumbling their way through this 30 minute item tomorrow. On the other hand it's going to be INCREDIBLY boring for those of us who have to sit there. Just like every other service meeting...

  Your earliest doubt?

  this might be an unfair question for those who have been out of the organization for decades, but i'm wondering if any of you remember your earliest doubt -- maybe something odd that occurred to you as a kid (if you were a jw then).

  please try to limit to two doubts at the most :-).

  i think my first "doubt" was simply realizing that at the time of the flood, every animal that wasn't in the ark died (well, besides the fish, supposedly).

  Single Malt Whiskey. A preference?

  i am not a drinker but i hear single malt whiskeys are good.. yesterday at the liquor store, i asked a nice man, who also was looking over the bottle display, if he could tell me which one does he prefer and why.

  one of the store clerks, came by, listening, and said she preferred the same bottle.. i bought the one they preferred:.
